Who is to say that I don't actually believe in smaller government?

2. The government does end up screwing everything up. Did you ever notice that when Defense issues end up being decided by a politician, they always get screwed up? Don't you think that the decisions on how to conduct a war, should be run by military men?

I always laugh when republicans say they want smaller government, since they always do the opposite. It's also hilarious to hear them say the government messes up anything it touches, but then praise the military, which last time I checked... was government-run.
Not sure what to make of your post. In the simplest terms, a TRUE republican believes in less federal government, and more done locally. A True republican believes that when something goes wrong in our lives, the people you should turn to first are your people...government should not be your babysitter, nor should they be your parents. Government can be a failsafe HOWEVER when the government gets involved in anything, they tend to make the situation worse.
A republican is someone that is defined as a party that doesn NOT believe in welfare for all. They do not believe in allowing illegal immigrants to allow anchor babies to create new burdens on our society and are seeing that perhaps those anchor babies born to illegals should not automatically be Americans. Republicans understand that running a gov't is no differnt than running an enormous business where unpopular cuts must be made for the bottom line. Whereas, the DEMs are for big govennment.
