  • @doowoplover48 excuse me. i love this music. i haven't said anything disrespectful.

  • I'm 30 now and I love this music so much. I often wish I was a child or teen during this time. The current music doesn't hold a candle to this! LOVE IT!!!

  • I miss the old days.

  • @Geerse23 there only old if you are!

  • I love this music!

  • I wish people would stop telling their age, and then sharing some story about how they like this music. It's not a miracle, it's just good music. This sort of music is so rich and colourful. I feel like the best stuff happened in the 50's and 60's, and since then, talent and identity has just been melting off of artists, until we're stuck with what we've got now- "gangster rap", "hard rock". The past decade has produced some great music, but I'll never look back on it the way I do these tunes.

  • I was a teenager in the 50's - great music, times were a lot different then. No one had much money but boy did we know how to have fun and this music takes me back in time - thanks.

  • Is the original version of "I wonder why" by The Boppers or Dion and The Belmonts?

  • @savage642 apparently its by the boppers about a year before dion

  • what is the song at 2:11 :D

  • Slickville Acappella Street Corner group rocked with DooWop at Mike's and Damico's

  • @MsQuestor for sure Slickville rocked!

  • Doo wop music is under rated. Awesome harmonizing an era of music unmatched.

  • A true classic! How a song should be sung!!

  • @glr0661 Is it called "The Angels Sent You"? Where can I download this song? If you know please let me know.

  • I really enjoy harmony. DooWop was built on well blended harmony. I love bluegrass music for the harmony, as well.

  • am 71 years old and this is the mucic from my days as a teen in Boston and New York. I saw all of these groups, live, on stage at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater with the alan Freed Doo Wop Rock and Roll shows. Freed is the man who coined the phrase, Rock & Roll.

We had a street corner group and sang "Come Back My Love" originally by the Wrens, on the Arnie Ginsburg Show on WMEX in Boston when I was 17, in 1956

  • What's the name of the song that starts at 4:23?

  • @romeostyle The name of the song is "The Angels sent you"by The Danleers.

  • this is a great clip joc pittsburgh pa just keeps gittin better

  • Want To Hear Some Never Before Heard Oldies Music Come To My Page

  • cóż nikt w Polsce nie potrafi tych klimatów odgrzac

  • i need some help, i'm making a subtitle and i came by this word ' doowop ' and didn't found it in any online dictionary...

would somebody please clarify the meaning of this word to me, it's a music gender or something like that?

  • Doowop is a music genre it's used to describe the very vocal and sounds made in songs from the 1950's to about mid to late 1960's. Listen to Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers song Why do fools fall in love...and you'll hear why its calle doowop. That is the best example I can think of! Good Luck!

  • @Chaniebear22

Plus the backing only knows the one word - doowop.

  • @conniff44 dont u just love oldies??

  • @kid3499

Oh yes, nothing like this around today.

Todays kids wont be able to join in with their music when they get older, the artritis won't let them. :)

  • i love this music me hace sentir muy nostalgico

  • This music is far better than the stuff that you hear today. Most of today's music is made by machines. Doo wop is true music. Btw, I was born in the 90s

  • Well thanks - this music is timeless - born in the '50's or '90's - enjoy!

  • there is a reason this music has with stood the test of time, and that is the pure, raw sound it's all talent! It's wonderful! =] Btw...I was born in the early 90's.

  • Well see Chaniebear22 - that is the reason why it has lasted all this time!!! I am happy to hear that you like it and are so young. I believe it is the harmony's and messages of the songs that have given it it's stamina. IT WILL NEVER DIE!!!

  • i love this music too but am also a huge fan of rap and hip hop. just because you might not like a certain genre of music doesn't mean you can't respect it. Gotta send props out to all the oldies, especially Frankie Lymon, and all of hip hop artist who know what they are doing

  • Everytime I listen to this style of music, I remember back to the more happier days of my life. Listening to this style of music seems to smooth my problems and troubles away.

