  • O YER ITS THE FASTEST MINI IN LONDON THAT IM PUTTING ON MY DYNO SO IL STRAP IT DOWN BY THE WING MIRRORS BECAUSE THEY WILL HOLD IT IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG, THERE SHOULD BE TESTS FOR FOOLS TO SEE IF THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH DYNOS

MSD ignition pack Magnecor leads Iridium plugs Newman performance camshaft Bosch 550 injectors Dave F / JCW modified induction box GRS motorsport version intercooler 17% KMT reduced supercharger and pully Janspeed manifold and Fletcher catback All of the above custom remapped @1320 Mini...dyno graph of 220 whp....thats approximately 253 BHP given a 15% drive train loss to the wheels.

    And this is from BMW MINI.....a GP makes 218 BHP....you tell me what power mods youve done to make more?

    And if you dont have a dyno graph to prove your mods your wasting your time even replying.

  • @birdlipbandit well I've managed to pull out 5.6s....0-60 and the guys at Lohen did a calculation (they didnt have a dyno at the time) and put out a close estimate of 245hp...dont worry I'll come n post a picture of the graph whenI get back to lohen for the dyno. its like why would I wanna lie...if i want to I would at least say something like 300hp or something lool abit daft dont you think

    Thatll be great. I look forward to the dyno. Ive no doubt your making sub 6 seconds with those mods and it being so light. But, im telling you now, your going to be dissapointed by the dyno. Without a camshaft or new cylinder head your GP wont be making anything above 225 BHP...im willing to make a bet on that.

    I tell you what i think is daft! Coming on here calling other people idiots when you are spending untold amounts of money on your car at lohen, not knowing wether the parts are actually improving the performance of your car. Any before and after dyno runs?

    You buy a GP and you chuck the excellent JCW induction box off to replace it with an Alta part lol. You take off the JCW stainless manifold and replace it with 500 quids worth of janspeed manifold. +2bhp?

  • @birdlipbandit I might not be too fanatical about cars as I'm only 22 but i love MINIs and I know few things as I've had my car for a year now and I've done countless amount of things and as I said again weight is the big problem so by keeping my GP under 1000kg and making extra 30hp(estimate) its better then trying to make a MINI with 300hp+ lol anyway u could think whatever you want to, its my preference.

    you do the weight to power ration.....943kg exact to 245hp.

    thats right, personal preference, so why were you bagging out the OP for choosing to modify a cooper? yes, its your personal choice to buy an overpriced GP that is basically a JCW with a stupid scalextric spoiler and in my opinion ugly wheels and a daft colour scheme! You can buy a JCW for about 7 grand less, get a rear seat delete and a new intercooler....job done. Exactly the same as a GP without the mickey mouse red mirrors....but its your choice. lol.

  • @birdlipbandit and if you disagree then just do the same but with the standard GP hp 218, it proberly still has more whp to your 250+ MINI. anyway gd convo I will post the pic of dyno soon.

    OK so vaguely i think what you are trying to say is that pound for pound you car is more powerful. Ok thats a fair arguement.....well it will be once youve done the dyno. Until then your arguement is still hot air. You estimate your bhp to be 245. But from the mods youve explained id estimate you might have LOST power. Back to back testing has proven the GP intercooler to be about the best out there...yes, even up against the mighty GRS (which i have too).

  • Sorry...im confused by this now. Are you trying to say that your Mini Cooper running 157bhp can make a 142mph top speed?

    Im hoping youve got that wrong because otherwise its nonsense.

  • What does the video show? You just threw a number to the wall and expect us to believe that? Oh, and now you throw another one, 300 Bhp on a Cooper S... damn, you make it sound easy. Don't get me wrong, but some of us need proof.

  • R53mcs I found that out the hrd way lol she is running 159 bhp and the gear box seiezed up at arrond 140bhp bench mark new it was time to fit the cooper s 6 speed with a compitition stage 2 clutch and lightened flywheel. Made a great difference to my gear ratio and for cheek I kept my 5 speed knob lol will be selling her soon as plans to make a 300± bhp mcs :)

  • this is not the mini is about doh... is like anyone can make a car go faster with more bhp.... duhhhh :S (all ppl like you knw is to add more bhp n other bait stuff-go to it on some civic or something coz a MINI aint meant for this type of mofification)

  • @01blackkat01 FWD 300+....are you stupid why the hell do you want to give a Mini 300hp when 220-230 is more then enough... a bit daft mate, and dont forget its a FWD asking too much from the wheels to do, your bound to have tons of torque steer and I'm postive the JCW GP is what you would need to do it on, becasue any other cooper s wont handle that amount of power.

