Wow, they're singing about getting married and being together forever.
Not about fucking every girl/guy they meet at the club, and men calling girls bitches and hoes, and other vulgar stuff these artist sing about now a days.
Two small town Texans; Ray Hildebrand from Joshua, Texas, and Jill Jackson from McCamey, Texas. Did this song while attending a small Baptist college; Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas.
Rush Limbaugh used this song as a theme song whenever he discussed the chronicles of Bill Clinton and Paula Jones. I never did hear how that matter was finaslly resolved. The President was apprently less than a gentleman.
'Alfred' blasted this song on his record player from his window, for me to hear from mine! I was about 14 than, and embarrassed. My name is Paula. I am now 59! What a sweet memory! His family moved away, and I always wondered what happened to that skinny blond haired boy who once wished to kiss me. ;)
What an awesome song.... so soothing and meaningful...and the lyrics are so clear. Unlike present day songs are all rubbish!!! This is what I say is REAL SONG!
Whenever I hear this 1, I always think of my good friend, and fellow Christian, Paula Trent. Billboard's 124th #1 hit of the rock era. God bless ya, sister Paula!
This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.
Much as Like the Ernie and Denise version, this one is so much better. Unfortunately I didn't arrive in Oz until 1970 so missed out on Paul and Paula until now 2010. Great song, great singers.
These were the days when you courted your girl. Not how fast you could get her into bed. 51 years later still married. I had to ask her dad. Scared the shit out of me.
eeeeeeeeeeee. we used to make diane gaffen sing this song to us every dinner time at school .she was great singer .who ever nos diane tell her to sing it to u he he.
I was in HS 62-66 here in New England and this song was just the tip of the iceberg. New hit singles were making the charts almost every week. My favorite AM station was WMEX that served the Boston market. This crazy DJ Woo Woo Ginsberg spun the 45's all weekend, used cow bells and whistles to set himself apart. Great time to grow up. This music was history in a 56 Chev. It'sall right here on Youtube
This great single was recording in 1962 for Philips label, yet after 48 years have a special charm for me , and always I wish return to those marvelous 60's the best tiimes for hear this beautiful tunes. From Lima-Perù I am Luis Espinoza Bazàn Dee Jay of international music. Congratulations for this golden hit
I was ten years, give or take a year, but I loved this song, so much I wanted to marry a guy named..."Paul", yuck...no no-but I knew every word, and I would sing out my bedroom window with a 45 going around on the turn table of my portable player...1964..or 1965...aw true love...
Gran clasico,da igual si vendieron muchas o pocas copias,lo que queda es la calidad(ahi estan gran cantidad de grupos negros magnificos que vendieron poquisimo).
Dispite I was only 12 yrs. old when it came out ... this was my dream song .. so tender - so loveable ... one of the heartmelting tunes from the early 60s :-)
Appreciate this great sound ya uploaded here ...from Budapest
This is a cute little song of the sixties. I remember it being #1 on the charts for a number of weeks when I was a teenager. Listening to this song has the effect of making you like your steady even more. It stimulates the romantic side of imaginations, and causes lovers to think of walking down the aisle! This is a great little song, one of my favorites.
@etbella3 Did you also take a royal doo-doo in the royal loo, Sir Paul? To Sir With Love. Someday, when you discover I am your one true soulmate, will you sing the song Bring Back Howdy Doody to me as we exchange wedding vows?
I happened by your comment and had to tell you that I'm glad you posted it. I agree with the content of your comment and think it was a profound way to describe the purity and innocence of a young couple as they experience the wonder and magic found only in unspoiled affections. Thank you.
First time i heard this was in january 1963 riding to school on our old school bus in marysville washington......our busdriver always had the radio on KRKO in everett washington. good a.m. station that is still there, but only broadcasts news and sports now...anyway the bus was always quite noisy untill a good song came on . First time hey paula was played ...every one stop talking and listened. what a moment. We all knew we were listening to a futer classic. Great times they were.