  • awsome

  • I cant believe there are no coments on here.Doo wop like this is where real music began, just amazing vocals, elvis and the majority of white 50 and 60s rock n roll owe a massive debt to the quality that they robbed. There is no music that can send a chill up your spine like this

  • Diamonddog (Bowie?)

Real music started the day people started singing. Doo Wop robbed from the big bands and jazz before them. And they from the traditional forms before them. I always wonder what Mozart would have done with a synthesizer or a telecaster and a cuople of foot pedals. Today's music is still trying to find a path. Give them time.

As an aside, I love this stuff. But not more then Beethoven or more than Springsteen. Its all good man.

  • I lov singing these. its the best kind of music. wish music was still lik this.

    anyone agree?

  • I totally agree! I am discontent with today's music. I want real music back. And yes, I am a young person.

  • I DO!

  • @B00mzY0D3dz I do to, this is the BEST music there is and ever will be. :)

  • 16 years old here and i think this is way better than the music nowadays. DOO WOP forever!

  • i love this music!! hec i love the 50's! sometimes i feel like i was born in the wrong generation.

  • Hey Guy's quick question I hope to get a answer? Are all these songs by the Danleers? Somebody message me I want to know the Tracks names if you have them. I appreciate it. Great upload, JLR

  • @Jlr405 no vote bnp

  • this record takes me right back to an easier time.

  • does anybody know the title of the song that starts at 6:48? it sounds like jackie wilson

  • 'Were You There'....... is the 13th track on the CD

  • @glr0661 Would you be so kind to as to tell me the song and artist of the second track? :) Thanks!

  • @slouchpcs72 sorry its took so long but its LUIS JORNAN & HIS TIMPANNY5, ITS CALLED, PEACE OF MIND. and i like it x

  • Keep them coming this is music with a meaning.

  • under the bay one boardwalk in 1960

  • im 15 and my dad has always listened to this music. and it has seriously grown on me

    now i love it

  • im 11 and i realy love the 50's love songs and the 60's rockin roll people say that im crazy that i love this kind of songs because i should be lesting to hip hop and the song now are so mistup talking about geting trunk and having sex so if u thimnk im right say i

  • @MiniLoveCC Youre too young to be talking like that!

  • @MiniLoveCC These are roots, child.

    You're not crazy..

Keep searching and you'll be transformed by the music.

  • @MiniLoveCC dude ur awesome and im 13 and im just like that i love these type of songs and they r so awesome!

  • @MiniLoveCC thought you were 13..... try and keep it straight

  • @MiniLoveCC Mostly because music back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's was the golden age of rock & roll. Back then music came from the heart. Now it comes from getting paid for it.

  • @MiniLoveCC

I'm in my early 30's and love listening to this kind of music too. My friends think I'm weird. But I still listen to it because it's what I like, and if I conformed then I wouldn't be an individual. Keep listening to the music you like, don't listen to what everyone else tells you what you should be listening to.

  • @Christos1978 - No it;s your friends that are wierd...they are the sheep that are locked into a disfunctional processed plastic society. Free thought would freak them out by the sound of it.

  • @MiniLoveCC nei

  • I'm 18 and Doo-Wop is really on my top list of music. The progression of music has reached a downfall ladies and gentleman. Even now as you sit and listen, some shithead is making trash and getting just as much popularity as these classics had in their hayday. Doesn't it peeve you? I love GOOD music. Not all music, but GOOD music. Music is free speech and thought, but make sure other people care what you freely say and think. Doo-Wop > Trashy music.

  • I´m 36 years old now, and I have loved this kind of music as long as I can remember.. True music.

I also like rock like Johnny Cash and even more modern music like for example Billy Idol and Guns n roses. Just good old plain REAL music. But doo wop gives me a such a ... happy feeling. :)

  • I am 34 ! I too have loved this kind of music ever since I can remember ...... makes me day dream ... I love it !

  • im 24 and i think this is true music real music and not the bullshit thats on tv these days

  • i agree..music of yester era has an evergreen tune to it that can nvr be forgotten..

