  • I agree the poop problem needs to be addressed. But I think what they discovered in India was that instead of using Earth Damaging Chemicals to Fertilize their lands, they just used poop and their problems were solved! Don't you think the days of sewage and fresh water waste are finished? I think it makes more sense to return poop to the land! And definitely not the Ocean with that junk mixed in!

  • thats my teacher!!

  • omg that's my teacher

  • @Zozotheweirdo hey zozo

  • @tubbinz hey vic

  • Victoria does NOT need more land-based sewage treatment plants, because our current, marine-based sewage treatment system, together with source controls, works very well.

Our system benefits both our land and our marine environment, unlike a land-based system which will not make any positive difference to our marine environment but will create thousands of tons of sewage sludge and greenhouse gases.

For more information, go to arrest.ca and rstv.ca

  • I understand that there is a coalition of doctors and other professionals AGAINST the sewage treatment. in Victoria as they're too cheap to want their taxes to go up. Imagine that - doctors and other highly paid pros being too frugal in wanting to deal with this problem. Boggles the mind .

  • As of May 2008, with the release of the Integrated Resource Management Phase 1 Study Report, experts agree that waste treatment needs boosted in Vic. And for all you who think this will cost us, sewage is a valuable resource and raw sewage contains 10 times more energy than it takes to treat it. according to the pessimistic view detailed on the report, these plants would pay then selves off in the first year. and produce massive profits annually. Don't take my word for it, read the report!!!!!!!

  • I got tired of waiting for the government to stop the dumping, so I moved back to Ontario.

Victoria is a sad place in so many ways, too much car theft, no employment opportunitys, street people, and poverty. Even the ferry fares are robbery. A bunch of creeps like Conrad Black run the city, so the conditions there will never improve for the average person. Young people should move out of Victoria and find a more prosperous life.

  • Conrad Black, now what did he get in trouble for years ago? I just can't remember but I'm sure it was something illegal.

  • Hello pathdaly - There are many big headed Conrad Black types in Victoria. These Oak Bay rich people control the Chinese mayor, which is why there is always space to build another golf course, but there is no land available for the construction of subsidized housing, or even an outdoor olympic size pool for children. Conrad Black's new name is prison is "Connie", and a big black man named Bubba has full rights to his ass.

  • Thanks. I have an idea he was involved in some shady business in Australia years ago though. I think that's why I know his name. Otherwise we probably wouldn't even have heard of him.

  • Very nice, and Very funny

  • Victorian government is not only polluting their sh1t-town their polluting the entire western seaboard including the fair city of Seattle! Victoria eats sh1t! Who in their right mind would go there on vacation or for any other reason!

  • a total copy of mr hanky the christmas poo bu still funny

  • a total copy of mr hanky the christmas poo bu still funny

  • Brooke, Brianna.........you two crack me up. Brooke you have the most hilarious look of disgust!!! haha and "I don't want just any old dump" badoom ching! Hahahaha

  • Great video Mr. Floatie. Thanks to you, the message is getting out there about our poo.

  • Hello adyblain - Did Victoria ever get a sewage treatment plant, or are the people there still shitting in the ocean?

  • You get three guesses and the first two don't count.

  • his voice is annoying as fuck

  • Way to go Mr. Floatie. It better be built by the time I get to Victoria. Such a nice place but so gross.

  • What is "gross" about sewage being released 60 meters below sea-level, and filtered so that only liquid and minute particles can be released?

I am only offended by the amount of dog poop on our beaches.

  • Um... If you've ever had to swim in the gorge, you'd know what's gross with that outfall. Plus, I'm going to assume that 99% of us clean our toilets. I'll also assume that of the 99%, only about, and this is a generous estimate, 20% of us use natural cleaners, so the rest of us use chemicals. That's a crap load of chemicals!

  • Ya, that Gorge is definitely not pretty. Not something I would want to swim in, and I'm not even big on kayaking around in it. But what makes you think it is the outfall that is causing its issues? I would look to the industrial pollution and other sources much more than outfall.

As for chemicals, many of them would still be discharged even if we had secondary treatment.

  • Industrial pollution is just as big a concern as the outfall, but before groups such as P.O.O.P can tackle issues that involve third party organizations, other than the municipality I mean, they need to gather the momentum from smaller projects such as this.

  • And yes, the chemicals would still be discharged even if we had secondary treatment, so why not kick it up to tertiary? Look 3 hours north to the Comox Valley, they have less than half our population and they have a tertiary plant. We also have much more funding then they do. The only reason I could see for not having one would be space issues.

(Sorry I had to break up the comment, not allowed more than 500 characters)

  • What we really need to deal with in Victoria is dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO). Victoria has one of the highest concentrations of DHMO of it in Canada, due to its climate. DHMO is eroding the natural landscape, and in its gaseous form is causing severe burns all over the city.

Maybe we can get Mr. Floatie to deal with the DMHO issue once he is done with sewage treatment.

  • But it is good entertainment. One of the better videos I've seen on YouTube. Thanks for making me smile.

  • But perception is everything -- so we'll build a treatment plant. In the process we'll waste money and pollute the environement much more. But we can get a gold-star saying we treat our sewage, and get rid of Mr. Floatie.

  • What a waste of money. The money could go to light-rail transit, improving downtown for pedestrians (let's make lower Government Street pedestrian only during the afternoon and evening!), improving bike trails, or just keeping taxes down so people can afford their homes a little more.

  • Having lived in Victoria for 36 years, I can say that I've never seen or smelled poop at the beaches I've been to, or while kayaking or whale watching. The proposed treatment of our waste is worse for the environment than keeping the status quo.

  • I hear that whales poop in the ocean near Victoria too. AND seals. Are we treating that pollution?

  • Mr. Floatie!! You are my hero. I can't wait for "Episode Number 2"!

  • haha! funny and true!

  • Can I order a copy of the video from Tourism Victoria? NOT! Keep up the good work!

  • Something smells ummm, fishy to me. Wait a minute that ain't fishy that's.... Well you get the idea. Polution is a global problem, but if it doesn't start on a local level nothing would ever get done. I'm calling the Mayor and the CRD.

Go Mr. Poopie GO. You tell them and I will and everyone else too. Once it starts it'll get done.

Energy from PooP, who would have known, I might even be cheaper than Gasoline. Bio-degradeable too.

  • This is hilarious! Good going POOP! Keep up the good work.

  • Hahahahaha. absolute brilliance.

I've been waiting to see this for a while!!

    ♥ Nikki

  • you even did the "hi dee ho" catch phrase lol. looks like a cheep rip off of Mr. Hanky from South Park.

  • mr. floatie, you're one my heroes! what a cute couple. where did they get their matching clothes?

  • Activism and street theatre meet in such a perfectly delicious way!

I look forward to seeing the entire season!

  • Great job.... I'll pass it to my fellow UBC env. sci students. Keep us posted aboutt episode 2!

    Ray

  • Brilliant!

  • This is a wonderful mix - as always, Mr Floatie - of humour and education/advocacy. So when do we get Episode "Number two"?!
