  • i have the FZ-10 i have had the FZ-1 but i sold it now im kicking myself ive got

    NFS

    Road Rash

    Loads i love it

  • the goldstar is fine you obviously had two crap units.....i never had problems with the goldstar in fairness the panasonic i had naped ot after i had it for three years...... goldstar still fine

  • I bought a FZ-1 when it was first released. The machine broke down in 5 months. This was bad back then because there was one that knew how to fix it back in 1994. My friend that worked at the video store where I bought the 3DO did a swap for me.

  • how do you clear the memory on this thing?

  • @ldlrdrllrr good question....I don't know of any factory restore.....I do know that there was a memory manage disk available.....its probably not too cheap on ebay.....let me know if you find a solution

  • @ldlrdrllrr The sampler disk#2 had a memory manager and the Game Guru had a manager aswell.

  • @ldlrdrllrr goto the settings just click clear man

  • it's probly quieter than the 360.

  • I KNOW THAT YOU DONT LIKE THE GOLDSTAR VERTION BUT WHAT ABOUT THE Panasonic 3DO FZ-10 OR THE Panasonic ROBO 3DO OR Sanyo TRY 3DO Interactive Multiplayer

  • Good point...I forgot to mention those. The Sanyo TRY was not a US release as far as I know...and I really don't know much about the reputation. The Panasonic FZ-10 is pretty reliable, but not the same quality machine. If you can get your hands on a ROBO...they are like the holy grail of 3DO systems...mush people I have spoke to that have them have had no complaints...I a speaking from experience about the Goldstar...they can't even make a reliable microwave...

  • @jlchambers82 Goldstar is actually LG, and they have gotten better over the years, one of the best PC 4x CD-Rom drives I ever had, that still works, but is in storage, was a GoldStar, but I will agree the Gold Star 3DO sucked, my late father bought one new back in the day, and it did not last a year 1/2 before crapping out. I was his first, and last console he ever bought because of that.

  • it was one of the systems that tricked people. if you bought anything but sega and nintendo back then you were tricked. when th eps1 came out people thought it was another trick, i did too but i got one in '97

  • All of mentioned titles were also available on the PC -- with much better frame rate.

DVD video quality? The 3DO uses a normal CD and uses old, poor compression technology (MPEG1) at a low bit-rate due to the limited capacity of the CD.

Hence the video quality is not anywhere NEAR the quality of MPEG2 on a DVD which is many times the size a CD.

There was nothing special about video on the 3DO, the PC could do the same, only on a lot more, and better titles.

  • @getpagesize I was only referencing Wing Commander.....you are totally right....no comparison to PC....but for a console there was no comparison.

  • awsome video

  • Thanks for the info. I am looking for a decent priced 3DO and I have seen those Goldstar ones but didn't know what the difference was. I will definitely stay away from those.

  • Nice video! What's the best controller to get for this system?

  • Yeah, Persona 4 is indeed a great game.

Great video. I never owned a 3DO and never heard of it until last year. Really interesting system.

You definitely see a rise on eBay whenever games are getting popular. Steel Batallion for instance lately.

Anyway, good luck with moving and I'll wait patiently on some new vids.

  • I used to work for Electronic Boutique when the 3DO came out and i got to play most if not of the titles for it was just never care for it but my friend Dalum still owns one and enjoys it.