  • young people getting into doo-wop music with heart and soul I'm glad to see young people into this.

  • These songs don't have an age factor. Either you love them, or you don't. Me. I love them. My buddy is a producer, he says music has passed me by. Maybe not!

  • i'm 18 and i bump these oldies =D

  • ya man I am young as well and I love these songs, even though we are not from this era, it is beautiful music. Have you heard Sam Cooke's stuff?

  • very nice songs, very good memories

  • hey

  • I am 68 every time I hear this song or some other do wops from the 50' s my mind drifts right back to my teen years growing up in the Bronx.

  • Hey macq; - messgage here from macp :-)

So you grew up in the Bronx in the '50's too! Congratulations. The right place at the right time wasn't it? My memories include Sat night parties in finished basements with stacks of 45's, Friday night confraternity sock hops at the church hall, my transistor radio glued to my ear, NYC D.J. Allen Freed, the neighborhood guys doing really good accapella (sp?) 4 part harmonies, and American Bandstand. We danced a lot then didn't we?

  • thanks for the music from one who has lived it and played it. and thanks for the view from twin peaks. i try to get to SF a couple times a year.

  • LOVE THIS, A GREAT COLLECTION

  • Grew up in the Bronx and started HS at Art and Design, Manhattan, 1957. One Summer Night - this was the New York sound. Fifty years later, it brings back instant memories of my sweetheart. A great sound for a great time.

  • go Bronx yep brings back memories

  • Just great, so much love in songs like these.

    Thank you so much.

  • im ten and i hate hiphop but i love this my dads band used to play stuff like this now there in to newer 60-90 stuff

  • i'm 68 and how i miss this great doo wop music. you had to grow up in the 50's to really appreciate this music. incidentally i grew up hoping to be a concert pianist. ibecame a chemical engineer. life can be strange

  • Hello sir,

Please allow me to contradict you.

You don't have to be from that time to love this music.

I'm 29 (born in 1979) and these are the only sounds i consider music. What they call music today, is in fact talking, over a negative with no feeling and no message to be sent. Being the only tapes my father had, this was too the music i grew up on.

Thanks uploader, keep up the good work.

  • i agree, sir. im 19 and i love this stuff. these are real feelings put into music.

  • In 50 years time people will have something to say about that i'm sure :P

anyway, this era of music was in the time after a huge war, everything was on the up, it was the golden age for just about everything, and it reflected in the music that was made by people. We live in a dark age atm, what with so many wars going on and fear spread around in the media, therefore music sucks. That's what I think anyway!

  • You're totally right!! Today's culture the 2000's isn't even a culture to me. The 2000's culture is a culture of lost, confusion, fear, self centerness, evil, some love and caring, materialism, and etc. I can go on but I will stop. :)

  • They made happy music even during the war. People were brighter and cheerier and handled things better back than. Even during the depression during the 30's music was slap happy. I think this generation is just emo and sad and they can't smile.

Finding color in this black and white world is a pain in the ass. Ask my neighbors, oh wait they are too busy frowning and being miserable and don't talk to anyone.

    Stupid new gen!

  • This is real music. Great memories of my boyfriend back in the Bronx, I have this one and other oldies. Thanks for sharing.

  • MUSIC that makes sense and you can understand. Those were the great years of music. It reminds me, dancing with my girl friend( now my wife).

  • I love this song..So romantic...Reminds me of the board walk in Ocean City Maryland...I was about 7 or 8 yrs old. My aunts would take me to the beach and they meet their boy friends at the beach and I remember some of these songs. Thank You for the memories.....

  • One of the all time greats! Memories of the 50's were a great time to be a teenager. From Johnny Ace to DooWop to have lived was truly a great tme. From the corner to the malt shops, sock hops, and the thrill of High School. Thanks Again!!

  • NICE

  • Beautiful compilation of Doo Wop music, I'm in music heaven. Thanks for posting information about the artists; besides enjoying the music, I am also acquiring knowledge about the artists. Thanks grl0661 for the upload.
