Now it has been rebuilt with with larger hangars a full size flight deck and a ski jump. So large multirole fighters like the MiG-33 can launch and land on it.

Well.. I would say the ramp shortens the time for a jet to get airborne thus making it preserve more fuel and makes it able to get into offensive/defensive role. This is actually a very funny obervation, russians always tries to find some small detail that preserves energy in some way. While americans depend too much on technology and their economy.
@Opiuth The ramp has nothing to do with saving energi. It was the only way for the Russians to make a functional aircraft carrier. This becouse they couldnt produce the much more advanced catapult system you have on the US and other western carriers.
There were also other big differences. The russians where more like big cruisers with the ability to launch aircrafts. Also the ramp was not on the orginal Kiev class carriers, this was edit later for the Indiens.

Ski ramps can only launch lightly loaded aircraft, and cannot perform in bad weather such as high winds. Only way for Russia to launch heavy aircraft would be too use pretty much the entire deck, sending one off at a time. US can send 4 off in under 30 seconds and have 4 more ready to launch.

6 × 2,011 hp (1,500 kW) diesel generator 4 × fixed pitch propellers. No nuclear power, try again please. Nimitz is far superior to any Russian carrier. US has always been a decade+ ahead in carrier/aircraft technology.
