  • great shoulder turn ...

  • Thin.com lol

  • The key to McIlroy's hip-turn is that there is none during his back swing. Thus his shoulder-turn to hip-turn ratio is huge, and creates massive power coming forward. His hips stop after impact because they have gone far enough. It is his follow-thru that then pulls his hips just a little further. The other thing that creates swing speed is his wrist cock that he holds until the last possible moment before release thru the ball. Very few amateur golfer can duplicate that. Multiplies arm speed.

  • @drob5127 it sure does! you must be good.

  • @drob5127 Right on as far as that comment regarding his hip turn on the backswing,,many " golf instructors " on You-Tube telling us to " clear the right side on the backswing " and " turn the right hip behind you to make a full shoulder turn ".

Utter rubbish ! you will acheive your own particular distance with the driver by making a full shoulder turn while restricting your hips.

And nobody should say that can't be done,,I'm in my sixties and that's how I acheive maximum distance.

  • comments..wow..yay golf!

  • Rory's hip turn is unbelievable. His hips move faster backward than most players hips turn forward. Unreal amount of natural talent he has. To me, #1 in the world.

  • i love how everyone comments on his hip turn...if peter kostis didnt mention it in a biz hub swing vid none of you idiots would ever have noticed it.

  • Head back, knees left, jump when you hit the ball. That's what makes this kid so great.

  • not much blacks can play this sport well, its alot of intellectual work.

  • check my swing out

  • Hi speed? Looks awfully slow to me.

  • actually, it's not rare at all - it's a law of motion.

  • They stop after he hits the ball.. So its ok.. It allows his hands to get around his body

  • As soon as I see a video created with Windows Movie Maker, I know the quality is going to be terrible.

  • shank

  • funny how comments on golf are so intellectual and other videos are not. hahaha yay expensive sports

  • @99KFAM99 it's normally 20+ hackers regurgitating drivel they've heard on instructional dvds etc......

  • @99KFAM99 Genius!

  • its amazing when you watch rory when you notice that just after impact his hips STOP for a split second and even move backwards, they then carry on... just watch it and look for yourself. i dont know if that effects his power but is certainly a very rare trate and you dont see it with many tour players!!!

  • @grayham30 sports science actually did a story about that and broke it all down, it was really interesting. You should look it up if you have not seen it before.

  • @grayham30 holy shit ur right!

  • @grayham30 You actually see it with a lot of tour players. They are snapping their kinetic chain. Very powerful move.

  • @grayham30 this happens to all of the power hitters. I do it in my swing without trying and so does phil and tiger a couples and rory and hogan and nicklaus and watson and bubba watson. They all do it without trying its kind of odd

  • @PearlDrumsAllDay94 t's just a natural move. Most pros and good amateurs do it. Nothing special.

  • @grayham30 Rory hits every position a split second before most tour players hit theirs. The full swing is a sequence of events that all add up to one motion, but there is a transfer of force at all times leading to impact. By the time he's going through the ball with his right hip, the force has long been transferred to the left hip/side - all the right hip it does is trail. He goes through with such force that the hips stop, absorb the transfer and what you see amounts to recoil.

  • @grayham30

Thge reason for this illsion is the he is hitting a draw and in order to do so the arms have to remain intact with the chest. The hips begin the transition, the arms and chest follow, the hips must slow down in order for the arms to turn over properly. This is very noticeble in Tigers swings that he pushes right, the hips spin out and the arms do not catch up.

  • @grayham30 luke donald has the same thing for one. it facilitates a release imo

  • @grayham30 how would you notice that?

  • @sabird1 its a pretty obvious move mate...

  • @grayham30 no its not "mate"

  • @sabird1 um right okay, if you cant spot this with a super slo mo camera then... oh dear.

  • @grayham30 no thats not what i mean. Im saying how do you spot that part of his swing. Not like being able to see it with my eyes.

  • @grayham30 why are you looking down there? haha jk, it is pretty sick tho

  • @grayham30 i beg to differ. so do:

dustin johnson, robert garrigus, tiger woods, phil mickelson, johnattan vegas, arnold palmer, rickie fowler, sergio garcia

i stopped because i got bored. feel free to check them all out.

  • @bigboyrichbitch dustin johnson has the mother of them all

  • @bigboyrichbitch mate if you have looked at most of the guys you have mentioned swings, you will notice that you are wrong. the one exception would be Dustin as (like Mcilroy) he is incredibly powerful, yes all of these players you have mentioned do have a move in which their hips slow down and maybe stop throughout impact but NONE of them (except DJ, Vegas, Palmer) have this unique movement like Mcilroy in which the hips actually move in the opposite direction. feel free to check them all out.

  • @grayham30 not such a rare trate....its something picked up as a younger player....i've seen many people good or bad with it

  • @grayham30 Actually his hips stopping is a natural part of the golf swing at this point in the sequence. You see it with the really flexible players like Rory. His hips max out their separation angle with his upper body which then releases like a big rubber band... wearing a hat.

  • @grayham30 that could possibly be the result of the clubhead taking a turf. Mickelson, tiger and a lot of golfers does the same thing.

  • @grayham30 theres a sports science episode thats on exactly that look it up

  • @grayham30 I believe that's because he has a huge hip turn; most people who don't stop like have a more continuous hip movement that isn't so fast so soon in the swing.

  • @grayham30 its only because his hips are so open at impact, they have to slow down relative to the rest of his body at the end of the swing.

  • @grayham30 You are exactly right, this hip move you speak of comes from the locking of the hips (like when you tell off a girl and she locks her leg and gets into that bitch position) and what it does is prevent the club from going too high or low into impact. If your weight is properly maintained through the swing and you lock the hip before impact you have found the key to consistency.

  • @grayham30 Go you being a parrot for what they said on ESPN's sport science........

  • any golfers out there.. I have a not bad swing but can never get the complete shoulder turn that these guys manage especially braced against the right leg.. how do you get that level of suppleness!!! ive got basically a 3 quarter swing

  • @doyle430 It's difficult to give adequate advice without seeing ur swing, but if ur an older golfer, and despite years of trying, I would suggest not worrying about the "X factor" or the shoulders turning against the hips. Instead go ahead and let ur hips rotate with your shoulders and , if it helps, allow ur left heel to come off the ground a bit. It may not look all that pretty, but if u just can't get anymore flexible, then this would be the best way to get the club close to parallel....

  • @doyle430 now, if ur a younger guy/gal I would suggest searching the internet specifically for golf exercises. I was the same as u a year ago, but with countless practice hours and various stretch exercises my shoulder turn can exceed 90 deg. One thing u may try on the range is to swing 2 or more clubs simultaneously. The extra weight will force ur shoulders to turn past their limits. Be careful of course :) As I said, the best thing is to research golf specific exercises. Hope that helps!

  • @doyle430 Alot of Tour players dont have quite a full swing. As an instructor I dont think its necessary to have a complete turn and the fact you turn about 3/4 tells me at least you aren't making unnecessary compensations in your movement just to make a full turn. However-if you want a fuller turn this is the most simple thing you can do-in the backswing think about pulling your right shoulder behind your head (pull from the rhs). That's it! Its the most efficient way to rotate.Hope that helps.

  • pssshhh ya i told him how to swing.

  • he'll be the next legend

  • @ynot1688 Mannasero will be the next be thing. I think them 2 guys will be the next Tiger - Phil.

  • @ynot1688

    hes already there lol

  • Such a good transition...

  • BOOM HEADSHOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice
