Not every man's bass, but it sure is a cool idea for those willing to learn to play on it well. And it looks really pretty, like the neck is wearing a long fancy lady glove.
he's doing alot with that bass, and he changes around the sound a lot with just the knobs on it, i wonder what kinda electronics he's got installed, there's definitely some sort of onboard EQ, i think that the tremelo is just icing on the cake
@Authulhu69 dont worry about it dude, i think its cool how they do the fretless part, cause well... they have the fretless part flush with the level of the frets
In the years I've known him I've never had a chance to see/hear John play more than a few notes here and there but I had a feeling he was pretty good - al least a heck of a lot better than me! lol
He's having a good time with that riff - cool and original. Like the way he changes it up, keeps it moving.
John is a great guy, very pleasant to work with and very talented.
In the years I've known him I have not had a chance to seen/heard him play but a few notes here and there but I had a feeling he was pretty good - at least a heck of a lot better than me. Turns out he smokes! Tasty riffs and Very original. Where's the album, Johnny?
Not only a great player...a great guy. He's done repairs to my instruments, and even though I was just a cover band hack, he treated me with complete respect.
@MrBabyFister Why? Just get a fretless and fret it half ways, then get a Kahler bass tremolo system and install it or get it installed professionally, it's not much work to get this on installed as it doesn't require much routing into the bass unline the more traditional Hipshot style bass tremolo which I believe works on spring tension and requires a lot more chopping to the body. I personally don't find that bass too appealing, it's nice, but nothing so insane that I'd steal it.
That was absolutely F*#@ing amazing. I have only seen 1 or 2 other people on youtube, and in real life play with all those integrated styles. Keep rockin out, and btw dont let ppl tell you how to play your bass, most of em dont know shit about it.
I forget lol. It was some random guy on youtube. Zander Zon is one bassist that uses a bunch of different styles and its awesome, but he uses a piccolo bass. Check him out
haha great bass player but idk i've never been that into bassists who make there bass sound like a guitar...but none the less good bass skills...regardless my bad taste
someone please respond to me i need to know if his tremelo is where youd have to drill out through the bass or not, if you do tell me if it effect the tone or sound of your bass.

Normally I can only stand bass solos for about 3 seconds max, but this is some really fine and interesting work.
Well done!

I love the sound of an overdriven fretless...anything, I guess--like at that bit around 2:12.
Ever heard Karl Sanders from the death metal band Nile play on his 11 string fretless guitar? *drools* It's so godly! :D
