Hi, I have just discovered the insane awesomeness that is the Dudu series (being a Herbie nut since childhood, I'm amazed I never came across Dudu until recently!). What is the best way to get an English dubbed or English subtitled copy of the first (and, if possible, 5th) film? I can play PAL/alternate region DVDs (I'd like to just buy the R2 set, but it doesn't appear to have a dub track or subtitles). Any info would be appreciated! Thank you!
Glad to here from another fan of this very overlooked series. There are some ways of getting copies of the English dubbed films, but it's a bit messy. Australia to my knowlegde was the only country to release all the films in English on PAL VHS/Beta and thus the missing pieces can be put together. Ebay would be the best bet to find either Superbug The Wild One/Superbug Rally or Son of Superbug, or you could find someone who owns these films and can make a copy for you.
@FilmwaysVTC Thanks for the info! I'm off on the hunt. Interestingly, I believe the 3 US DVDs that have been released are unauthorized copies (Televista/JefFilms is a notorious bootleg label). Still, nice to see any kind of DVD release of the English versions.
@FilmwaysVTC Ah, I just realised the DVD of SUPERBUG THE WILD ONE *is* the first film. Silly me! (The alternate titles got a bit confusing). And I may have just found a copy of SUPERBUG CRAZIEST CAR IN THE WORLD. Now I just have to track down the 5th one...
Filmways - Thank you very much, I really appreciate all the info. I guess the US VHS would be no good to me as it's the wrong format, although I have a multi-region DVD player so a DVD would be ok.
I am yet to try the USA DVDs as I don't like NTSC and US DVDs as the quality is always poor. The price of the Superbug USA DVDs are very expensive too and I bet no extras are available. I would advise to keep looking on ebay as the Aust VHS' do pop up sometimes. I have a Hong Kong release of one film and that is in PAL format or do what I did and find a 16mm print of the first Superbug film ;)
VHS' and DVDs of these titles are available in larger volumes in the USA (bar Son of Superbug). I don't think they were released in the UK, but Australia got them. I have all titles on VHS in Aust, except for Superbug On Extratour (known as Superbug - Craziest Car in the World in USA). The film you are referring to with the nuns is "Superbug - Craziest Car in the World" (Aust & UK title) but is known as "Superwheels" in USA. "Craziest Car" was released on VHS in Aust in 1981 by Video Classics.
Guys, can you help me track down these either on DVD or VHS in English. I'm especially after the one with the nuns, when in the rally all the cars crash due to the mirror. I believe it's the fourth one..?
