I don't get why people hate the council. OK yes the turian councilor is a bit of a dick. But try to see things from their point of view. Would you believe if someone just came out and said that "ancient living machines will destroy the galaxy so i need you to start a massive war in the terminus to make sure its true." Throw em a friggen bone. IMO the renegade decisions solve problems short term, but they will bite Shepard in the ass in the long run.

im thinking that in MS2 when andersoon is in council and gives shepard his specter status again will back fire on him in MS3 mabey 2 version depending on if the council lives or dies and if its all human or aliens.
but if you pick udina as the human rep in the council then andersson will be and admiral and that might serve him better role on MS3 so i chesoed udina as the rep for that reason so we will see. and beside being a spectre in MS2 does not impact the story mutch.

I decided though that the council should live since you dont even get to see the all human council in me2 -.- Also Udina shouldn't be a renegade options imo, lets not forget he betrayed you while Anderson was the only one that believed you. @vanrok I saved the council. The other species didn't have a good opinion of us. They thought we were greedy, ruthless and only cared about ourselves. Watching humans, us, give our lives to save the other races, despite everything they think about us, it was pretty moving.
Affects the storyline, and even some characters. For instance, in ME 2 at the citadel, a turian that sells weapon upgrades is not racist anymore if you let the council live.

Because that's not an actual game save, its a save that shows you've completed the game and all the choices you've made etc etc. That is the save that ME2 will be going off of.
After the final fight? No. If you want to go explore planets you have to do that before you go to Ilos. If you have missions etc from The Citadel you need to do those before you head to Virmire that way you can complete them.
Well according to the FAQ, you can continue playing the game in ME2 after the credit IF your Shepard survived the final encounter. If not, you won't play him in ME3 (this may change in the future)
I really don't believe there's anything to worry about. It always does that but I'm sure your save will carry over to mass effect 2 as long as you beat mass effect 1

Actually, the old council was biased towards humanity. They treated them like utter shit. When the choice was to either save the council and make the job of saving the galaxy harder or not save the council and making the job easier arised, the only logical choice would be to save the galaxy easier. Humans would have been despised even if they would've been granted a permanent council seat.
By seizing control they assured humanity's future.
Now at first, everything's probably going to be like utter shit (everytime a new power arises and tries to govern over smaller powers, this issue arises) but in time, everything will stabilize and an era peace under human rule will occur.
which is exactly what our governmenr is right now. Peaceful? I think not. The council is actualy favoring humans amongst other species besides their own of course. The volus, turians, and other speicies already dislike the idea of humans moving so fast up to lead them...what do you think will happen when suddenly humans are top-dog...civil war maybe?
The problem with a diverse council is that humans would still be discriminated against. The only way they could actually be respected is if they actually ruled and managed to bring the alien races into a new age of peace.

I let the coucil lived, yeah, yeah, I know two of them are assholes, but compared to having an all human council, I would prefer the lesser of two evils. I don't know why, but I played through the whole game as an Engineer. Kicked some ass with only a pistol. That, and having Wrex and Garrus with me the whole time helped quite a bit, too.
When I first played this I thought "well if I focus on the sovereign, I'm not killing the council members, but I'm not abandoning the troops. everything is going to be ok!"
I saved the Council also. I figured that a reform in government would have too many repercussions in the next game. May be casting too wide a net. Haha.

I love the paragon ending in Mass Effect. A united force of all races against those pansy ass reapers. In Mass Effect 2 the Reapers won't now what hit them.
Best storyline to a game for a long, long time (only KOTOR and Baldurs Gate 2 I think are etter) coupled with a great soundtrack and excellent cutscenes. Shame we're going to have to wait such a long time for a sequal.
Mine Shep was a man, with red hair and same coloured beard, with a scar on his right eye.... He is a Paragon of all, saver of the Council... I choose Liara as "mate" and Capt. Anderson to be the Council Member.

There will be good odds that's going to happen, your probably going to have an all human council... Wonder how that will affect interactions with other species in your game

nah it isnt u can go with undina are just have a human chairman and all other races on other side of the council so basically humans make the choices others races provide support and u can probly choose witch races u want to join the council

I don't know why, but I played through the whole game as an Engineer. Kicked some ass with only a pistol. That, and having Wrex and Garrus with me the whole time helped quite a bit, too.

I saved the Council also. I figured that a reform in government would have too many repercussions in the next game. May be casting too wide a net. Haha.

Dont delete your save file on the one you want to use. The new game will upload your game file and as such the desicions.

I was a biotic, but then it seemed to hard (I was an idiot and din't know about upgrade points...) so I restarted as a soldier.

I played through as a soldier also. Guns are fun + I had Liara on my team a lot of the time. She balanced the equation quite well.

wow this is so non epic cuz the main hero is som how wearing makeup, lipstick, and eyeliner, and eyelash extenders. This is why there shouldnt be women heros in games unless theyre tough and still feminen inside like ASHLEY

I love the paragon ending in Mass Effect. A united force of all races against those pansy ass reapers. In Mass Effect 2 the Reapers won't now what hit them.

Best storyline to a game for a long, long time (only KOTOR and Baldurs Gate 2 I think are etter) coupled with a great soundtrack and excellent cutscenes. Shame we're going to have to wait such a long time for a sequal.

Mine Shep was a man, with red hair and same coloured beard, with a scar on his right eye.... He is a Paragon of all, saver of the Council... I choose Liara as "mate" and Capt. Anderson to be the Council Member.
