Can you program your own recorded drums sounds into the ESX and make a beat? Like if I record the sounds from my drumkit as a wav file, can I import them into the ESX and make beats that way?
@alexanderj1986@alexanderj1986 yes you can, either sample and trim them in a computer and use the smart media/sd card to transfer them (easier method) or sample and trim them directly in the esx, then save them, assign them to a pad and sequence it
great work with just hardware, I am 37 now and I started with just a yamaha tb303, and so I have great respect for hardware. Now I use the M-Audio Axiom 25 midi and Sonar 8 producer, and will be getting the kp3 this Monday from Nova musik. Anyway my question is ow do you use the kp3 in a daw like sonar ect.... I know I can connect thru usb, but will it show up in my devices menu as my axiom does. Any help is greatly appreciated. Keep up tha tight beats.
A "Roland TB303" (not yamaha). If you started with just that mate you wouldn't be doing much as its only makes one sound. You'd need something to go with it?
fantastic work. i just have one question. i'm not questioning your purchasing choices, but wondering about what i should spend my money on instead. if i don't own any instruments, purchasing both a KP3 and an ESX1 would be slightly redundant since they're both samplers right? i'd be better off getting either an EMX1+KP3 or an ESX1+KaossilatorPro? tell me if i'm wrong.
@itsashowtime i wouldnt call the kp3 a sampler, its an fx box with 4 volatile sample loops, the esx is more a real sampler (tho more of a beatbox with personalized sounds)
esx vs emx really depends on your drum sounds preferences, emx is stuck with 2005-06 sounds, sx can be "updated" with today's sounds
sick programming my friend. Very funky. But why the reverb and delay on the synth sounds...I personally think it takes energy away. Those funky melodies should be RAW.
i was mostly testing things around, it's not an official definitive recording, that's the day i decided to move back to hardware, took the toys out of storage and plugged them together
Alright check it out, cause you seem so cool and responded so quickly im going to shoot you another question. Now i realize that others have asked the differenec between the esx and emx, but with out a kp3 to sample with and a ko1 and my only other pice of equipment is a basic keyboard that doubles as a midi controller-sooooo which is better for making live electronic music, less trance and more electronica style, Esx or Mx. i mean in you opinion.
i treally depends wether you can live with some built in drum soundset or if you need your own drum sounds.
the EMX is cool cause you have 5 melodic parts so you can have say a bass, lead, a pad(with the chord osc) an ostinato and let's say a 303-esque sequence going +the drums
with the ESX you wold have let's say a bass and a lead, the drums and maybe a sampled vocal loop chopped in slices and maybe a drum loop and a pre recorded 303-esque sequence
do i need to sample my own drums and stuff or can i live with a built in(and thus fixed) soundset, way more than the number of tracks available, especially if you want to go more electro-ish than trancy(emx for trance seems pretty awesome cause of the 5 parts)
Wow, Awesome this has been the best break down i have heard yet, thanks abunch. With this info in mind i think ill spring for esx-1 so i have more flexibility and you can always bring in leads from programs or like you had your synth triggered by the midi. So thanks i'll be keeping up with you subscription.
did you have to delete a shit load of samples off that thing to get any of your sounds on there cuz this thing has like no memory...it's pissing me off
they are external(hardware synths) triggered by the midi out of the ESX, so i don't have to waste internal memory for any sounds other than drums (and music is the answer vocals)
I didn't sample any of the synth sounds, thay are all played by the MKS50 and the TX81z
I have the esx and kaoss pad 3 too. but i new in this word so I don't know how can i connect this two togheter?? Because they give me some problems.. please answer thanks
if you don't have a mixer, I suggestusing outs 3-4 of the esx to send to the kp3 and return the koss pad in the audio in of the esx and use the audio thru(or filter/gate it with the audio in part)
if you have a mixer, use an aux send (pre fader preferably)
as I said, its a mistake and i dont have the original videos anymore to edit, and i cant download the 5 mb shitty flash, censor it and re up it, it will look sooooo bad
it's pretty much that buzzy with the cutoff wide open, the only effect is delay from the kaoss, may have been filtered by the MFC42 but I doubt it, no after a listen, it's pretty much a dry mks50 you hear there
i'm really sorry for the nakednedd, it was done afterwards to have a cut scene to insert when I fucked up and I jus didnt think about it, I was so damn hot that day
very nice i love it, i want to get an electribe but don't know which one get, the esx-1 or emx-1. my spaeciality is trance so if you just tell me which one is better for it it will be alot of help. thanks and keep it up
for trance i'd recommend the emx (still waiting for a supertribe from korg myself, one with 16 tracks of poly sequencing, sampling, synthesis and 16 outs, dedicated mute and solo buttons for tracks, etc) cause you have 5 melodic parts+drums while in the esx(the one I have) only 2 parts are melodic, all others are either drums or loops/stretch parts.
if you want more tweakabiity of your lines and do not need the sampling, go with the emx, if you either need saming (vocals, guitar, etc) be ready to resample and lose some tweakability on some parts if you want to do more than bass+lead (no chordal beds possible except via sampling/resampling)
emx or esx?

pink or yellow, same exact machine, just plastic color changing, dentical sounds

damn 2:44 nice transition. Nice use of the KP# i think i want to get an esx-1 to accent my kaossilator or vice versa depends on how you look at it

thanks a lot, i would say the kaossilator will more likely supplement the ESX, but your situation may vary :)

apresmidi505 3 years ago
the synths are external synths and in this one i use only th efactory drums, but after, i deleted the whole memory to load my own samples
if you don't use it for vocals/loops, there is a LOT of memory for mono drum sounds for exemple
muzik4machines 3 years ago
I just got one a kp3 and have a lot to learn...

im not really sure what i should save up for though, but im mainly looking at a kp3 then hopefully an emx-1
im only 16 and im fairly new at this so any suggestions would be great!
