Too too many Muslims take comfort in the odd notion that learning is not needed: "If it is contrary to the Qu'ran it is blasphemy, if it is in agreement with the Qu'ran it is superfluous." Rather the Qu'ran is a very short book with great flexibility. Learning is needed to know what to do and when to do it, and when to do what is not provided by the study of the Qu'ran
