@Vebinz I'm not a republican, but I really just don't think the first Bush really did enough in office to really make me form a negative opinion. When leading a week-long invasion of another country and throwing up on the Japanese PM are the most memorable moments of your Presidency...you're A-OK in my book.
I'm of neither parties or idealogies, I just find him more low-profile than the his three successors who played too much the part of "nation's therapist and shepherd" for my taste.
McDonald's did that promotion again in 1988 after it was such a disaster in 1984?
I really like the Olympics and all, but I don't think I've ever gotten teary-eyed thinking about them. I definitely have never gotten teary-eyed because I was holding a coin.
At times, the lotto ad seemed to resemble a perfume commercial.
W. was an awful president, but he did a pretty good job as governor of Texas, which is why I stupidly voted for him in 2000. Sorry.
I wonder how much hate mail the olympic athletes got if they didn't win the gold. Probably stupid letters saying, "I had a big mac riding on your sorry ass and you let me down! Thanks to you I can't eat!" lol
In the Coke commercial, if you look close, what's happening is that Walter the cat tries to grab the Coke when Demi walks by but she ignores him, so out of revenge he trips the selfish human which almost leads to her demise. Good god that is a big can. I do remember they were thicker back in the day.
is it me or does George Bush look like Conan O Brien?
Bush's speech here reminds me of alien-Clinton's speech on the Simpsons. "Forwards, not backwards! Upwards, not forwards! And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!"
I miss the old designs of soda cans. Why can't all the soft drink companies change the cans of sodas to the way they looked like in the 80's and early 90's? I remember seeing the old Coke cans when the "Coke" from the Diet Coke logo was on the cans of regular Coke. I want a time machine really bad.
yea that Buick Regal Commerical is cool I own the same car in that commerical the car with the wire rims that is blue is the car I own but my car is Maroon Red and its the same kind of body frame like the 1988 mines a 1989 Buick Regal I cant believe my car was the national car of the olympics thats the best
I wonder how many Olympiad coins are still around from the '88 Olympics, or really has a meaning to those who where suckered into buying them, and the choice of gold or silver is the best. I liked the deep emotion and tears that actor pulled off.
That had to be a depressing meeting in Canon's advertising department when they announced they could only afford one member of TV's Odd Couple. Dreams shattered and hopes crushed.
Diet Coke commercial is everything a commercial should be...and more! Very cute and funny.

I agree with you on Bush. personally, I'd have preferred him over Clinton (though not Perot) four years later.
Funny though him talkiing about not allowing the US to be weak again. But before him was Reagan, is he implying Reagan made AMerica weak?

So strange because Coke's cans have said "12 oz" forever. Either the actual cans were bigger, or today's soda drinker is getting SCREWED!! LOL

There are quite a few of them on eBay, though they're not going for much; $10-25 usually. The higher priced ones don't seem to get any bids.

So I'm guessing Canon couldn't afford Tony Randall and had to settle for a cheap knock-off to serve as Klugman's counterpart.

McDonald's took a bath on that scratch-and-win contest. I loved when the Simpsons later parodied it with Krusty Burger.
