MICK damn damn damn i wish i was alive in 1959, im probably around the same age as he is here, and i swear i would have married him ahhhhhh he is just so so so so HOT!
I just read a 2006 Telegraph article about his dad's death that said he was 13 yrs-old here. His b'day is July so it would have been before July '57.
Quote: And yet it was through sport, at the age of 13, that Mick made his first television appearance with his father. The two of them were featured rock climbing in Tunbridge Wells on BBC TV's Seeing Sport. (They also demonstrated putting up a tent and cooking a meal over a campfire.)
Article is RIP Jumping Jack Senior on Google search.
The Stones made their first-ever, national TV appearance on the British "Thank Your Lucky Stars" program July 7, 1963, four or six years (depending on the accurate date) after this Jagger TV appearance
Mick & The Boys made their first American, prime time TV appearance on "The Hollywood Palace" June 13, 1964.
The host of "Palace" that week was Dean Martin, who continually ridiculed the Stones throughout their American prime time TV debut. Oh well, "That's Amore!"
Both Martin and Frank Sinatra demonstrated an unusually high level (for supposedly hep jazz cats) of hostility toward British Invasion rock &roll.
And yet each were forced to accept the then-new musical wave after their respective kids began playing in rock acts--Dean Paul Martin in Dino, Desi & Billy, Nancy Sinatra recording "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'."
Lucille Ball and Jerry Lewis, by contrast, seemed much more accepting of their respective kids forays into rock & roll.
Lucy personally attended son Desi Arnaz Jr.s Ed Sullivan Show appearance (even taking the legendary bow from the audience) with Dino, Desi & Billy., Lewis co-hosting the pop music TV series Hullabaloo with son Gary and his band, The Playboys.
In any event, this clip is at least five years, possibly as much as seven years before The Rolling Stones made their American television debut (on June 2, 1964) on ABC-TV's "Nightlife," hosted by the late Les Crane, who was the first, late-night rival of Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show."
From where, "atariman1988," did you obtain this video? Did you record this off some TV broadcast, or do you have the actual film reel and insert that descriptive box yourself in the editing process?
There seems to be a discrepancy, evidenced by one of the commenters ("Ssssstones") here, about the actual broadcast date of this "Seeing Sport" episode on which young Michael Phillip Jagger appeared, whether 1957 or '59?
I've got a feeling this recording came from 'TV Heaven' on Channel 4 (UK) in 1992 - a series of retrospective evenings which featured both complete programmes and (as in this case) clips.
I agree. It is clips such as this that make You Tube more than just a repository of pop culture, public domain and viral video images. This is a truly rare find.
I only wish the entire program (and more episodes of it, in which young Michael Phillip Jagger was also featured) were uploaded.
Jagger ain't good looking, boys'n'girls. Not now and not then. But I love the Stones.
