Andy is sick? Bummer, what a voice he has, I grew up with the original Andy Williams Christmas Album, I still love it. I hope he {Andy} gets better soon, God willing, we definetly pray for a speedy recovery, I love you too Andy God Bless you, Amen!!!!
@bigrue I couldn't agree more...you don't have to shout or put a lot of slur in your songs just to prove that you can sing...no matter what the song is, if you have the right emotions, the right tunes and the right quality, you're a singer...these legends proved that singing the song from the heart is much better than having all the technology to hide your true talent...they never had to use them...theirs is the true voice that withstood the test of time...no matter how basic they may sound...:)
I am a culprit of forgetting the fact that LESS is MORE. This fine gentleman knows this very well, as he hit all of his notes with integrity without the need to be virtuosic. For instance, Mariah Carey's recording of this song is beautiful, yet 100% more virtuosic. If people remember to go back to the basics, their sound will reflect that of the legends like the one in this video. It's the most wonderful time of the year, so Happy Holidays to everyone! :)
I nvr heard of this guy untill my mom bought his cd. he is awesome. I wish people of today's generation would apppreciate the older generations of singers because these guys probably inspired some of today's great artists.
I know a guy who used to work in a casino and Mr. Williams used to come in and my friend says he was the nicest most sincere guy. Plus he's a great singer who doesn't get caught up in all of the crap that most singers/actors do.
Andy Williams does an inspiring version of the classic Xmas song. Others did their version of the song iclude Nat King Cole, Josh Groban, Bing Crosby, Susan Boyle, & Luciano Pavarotti among others. And certainly not the unholy version by that fat brat Eric Cartman.
One of the best voices in business, also a good person. I pray for his recovery and that we will keep hearing him sing. Thank you Andy for all you have done, all the beauty you have added to our lives.
Yes, Andy sings these songs well. Very well. He's 1 of the few singers I didn't listen to in the olden days and that's working out great for me now. I can't listen to the Christmas songs sung by the artists I once did, for personal reasons. But that's OK because these are just as good as any I did listen to. Thank you for putting them up.
Always a favorite of my parents, I grew up listening to Andy Williams, and I continue to associate him with the holidays, and this song in particular. There is no better version to my ears and my heart because his voice simply melts into the words and the melody. So many performers try to gospel-ize what was composed as a hymn; Andy honors and preserves the sacredness of that hymn as well as its profound message. Beautiful...
Andy to me will always be the one singing this song. I really miss those Christmas specials he did. It was becoming a tradition with me. God bless you Andy & like Ronald Reagan said his voice is a national treasure.
i went to see him last week in branson missouri and he couldnt perform due to his fight with cancer and i pray he will be back next year for his 75th anniversary in show business god bless u andy williams we all love you andpray for your speedy recovery
@jsroadpilot I hope he recovers, if not, he might die and his death will be on the news and the media. That would be a very sad Christmas to remember. Sorry for getting involved.
@jsroadpilot didn'y know he was still alive I have a couple of his records, when I listen I want to change my life, stop drinking & go back to the Lord
I also grew up with this...This was my Mothers Fav. song. I can see why no that i am 55...Love your MoM...She gave birth to you and took care of you... XOXOXOXO.. for you Mom.. THE BEST TIMES
Any's voice is so mellow and relaxing. I wish I had been able to see him perform while he was younger. Thank God for youtube..., I can come on here and get my fix of his music! What a lovely man.
I grew up with this playing at Christmas many a year. I've been far away from home a great deal the last few years and this always seems to comfort me when I'm feeling alone.
Makes me cry and think of my Dad who I miss so much. This takes me right back to my childhood, and wonderful memories with my family. Seemed like a simpler time back then.
As a teen ager in the 70's my friends would ask me who my favorite singers were. I told them Andy Williams, Perry Como, Nat King Cole. They thought the Beatles were a better choice. I said "Oh no, my choice was smooth as silk" Never have I heard a more beautiful Christmas song as "O Holy NIght " by Andy Williams.
I could agree more...I feel the same way about the old crooners! They are timeless classics and I always pull them out and dust them off every once and while to remember what singers really are! "O Holy Night" is my favourite as well. It can still bring a tear to my eyes, after all these years. Happy Holiday Everyone!
Truly, it would have been a crime had Andy Williams not sung O Holy Night. Like Celine Dion, his version epitomizes the sentiment and passion that singing this song requires and evokes to anyone listening to it. There are just some songs that should not be messed with by adding all kinds of yodeling and hiphoppy R&B sillyness them. Like Mariah's version...I like it, but it's pushing it.
Andy Williams did THE best version of this song I have ever heard. Give me Andy, any day and forget the women. It's just not, to me, a woman's song. It's a man's song and I could listen to Andy forever!
This reminds me of my childhood my mother had an album with different singers singing Christmas songs she had this one with Andy...I love his version the best!
@lala5732 andy williams album came out every christmas at our home too. brings a tear to my eye, that warm safe feeling of being at home as a small child at christmas. every time i listen to this stuff it takes me right back.
Along with the version by Christian singer, Evie Tornquist, this version of 'O Holy Night' - that has been stated by others - is also my favorite. This is available on the CD 'Christmas Treasures' which is a compilation of songs taken from Andy's Christmas specials from the 1960's/early 1970's. The video of this is available on (2) DVD's which also highlight performances from Andy's specials.
