  • Biofuels are not the way to go. The energy equivalent of 2 gallons of gasoline is required to get 1 gallon of corn based ethanol. It is a net energy loss, and drives the cost of corn up, raising food prices and other products which use corn starch, etc... as components.

    Wind, Natural Gas, Nuclear are the way to go.

  • @Knossos22 "with the current design" is the key phrase. Fourth gen reactors (fast reactors) may be the future for base load supply on the grid. As far as portable power, biofuels grown on low input nutrient deprived soils with high diversity cultures may do.
