I think we have to understand that as a species, we are in overshoot. Sooner or later we will have to face the fact that this planet simply cannot support this many people. Period.
Hydrogen is one of the dumbest ideas in the history of energy. For one, there is no hydrogen, it has to be made from electricity or from natural gas. Second, it's dangerous. It makes far more sense to pump oil out of the ground at an energy loss than it does to use hydrogen. As a matter of fact, as oil goes up in price, I think we will see a lot of oil being produced at an energy loss.
