As for the are people who ride motorcycles bikers? who cares if your a son of anarchy or a Valentino Rossi? at the extremes of your behaviour you give the rest of us who enjoy riding motorcycles (because they are really fun!) a bad name and encourage the government safety Nazis to make it harder and harder for normal folks to get onto 2 wheels!

I used to be able to ride all winter but with climate change here in Illinois we now have snow all winter long - lots of it - making it impossible to ride. Has anyone else experienced this change the past few years?

@CaneFu climate change? I live in southern IL and the weather was worse in the 80s and 70s. Some people talk about snow up to the windows of their houses. This is mild. But I'm moving back to Cali for work and year round riding

I have lived in central IL my entire life and we have never had so much snow as in the past few years. There was that big snow in Jan. of '79 but there has never been the consistent and frequent snows that we have now which keeps the ground covered from early December through mid March. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s I was able to ride most of the winter.

Freezing? Man...You haven`t seen a winter yet. British winter is a piece of cake.I`ve been doing moto courier job for 2 and a half year in London. Winter?Yes....altogether that would be about 4-5 days of winter i`ve seen. Was snowing and freezing. Other than that it was sooo easy. Every-day rain was a bit disturbing at the beginning but it does not affect the pleasure of riding. Now I`m back home in my country, there was -18 degrees C when I came back. And what I`ve done? I went for a ride.

I parked my bike for the winter last year - and then sold it. When I got back on the road in April my first ride of the season was a 928 mile ride. Sometimes our skills get rusty, but then again, sometimes they manage to stay with us.

If you do park your bike for the winter, make sure to refresh yourself with riding tips and pointers before you ride. MSF has a few good quizzes with which we can remind ourselves and keep our skills a little sharper.
