  • you need to load vista on to the netbook for it to be a true comparison. I dont even think that netbook will work with only .5 gb ram as vista requires one i believe

  • Pff, Install Vista too in your Aspire One..!!, and i'm sure if u install Linpus on the toshiba, it win the comparaison | 3*

  • sorry not ur toshiba ^^", but ur Dell xps

  • i like vista better than xp even if the boot up is slower . so when i get my aspire one im gonna install vista on it

  • I suggest getting Windows 7 for it. Vista will bog it down.

  • ya get windows 7

  • after the boot up is completed, windows >>> vista, just because it doesn't accelarate faster doesn't mean it don't have more top speed!

  • Oh I agree completely, the Dell is much more responsive in its OS than the Aspire One, but the Aspire One is not built to be a speed demon, it is meant to surf the web and type notes. Also, I've been pretty unsatisfied with the Dell.. I've always been a Sony fan, and I am going to have to go back to a Vaio for my next laptop, Dells are too cheaply made and overpriced to be worth it (at least their top of the line model).

  • well the vista one still booted very fast like 41 sec is acceptable for me

  • can you get windows for your aser?

  • They offer Windows XP on the hard drive version of the Acer Aspire One.

  • acer aspire one wins!

  • oh COMON!

    this is Vista versus linplus!

  • Yes, but it is an high end $2000 laptop vs a $300 laptop.

  • still vista.

i dont see this as a fair fight at all

  • i just got that laptop

    haah :)

    i love it

  • This makes no sense at all!

Comparing two different pieces of hardware running two different operating systems.

What is it that you think we should be learning from this? What is it that you think you were attempting to show? I'm going to have to agree with 'mobilephone2003' comments above. This is two minutes of my life I will never get back.

  • I did it because it is important that a small, portable netbook is fast to boot and shut down, and comparing it to a mainstream laptop seems the best way to do that.

  • well its just for entertainment and guess what if you want to know then just go to google and search

  • speak up

  • Sorry, I was using the crappy mic on my webcam. Nice webcam, but I should have used a better mic.

  • Hi

It seems like the webcam is really nice. Which one is it? the mic is so so though, but alright.

What would be nice is if you could also test the webcam and the mic on the Acer One, don't you think?

    Thank you.

  • I used the Logitech Quickcam Pro for notebooks, which is on sale at Amazon for $69.99 USD. The webcam on the Aspire One is alright, though it's only VGA, and the mic works, but I prefer using an external mic. That said, they both work well in a pinch.

  • even thou it vga i have this net book windows xp with 120gb hdd cant i get a hd web cam usb to work on this net book

  • acer apire one mic uses hd realtek aduio i hve and the sound is inseane

  • It would be much more of a true comparison if the one had Vista.

The dell would probably smoke it if it had the same OS

  • I doubt it. The hard drive and BIOS of the Dell are not designed for instant on, while the One is. Also, the One can access files nearly instantaneously because of the SSD, while the hard drive in a normal laptop takes a while to spin around and move the head to find the data it's looking for. The One may have little RAM and a slow processor, but it is is designed to start up in seconds, and it does.

  • Not to mention that most linux distros start up quicker than Vista even if the comp isn't designed like the One

  • Nice to see the SSD working like it should, boot in less than 20 secs.

The XPS is not bad either.

ps. like your homepage, its familiar ;) ig

  • nice love them dells there well nice

i hope to get a aspire soon
