I note that this is a performance for entertainment, and in no way represents a form of prayer. These singers are not even wearing kippot. Are they Jewish?
Nice voices. Boring arrangement. I sing this version of Adon Olam in a band and we use great harmonies. And BTW, Jewish music in America is not dying. It's getting stronger and better every day. And this version of Adon Olam only uses the 1st 2 paragraphs of the prayer. Use all the verses and you lose your audience pretty quickly. Enough said. B'shalom.
@MavenGirl I think the audience liked it and Indo not d=see American singers going to Russia for performance. So these Russian tenors are doing great work for Jewish roots.
Nice but it would have been nicer yet for them to learn the rest of the verses of this prayer - there are quite a few more... As far "why there is no beautiful music and/or singers coming from the US" - try Zamir Chorale: beautiful music, beautiful voices united in Hebrew songs both religious and secular. They are from Boston. Unique as they are, they are definitely NOT the only singing group of this kind. Look beyond Brighton Beach - you'll find plenty of beautiful voices.
wonderful voices, sad to see that not many people understood that it's a prayer - maybe more people would pray this way...... wonderful voices, great video
The fabulous voices are coming from outside the US because most of my fellow Americans only care about sports and rock music, and don't give a hoot about vocal quality or good music... There *are* some fine singers who love good music, but it's hard to fnd an audience for them.
I totally agree Marion. Jewish music here in the US is dying a slow death, especially Cantorial liturgical music. What a shame that hundreds of years of music will be relegated to YOU TUBE. At least, thank G-d, it will be somewhere.
Absolutely fabulous voices. I just cannot understand why some of the most beautiful music and singers are coming from Russia, the Ukraine and Europe and nothing in comparrison from the US. Thank G-d that this beautiful music is being saved for all to see.
@cantortany : Our Cantor was an opera singer from Russia as well. Maybe Hashem blessed them with voices because of the area and the situation. It's the same with the remote area where I'm from ~ everybody sings and plays almost any musical instruments their hands fall upon ~ all by ear. B'H forever.
@Hatorah Thank you for your email. I am the Cantor at Chabad here in Tennessee...where are you from as you mention you are in a remote area. The one good thing about You Tube is the fact that you can hear wonderful music especially Jewish music. You should check out AVRAM FRIED a fabulous voice with wonderful music. Blessings to you and family
