  • After seeing the beginning of the video, I said, "She's kidding right? Never stretches? Impossible!" I guess some people are naturally flexible. Sadly, I have to work really, really, really hard at it. You have given me some thoughts and inspired me. Did you go to Adult Nationals? Thank you for this video.

    Nah, I'm not kidding... I stretch once a month! Some people are naturally flexible, some more than others, but I know how much stretching hurts... my weakness is my back... it hurts like hell when I stretch it!!!! My friend keeps pushing me into doing oversplits, but man, that hurts!!

    I didn't go to Adult Nationals this year coz I haven't tested my Bronze Freestyle yet, I'm testing it next week, so I'm definitely going to Adult Nationals next year! :-)

  • I'm 14, turning 15 on april, I'm going to start ice skating lessons in the summer :)

    I'm practicing on learning the splits! I'm not that close to the ground though, which sucks. =_=

  • I'm jealous, I wish I had started skating when I was much younger!!! You will get close to the ground on your splits, you are young!!! Just keep stretching! :-)

  • Haha I kept thinking "Aww i wish I started when I was like 8!" Because thats how old all the olympic figure skaters started! Also I found out my spine is slightly crooked so I'm starting on yoga, so I hope that helps me too :)

  • the Olympic figure skaters start when they are 3 or 5 years old!!! I am lucky I can do splits, I am just able to do them, I don't know why, considering that I am old and I never stretch! The skating didn't come naturally though, I've been skating for 2 years and the bruises on my knees and my sore butt show all the hard work, hehe. I am trying to do a move that Sasha Cohen does... and omg, I wish I had her arabesque spiral, I can't hold my leg up that high!!!!

  • Starting this summer I'm going to try really hard to learn how to skate and become good :) I'm not going to pursue like an olympic career since it's too late for that @.@ figure skaters look sooo graceful! they remind me of angels :) i'm going to keep watching your videos because your one of my inspirations now!

  • well, I mean, it's my natural flexibility...as a child i was never able to do splits, I guess I got more flexible over the years???! lol

    I think skating loosened up my muscles. I still want to get more flexible, I know tons of people way more flexible than me!

  • Sigh... I wish i can do those. It would help me more for martial arts. I take classes and stretch like more than 2 times a week. I can only get close to a front splits it sucks how girls r always more flexible than boys :(

  • I have a hard time doing the side splits. Everytime I try to do it I some how end up in the front split position!

  • Glad to share the secret! the secret is that... there's not secret!!! I just happen to be able to do splits, dunno how coz I definitely hate stretching, it hurts, and I don't have time to stretch everyday, hehe.

  • wow lucky you..yea i hate stretching i wish i could go to like a pro--- like a physical therapist.. but thats expensive..but they would help me stretch without you know pulling muscles and overs stretching...

    ill just have to work at it on my own...ill manage lol

    I had a car accident recently(got whiplash).As part of my physical therapy I have to do stretches.Its amazing how all the muscles can affect each other....for example,stretching my leg and butt muscles helps relieve the tension on my lower back.I envy how flexible you are...I'm pleased just to be able to touch my toes!

  • sorry to hear about your car accident, I hope you are ok!!!! Stretching is good, unfortunately I hate stretching.... it hurts, makes me tired, and I don't have time for it! I do wish to start a stretching routine someday, I can't just expect to do a split anytime anywhere effortlessly like I do now forever, I have to move it or I will lose it! (my natural flexibility, that is)

  • Nah, I dont do yoga, I wish I did yoga, ballet, or something! I am currently not doing anything to get more flexible, but I should definetely start stretching as often as you do

  • OMG Tricia! those splits are amazing! and that y-spiral=O I would like to see that on ice! but...how do you do that with a once a month practice? seriously I couldn't do that. It's funny that you say you want to become more flexible when you already are super flexible haha! anyways, post more stretching vids please!!

    Maybe if i stretch everyday instead of once a month I might be able to do oversplits someday... and I really want to be able to do Biellmanns off-ice, I will post a video of my off-ice Biellmanns, they don't look to good and I don't have the balance to hold them haha

  • for a woman that stretches "once a month", you really have a great amount of flexibility, and your form is very good also. keep up the good work - imagine how limber you would be if you stretched once a week!

  • Thanx!!! I am serious, I literally stretch once a month haha. Stretching is painful lol! I am considering stretching more often, it's just my crazy schedule that is not helping...

    btw, r u from Kansas City? I lived in Kansas for 6 months haha.

  • Tricia, I finally agree with you! It's really too bad that it was not possible for you to learn figure skating when you were a kid! However, now I have no doubt you will make it to the senior level! Go for it!

  • Hey Patricia, excellent flexilibity, and don't say you are not flexible some people spend a lifetime on stretching and never getting where you've reached. Please continue posting more flexibility videos, you are an inspiration.

  • Tricia are you making fun of us by saying you're not flexible? you're MEAN hahahah, bad girl! Hey guys, she never stretched in her life, that is how she was BORN. And she calls herself "not flexible". if she's not flexible then we're all a piece of wood! If you continue working on these positions off ice you'll become the best spiral adult skater on youtube. I'm serious. You're the best late beginner I've ever seen (I'm gonna tell "alemao" heheh he'll love this vid)

  • Very nice splits! It can't be natural if you couldn't do it as a kid, must be the result of training? You don't ususlly get flexibler as you grow up.

  • oh my goodness... I didn't know you are sooooo flexible! This video is awesome! I find it very inspiring lol. I can never do side split! and my back is not flexible either... =[ Hey, You should try doing biellmann!

  • I can do a Biellmann but I do it with my skates on coz that way u got the blades to hold on to... doing a Biellmann on the floor hurts my elbows hehe

  • Really? Elbows? i usually get my shoulder or back or finger hurts... lol. I hate grabing my blades with bare hands. Have you ever try an I spin position?
