  • Not every man's bass, but it sure is a cool idea for those willing to learn to play on it well. And it looks really pretty, like the neck is wearing a long fancy lady glove.

  • A brilliant mix of artistry, instrument invention and technology.

  • I knew him "way back when" when he played in the band Pretty Boy!

  • i went from Obscura videos to Bass videos...

    wtf just happened here? O_o

  • The most costume bass ever

  • does anyone know what loop pedal he used?

  • The bass with a lever of vibrato?

    Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what distortion was it? O____O do want

  • @NeeLkun

It was many, look at his shit man

  • Ive been playing for 35 years. I wish playing like this was as easy as he makes it look.

  • steve vai??

  • supernatural!!

  • I have a bass liek that, except mine's only fretted up until the 7th and the rest is fretless

  • That bass is bad ass... but the playing is just awesome

  • Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan what a brilliant idea...

  • Badass. And you know this guy likes Primus.

  • this guy is freaking amazing

  • he's doing alot with that bass, and he changes around the sound a lot with just the knobs on it, i wonder what kinda electronics he's got installed, there's definitely some sort of onboard EQ, i think that the tremelo is just icing on the cake

  • @meeebit go to the website Brown guitar factory to look the basses and guitars up

  • @Authulhu69 dont worry about it dude, i think its cool how they do the fretless part, cause well... they have the fretless part flush with the level of the frets

  • Tasty!!

A very nice guy, and very pleasant to work with.

In the years I've known him I've never had a chance to see/hear John play more than a few notes here and there but I had a feeling he was pretty good - al least a heck of a lot better than me! lol

He's having a good time with that riff - cool and original. Like the way he changes it up, keeps it moving.

    Where's the album Johnny?!?

    ~Matt

  • That's Cool!

John is a great guy, very pleasant to work with and very talented.

In the years I've known him I have not had a chance to seen/heard him play but a few notes here and there but I had a feeling he was pretty good - at least a heck of a lot better than me. Turns out he smokes! Tasty riffs and Very original. Where's the album, Johnny?

    ~Matt

  • Normally I can only stand bass solos for about 3 seconds max, but this is some really fine and interesting work.

    Well done!

  • Awesome starting riff, and nice solo. I tabbed out the first four meters if anyone wants it :).

  • BGF has worked on a couple guitars for me, John and his staffs workmanship is top notch.

  • Awesome concept!! Great playing as well!!

  • wow

  • Not only a great player...a great guy. He's done repairs to my instruments, and even though I was just a cover band hack, he treated me with complete respect.

  • dman.... best bassist ive seen in action seince cliff

  • Badass Bro.

  • I always wondered if there was basses with that kind of fretting. Turns out there is.

  • I would brutally murder him for that damn bass.

  • @MrBabyFister +1 LOL

  • @MrBabyFister Why? Just get a fretless and fret it half ways, then get a Kahler bass tremolo system and install it or get it installed professionally, it's not much work to get this on installed as it doesn't require much routing into the bass unline the more traditional Hipshot style bass tremolo which I believe works on spring tension and requires a lot more chopping to the body. I personally don't find that bass too appealing, it's nice, but nothing so insane that I'd steal it.

  • @MrBabyFister NO DUDE I WONT GET A JOB FROM HIM THEN!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want one of those damn tremolos for my bass, but I can't find one for under $450...

  • wammiworld(dot)com

  • check out the kahler 7410.

    they're about 200 average

  • i cant stop watchin this vid. makes it sound like a band, not just a bass player loopin bass lines!

  • A really good piece of skills an of course feeling, really great

  • That was absolutely F*#@ing amazing. I have only seen 1 or 2 other people on youtube, and in real life play with all those integrated styles. Keep rockin out, and btw dont let ppl tell you how to play your bass, most of em dont know shit about it.

  • whos the other i must know

  • I forget lol. It was some random guy on youtube. Zander Zon is one bassist that uses a bunch of different styles and its awesome, but he uses a piccolo bass. Check him out

  • ty i'll check him out

  • Excellent playing! Very interesting instrument as well, never seen a bass setup like that. Kinda makes me want to get a vibrato bar on my bass :)

  • Wow. that's right.

Maybe one day i'll play my bass like Johnny :)))

    Great Johnny.

  • John, you rock!!!

  • fucking amazing

  • ha thats pretty awesome

  • Wicked! :D :D :D

  • haha great bass player but idk i've never been that into bassists who make there bass sound like a guitar...but none the less good bass skills...regardless my bad taste

  • hmm... the notes didnt sound an octave higher

  • Uncle John Amazing!

  • John, it was great to see you again today, and I'm always proud to have you working on any of my instruments. Always in good hands NO DOUBT!

Great video. Keep up the good work.

BTW: Loved playing your custom built 6 string. A great feeling instrument. Certainly got me thinking and dreaming :)

  • great bass!

  • at 1:12 seems to anesthesia of cliff burton!

great video and also excellent bass player!

  • amazing - i love it....

  • This bass does not cost 6000.00

They range from 2500.00 to 6000.00

This is a bolt on neck and is about 4500.00 solidbodyguitardotcom

  • What kind of distortion pedal was that?

  • amazing :) i love how theres still a 24 fret lol

  • its to keep the "pop" when slapped so the string still hits metal rather than wood

  • This bass is perfect !! She cost 6.000 USD !! I will just have it in my dream....

  • I hear you

  • Wow. Man, that was awesome.

  • would a kahler trem fit on a fender j bass?

  • yeah

  • but would i have to make a big hole in my bass for it to go on?

  • unfortunately, yeah

  • is it worth it?

  • idk; I haven't had any experience with it.

  • danggg.

i dont play bass, im a beginner at guitar.

This video blew me away further than Jimi Hendrix' wicked solos...

  • Tremolo on bass? Never thought it possible...but sounds so awesome! Maybe I'll get one installed on my bass =]

  • Kahler Trems. They're AWESOME! Check them out!

  • Holy Smokes!!!!!

  • So badass!

  • Really fantastic playing!

  • 5/5!

  • Awesome!! Great!! My fav!! 5/5!!

    100% respect!!

  • it wuz hooked up to a mixer, so where can we get the recording?

  • Johnny, that is some badass jammin'. The divebomb is the sh!t!! It really looks like you're havin' a great time. And that EchoPlex is to die for.

  • I love the sound of an overdriven fretless...anything, I guess--like at that bit around 2:12.

Ever heard Karl Sanders from the death metal band Nile play on his 11 string fretless guitar? *drools* It's so godly! :D

This video is really entertaining! Impeccable talent, and, apparently, a great guy!

  • that is an awesome bass! i want one like it sooo bad, part fretless with a whamy bar

  • Smooth Groove. Seems like this is the wave of the future for the pro bass player.

  • Good Stuff

  • Nice groove, man!!

    That axe still kills!!

good to see you're livin' the dream!!

  • someone please respond to me i need to know if his tremelo is where youd have to drill out through the bass or not, if you do tell me if it effect the tone or sound of your bass.

  • His shop has performed numerous repairs to my guitars. He's gifted in so many ways its ridiculous. Great player...great repairman...great custom instruments...and he's so humble it's insane. No one deserves success more than John Brown.

  • this guy is awesome! the tapping sounded really good, i usually don't like it, and i like the trem, just to divebomb the fuck out of it!

  • love the tremolo, more vids showcasing it please...

  • I can't wait to get mine, these are absolutely amazing!!

  • Stellar chops John. Very impressive. He also repaired a few of my guitars, most recently my 79 Les Paul, bringing it back from the dead and it is now a tone MACHINE!. John keep up the good work. Best wishes. Blake B.

  • John Brown Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!
