@molax7 No its still your app u can choose to use it when ever you want the task killer just stops the app from running in yout background untill you use it again
so the battery still gets drained when u put it in stby? or press the lock button that blackens the screen? is that the same thing? lol sorry im a beginner lol
why does everyone use these task killer apps? its already on the phone. just go to settings, applications, and running services. you can close down apps from there.
do you know how to get the retro flip clock application to work that the htc phones have the large one cause i have the samsung moment with google and it never seems to work. i have foind others but none are as polished looking as the retro flip clock that i have seen on the htc hero
The only problem with this app is that it Conflicts with GPS (but I don't know how or why). So when it is installed, GPS apps (live Navigator or RunTracker) have a hard time finding GPS satellites. After doing lots of research, I ended up deleting it and now my GPS apps have no problems. Other than that....good app.
This app is unnecessary. To see what is draining your battery tap the menu button on the home screen. Go to settings->About phone->Battery use. Nine times out of ten the culprit will be the display(doesn't really matter if its off ). The best way to remedy this is to get the power control widget(comes installed already) and keep it on its lowest setting. You can also set up automatic brightness but personally i never need it any brighter unless I'm outside. I get great battery life at 1000mHz
i kill my apps before every time i put it back in y pocket. Also i have found an even better app for this. Its called "SystemPanel App / Task Manager". it gives you all the statistics for your phone including what has been using battery. It tells you all the memory usage the battery temp. and you can archive all your app onto your SD card. This app is really cool
I appreciate the video, but it is true that some apps open automatically. I can kill 9 apps and check again and have 5 apps available to kill, which I have not opened. Nonetheless, it does help with battery life. BTW, I am astounded that posts which should be constructive in nature can be so crass. Do these people talk like this to strangers when face to face?
Do Not kill the Alarm Clock app. if you expect to wake up at the time you set it. I did once and it stops the alarm from going off unless you reset it after killing apps. I learned that the hard way... by being late to work a few times. Just uncheck the Alarm Clock app. and it will stay unchecked always. Just a few words of advice.
so i killed all my apps by accident. does that mean i can never use them agian or do i have to wait until i turn my phone on agian for them to work again?
Just a note to those that aren't aware that your phone has to be rooted for this. If you don't know what that is you probably shouldn't consider doing it
As far as I understand you have to be rooted for any CPU changes, and also the description for the SetCPU app says you have to be rooted to use it. I have not done this myself though.
...srsly, why the fuck would anyone have 20 apps running? no wonder why people are complaining about battery life..cus they don't know how to close shit out. what a bunch of dumbasses.
Even I've closed all apps using this app my battery life still pretty shit. I think there is a flaw in the making of the phone. Crappy phone will never recommend to anyone
task & service killers are great when you are awake and near phone all the time so you can check in on the phone every once in a while and manually kill tasks, but what about when you are away from your phone for a long time or sleeping? those killers don't kill services as soon as they open. an app that kills background services & tasks automatically would be best. "automatic task killer" app comes real close, but i think it doesn't work while phone sleeps. it needs to be woken up to work.
There is a slight problem with task killer... it kills the core apps that are essential to the phone and by killing them it takes power. The droid uses a "linux kernal" system that works by having all memory doing somthing. by killiing the apps, memory is left idle. then when the phone needs the memory again it has to 'find' it instead of using what is already in use which ends up using more energy. I suggest no Task Killers
IM NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN BUT WHY WOULD A FUCKING APPLICATION HELP NOT DRAIN THE BATTERY WHEN THE CELLPHONE IS FUCKING TURN OFF!!!!! fucking ignorant people.... (im not tryng to be mean)
actually when you tap the power button on the droid it doesn't turn off, it only goes into a sleep mode so in the background the apps are still running, causing the battery to drain. soooo maybe you could watch the video and listen before you make yourself look like a total dumb ass :D
this app is a must ...and may i add that if you dont mind spending 5 bucks, i personally think its worth getting the "donation" version since it has an "auto-kill" option that you can customize to a given period of time without having to manually kill apps on scree it's a real battery saver.
task killers DO NOT help with battery life. in fact, they could make it slightly worse, depending on which apps are killed (they will just start up again in the background). please read up on how Linux works, because you really don't need task killers for the purpose of saving battery.
@ajm144k hi i believe that when he mentions "killing apps to save battery;" he refers to those apps that make use of your sync and gps features which really drain the battery if left unchecked. apps by themselves dont do much to the power supply.
that's a great app, it's a must-have... but there's something that you can actually configure... You can set the "click" action as "switch to", and then the "click and hold" action as "kill"... That way, you can actually kill things faster, without having to click or un-click a thing... also, you could use that as an "alt+tab", to switch among apps...
@motodroidlife Hey, you should reccommend eRay app. Show how to use it, this actually kills every more pointless backround services so for me using ATK I would drop to about 65mb free space, using eRay, I get 103mb and I only use it about once a day, and use ATK at maintinence after finishing with a app. Also tell people to clear all apps caches.
I bought advance task manager for a buck. I used this app(advance task killer) but apps automatically start running again after i end them they dnt stay off most of the time I dnt even choose some of them nd they kill my battery. Nd with advance task manager it keeps them closed they dnt come back on..
@motodroidlife the reason isn't the app I can assure you cause obviously it still happens with advanced task manager but also with task killer pro (I think it's called). I think the system just routinely opens certain apps up. You probably noticed your games don't keep reopening.. or any music app. Just things like your settings or amazon mp3s >:( Dunno if you've played with it but advanced task manager has an option to auto end certain apps at different intervals. I'm too lazy to try it but ya.
I can't find the "free ap store" to get this application to kill tasks.
My battery goes dead immediately. And, every time I open an app I have it running again....so I have contacts about 4 times, I have market 2 times, I have maps 3 times. I bought this Droid yesterday, and I never HATED anything so much in my life. No instructions, ZERO help from Verizon.
Hopefully you like the phone now - since it's been 3 months since the above comment. The Droid takes up to 3 weeks to become user friendly to some of us according to the salesman . I'm on my second week and reallllly like it now!
Great review! I have a question for you, I have Verizon but I am a little skeptical about the future of Android? Do you think it is better than other platforms? thanks
when i say "kill" an app, i just mean stop it from running in the background. the app will still be on your phone, just not running anymore until you open it up.