  • @Chingonshushu Actually MINI coopers don't get torque steer like, say an Neon SRT4 would, because the drive axles are both the same length. Try flooring a mini from a stand still without holding the steering wheel, it will still go straight. I know cuz I own one.

    222 at the wheels in my S....not a GP. no torque steer. lowered on coils though with 2 degrees camb' at the front and an lsd

  • @birdlipbandit yes I knw thats the reason I'm saying your better of getting a GP not an S but I guess if you have an LSD then you can limit it. I just like to keep it standart as possible just got my GP and with few mini mods like filter-ecu-polished pistons- lighter flywheel-carbon shafts and puley reductions etc I'm at 245 at wheels which is more then enough to leave M3's behide through the corners...and dont forget the GP is under a Ton (well mine is anyway with further weight reductions)

    245 at the wheels with those mods? So your saying about 270 BHP? Unless youve got a ported and polished cylinder head there is no way a GP is making 245whp. Got a graph to proove it? No graph...no believe!

    ECU...im guessing you mean remap, custom remap im hoping you dont mean a bluefin or some rubbish

    polished pistons/ forged pistons...wont make any difference to power output

    lighter flywheel....faster 1/4 mile maybe but again, not a power increase

    pulley reduction....already part of the standard GP...11% i think....

    GP run at about 220 BHP if im not mistaken...where have you picked up the other 50?

    you can capitalise WEIGHT REDUCTION all you like; weight reduction WONT ADD POWER. yes, itll improve your quarter mile time....but its not doing anything towards the numbers you claim

    GRS top mount intercooler.....a couple of HP over the GP intercooler maybe none...tested them back to back?

    denso plugs...better spark....power increase...hardly

    ignition pack...again more efficient spark..but negligible power increase overall

    ATB diff.....again, make zero power difference...more power to road...nothing to the BHP of the car

    short shifter....no power added

    gearbox mounts..no power added

    braces..no power added

    coilovers....again, handling no power added

  • @birdlipbandit you missed it out AGAIN....WEIGHT REDUCTION..ohh and Goodyear Eagle F1 also forged JCW 18in wheels lighter meaning power power to the wheels....add all the things I've done to it which makes it around 40hp or so not 50. props not worth all the money but one of the quickest in the country and fun watching your car been unique...as it is one of 1500 in the world,

    no, youve missed the point. let me say this as clearly as possible. reducing weight DOES NOT ADD BHP TO YOUR ENGINE. You claimed you have 245bhp or whp..one or the other which is it exactly? youve listed a load of mods, brakes, suspension which make no more power.

    what power mods have you done to the engine to make this claimed 40hp? is it 40 or 50? you havent even dynoed the car have you? have you dynoed the car? what was the result?

  • janspeed manifold....you have a GP mini which comes with a stainless JCW exhaust...so you have swapped one hi flow exhaust system for another one...so youve added basically no power by doing that at all..unless its running decat which will only give you a couple of BHP at the max

    Alta air intake is WORSE than the standard JCW box that comes with the GP....taken power away

  • @01blackkat01 Brother nice mini but you need to get to cinti,ohio with it sometime. I'm not boasting but my " 2" mini cooper will blow buy you! I have a 06 and 07 S. i'm eating 370Z 's and V8's.

  • hope you save about £500 up in the bank to cover the cost of fitting the new gearbox, unless you switched it out for a cooper s 6 speed getrag as the midland and getrag 5 speeds get chewed up real fast once you get over 140bhp

  • MiniHazza what ends are you from. not yet found a mini that is faster than mine. been to nuff shows now and still noone. closet one was one guy at the mini 50th at silverstone.

    my engine does not need to have fancy alluminium pipings and painted hoses to be modified. hardly anything on my mini engine is stock i just kept it authentic. i'm a power house not a show case!

  • I'm from portugal... And i have a message for you... Watch out ;-) I have a Mini One..and i'm going to 160bhp to ;) and it is not a kit from nobody... I hope you are not using Stock injectors .. but if you are really making 157 bhp you know what i'm talking about.!! i would like to talk to you so we can talk about some of our N/a powered minis!
