The reason I'm typing this comment now is simple: I'm pretty sure that people never end up watching anything related to such films on YouTube accidentally. You just can't get here randomly. I've made my first film for those, who love to see a smooth motion picture with long takes. My motion picture is not smooth yet, but I will be able to create such films one day with CRITICISM of people who love films by Kurosawa, Tarkovsky, Kitano. Please, see my channel. I need your criticism badly.
I shot my first short film (32 minutes, It's on my YouTube Channel) thinking about "A Scene at The Sea" and "Dolls". "Dolls" made me appreciate every hug and every little touch a boy and a girl have through the film. I made my first film under heavy influence from Kitano's two films dedicated to love, not Yakuza societies. I took a lot from Kitano, adding my own: I wanted my characters to talk rarely. And whey they talk, they talk quietly, because words are not important. Actions are.
Hello, horror movie fans!!! EndlessCreations Pictures is currently in pre-production on a upcoming film about scary dolls, not your tipical scary dolls movie but!!, but a scary movie horror fans especially fans who happen to be a bit scared of dolls ,okay freaked out by them. so to help insure our movie to keep you on your toes we would like you to comment and ad a detail about what scares you about this creepy dolls. oh yea!! dont forget to (SUBSCRIBE)!!!.
Just saw it Sunday night. So compelling--not many words are said, which confused me in the start of the movie, but as i kept watching it, you learn that words aren't even needed. The facial expressions, the body language, the scenery. It's all so vivid and pretty much is what makes this movie such a tear jerker. That and the concepts that revolve around the 3 stories. Kitano is a genius. Just wished that we had half the, orginality, smarts, and beauty in American films as they do in Japan.
This movie made no sense to me. I kept getting the impression that it was all in sawako's imagination, and that matsumoto isn't really there. But then I heard that it was just a story meant to serenade true love.
uno de mis directores favoritos, me encantan sus peliculas, tienen un mensaje muy claro, te mete en las tramas y los actores te hacen sentir cada historia....haaaaaa....
@Mizerablism That must have been a troll post. It talks about a "movie" with a "scene ripped from departed", which came out 9 years after Tambour. Go figure...
Takeshi Kitano's movies are different, unique which makes them better than others...But sadly,I think they aren't made for the masses. Not everyone can understand and value them for what they really are-a form of art...
i just can't understand why masses don't value this movie? Because they don't want to bother with art? Because they can't understand what pure love should be? this movie is damn insane. It's the best movie about love i have ever seen.
This film is sooooo beautiful. It is simply stunning film. I loved every part of it and brought tears to my eyes. I recommend all of you watch this film if you are looking for a true LOVE movie.
omg! i saw this forever ago! i didnt see the whole thing but i loved the parts i did see. the part with the girl and her fiance on the rope confused me. why were they tied together?
Her fiancee accidentally led to her receiving brain damage, and so she became mentally unstable. He decided to accept the blame for this and become her carer - the cord is an unnaturally long Japanese 'obi' (the regular one is used to bind a kimono, the longer one was used traditionally to bind lovers on the day of their marriage).
He ties this between them, thus spritually linking the two. She is unable to express her feelings, yet for some inexplicable reason she wants to keep walking.
Takeshi Kitano defined this movie as its most violent one... and I agree. Superb performance of the beautiful and angelic Miho Kanno, superb the natural landscape with cherry trees, the red maples and the wrapping music of Jo Hisaishi.
this movie is one of my favourites of all time! it's almost indescribable, hard to put in words what i felt when i first saw it...and i still watch it whenever i can.

Why Kitano should be Kami? Can not understand the point.

He probably meant to say that Kitano is God as God translates to Kami, though when referring to God himself, you're supposed to say Kami-sama
