  • This was a great triumph for Westbroek and Kaufmann-- beautifully moving.

  • May they have long and great careers.

  • GOD BLESS THEIR CAREER AND KEEP THE CRAZY MANAGERS AWAY FROM THEM!!!!

  • I love her actual sound here, but could do with a teensy bit less vib.

  • @lamusicahera I do understand, especially at your age of 97, there have undoubtedly been many legends of the past you enjoyed. I, for myself, would also like to say BRAVA Leonie. We do have recordings of these legends and we should be very grateful for that. I think your statement about singers not being able to use correct placed voices nowadays is a bit too general. Leonie would have loved Eva-Maria performing Sieglinde with Clifton Forbis, I'm sure. Shame she isn't here anymore.

  • Ms. Westbroek was ill--she sang the first act of opening night and had to be replaced. She sang gloriously on the HD broadcast.

  • @johndlabella Well, maybe she can spend the next few months with you. She might learn how to sing. :) She cancelled all of her upcoming performances due to health issues affecting her voice. To be honest, she'd probably better see a doctor instead. Eva knows how to sing Sieglinde. The evidence is all over the place, also on YouTube.

  • sister and bride, huh? only in wagner.

  • @cantorandopera I don't really think so. It's great to have her remembered, but this isn't the perfect place, I guess. It's kind of disrespectful to the artist singing here. That's where the comment should be about, in my opinion. With all due respect for Leonie Rysanek. :)

  • wonderful...!!!! thank you so much for this video. Many greetings from Switzerland.

  • The Redemption motiv Sieglinde sings before she runs off in Act 3 is one of the most gorgeous passages of music ever written. What a privilege it would be to sing it.

  • A big voice, and a big vibrato . . . I will hear her live next month . . . I wish I could have sung Sieglinde, her music is so gorgeous.
