Well said Noel. Glasto was the original hippie fest then the WHO and all made it rock out. The 80's saw it go all political (billy bragg, etc) the 90's indie scene enveloped the festival after that then until now.
Some hip-hip inspires an attitude in some listeners thats not conducive to a festival (ie violence). I think Noel was saying that its the end for the festival AS WE KNOW IT TODAY and basically if thats the case, he was mouning its passing, . Glasto will keep on evolving though...

I'm a huge fan of both Oasis and Jay-Z. While I love Jay-Z and would love to be at a festival where he headlined, a lot of people wouldn't. I can see where Noel Gallagher is coming from. Generally, people go to one of these festivals to hear indie and rock music. Sure a lot of people would have enjoyed it, but it may have had a hand in low attendance (if there was low attendance, i dont know). Point is, they're both great, but different people have different tastes.

What you say about Oasis is true they were never outstanding musicians, but Hip hop and Rap has always been centred around using technology to make music easily and quickly due to the nature of midi/syths and Mc recording programmes like pro tools.
It has for better use of a term subverted popular music as an art form, lyrical yes it is very clever but in terms of musical prowess its one step up from a 4 year hitting some pots and pans.

Well said Noel. Glasto was the original hippie fest then the WHO and all made it rock out. The 80's saw it go all political (billy bragg, etc) the 90's indie scene enveloped the festival after that then until now.
Some hip-hip inspires an attitude in some listeners thats not conducive to a festival (ie violence). I think Noel was saying that its the end for the festival AS WE KNOW IT TODAY and basically if thats the case, he was mouning its passing, . Glasto will keep on evolving though...

i agree in some respects that commercial hip hop is shit (not all of it, but a good percentage of it) but for those of you who are saying "fuck Hip-Hop" and "hip hop is rubbish", dont forget that their is more to hip hop than just jay z.. its just people like jay z and many others who have took hip hop and are using it as a way to make money, not music.... props to the real underground artists who are out there making the music and treating the genre with respect.

I'm a huge fan of both Oasis and Jay-Z. While I love Jay-Z and would love to be at a festival where he headlined, a lot of people wouldn't. I can see where Noel Gallagher is coming from. Generally, people go to one of these festivals to hear indie and rock music. Sure a lot of people would have enjoyed it, but it may have had a hand in low attendance (if there was low attendance, i dont know). Point is, they're both great, but different people have different tastes.

Stop brown nosing him... he's alright but it's obvious that he can occasionally be a tosser... and he insulted Jay-Z... probably one of the greatest rappers ever... who everyone loves, and he insulted him infront of all his fans... that's why people dislike him...
