A company offered to recycle some old desktops the local community college wanted rid of. I was building my first desktop at the time and needed some case fan mounting screws. They generously let me pull the old desktops apart and take whatever I wanted free of charge. I got several fans, optical drives, and some other stuff from it. I wish to make a custom laptop cooler for my laptop with the scavenged parts. Any advice on how to make a safe(won't shock me or ignite) AC powered laptop cooler?
You build your for $73.44 and they sell them on Ebay for roughly £5 but the fans aint so good so buy the plasic of ebay and use proper fans ;) easier and cheaper
but dude , we look for cooling our laptops ,but we hate noise man , i rather use the hole ventilation system of my house than using this tablet . i suggest a thing but I'm just starting working on it , it's cooling laptop using a water cooler like office pcs
yeah right, its making too much sound.. maybe you should buy some silent fans, instead of using those noisy bitches. Whats the point of fan control if its always noisy:P
The best cooling pad ever made has just been released. Its from (Logitech) and its called (Cooling Pad N100) I highly recommend it to anyone I myself have tried many different cooling pads however none compare to the N100!! Plus you get 3 years warrenty.

hey man I also trying to make one, but I have no bloody idea how to make it run on a usb, I mean I am gonna attach 3 more fans to it but I can't find a way to actually make it run can you please give me an idea mate!!!!
my advice to u is make it run on ac adaptor, if u run it on usb it will mae ur computer hotter and ur laptop cooler will have no use. if u still want to run it on usb , usb has 4 wires roughly , 2 of them are power. find out which ones are power and use those.but i highly recomend using ac power
Well the thing is, my usb port doesn't connect to the laptop it connects the mains instead through a USB power supply, I know this wont help.... So can give me an advice on how to make it run on a ac adapter??? Coz I have no idea how would that wrok either!!!
yes i am sure. becasue taking power from your laptop and making it working harder will just make it heat up. and sometimes the most expensive things arent the best.
That's not completely true you just have to limit the amount of power you're draining from the USB, which is why most excellent quality coolers have two tiny fans almost unworthy of being stock CPU fans. All a cooler needs to do is move hot air away, and pull in cool surrounding air. Nothing more, or less. Using giant fans, or more fans then needed is called over compensating.
Awesome setup though, real fancy, but not very portable. ^_^ Add a battery then it might be improved.
Pretty sweet bro... I would definitely try to bribe you to make me one, but I have a Mac Book so no need to worry about trying to cool mine down from the bottom. But pretty sweet bro, pretty damn sweet
do you make the fans blow up at the laptop OR make them suck hot air away from the laptop? could you message me the answer please because i aim to make one soon ... THANKS IN ADVANCE
@qwerty20065 yes blow, because cool air displaces hot air faster than sucking the hot air out. in theory and in perfect condition, sucking the hot air out would be better, but then you're talking about putting the fan physically on the part where it is creating heat, which is impossible to do on a laptop (desktop you can). so pushing cool air in and let the cool air "sucks" the hot air out is better in this scenario.

R u sure, that using the USB would be of no use in cooling the laptop....cauz i brought this really expensive Laptop Cooler....but it only has USB
Maybe i have to use a USB to AC Adapter.

@187closed accually usb fans are just gimicks, they dont generate enought air to really cool the laptop
shermanlee85856 1 year ago
@187closed The usb powered laptop coolers do not add any significant amount of heat, and anyone who tells you it does is telling lies.
The downside to USB laptop coolers is they aren't designed for your model of laptop specifically so they probably wont be that effective :)
