I own both a 2010 EU GTR and the 997 MK II Turbo.... Both are georgeous and VERY fast...You can't comapre them as in the comments You guys post... because they are very different style. GTR is the car which always make you race, corners very fast, and you feel it accelerates like cannon ball. The Turbo is much more a luxury car.
dont forget now..Motortrend and InsideLine Edmunds test the "1st GTR" that came to the US back in 2008 and with all the performance? should of cost well over 400K..., but im glad Nissan is keeping its price UNDER 100K! LOOL...

They may have similar specs but People who buy either one is certainly not going to consider buying the other one. On stats, the GTR is definitely the faster car and proven by many car reviews too. @kay19833 porsche have taken the GT-R on the Nurburgring and lapped it. I am not too sure why they did that but at the very least they are watching the GT-R. Nissan has had their share of success with the Skyline R32 GT-R. I just think both brands are in competition. Porsche blows away every single car except the GT-R.

@suprattkk You can't compare a Porsche with a Corvette. 911 is made for reliability on the track and extreme performance while the Corvette is made to have power and go fast. A ZR1 will burn out after 10 laps around the Nurburgring while the 911 can later be driven home in time for supper. It is engineered to the point where they use magnets to control the downforce. ZR1 uses a supercharger for more power which is MUCH less efficient then a turbo. You have to love both for what they stand for.
Admittedly this video is about drag times but if one judges this car by such statistics i feel it is to miss the point. The fact of the matter is the Porsche in no uncertain terms is the better car, you simply cannot out-design something that has taken over 30 Years to develop, by the Germans i might add.
However, the GTR is a Magnificent achievement and is more like the future of car making, rather than Porsche's design philosophy which stems from, in the 911's case, a unique engineering feat.
what a nice car, the SMALL 500hp version was testet in carsinaction with 10,8s @ 1/4 mile and 3,1s @ 0-100km/h (in mph its faster)

The Turbo and the S use 235/35 ZR19on 8,5J×19" in front and on the rear-axle 305/30 ZR19 on 11J×19" at moment the most Porsche use Michelin tyres, with real slicks you must change the wheel from 19" to a smaller wheel. I don't see a real slick in this size at moment.
Haha no shit. A true slick with proper sidewall flex would require a 15 inch wheel. Which obviously would not clear the stock brakes, and sways would most likely have to be relocated. Not saying its a bad car, its pretty quick for a stock car, but obviously this car with its huge brakes and multilink suspension was not engineered for drag racing.

Also that 10s mark is a joke because in that respect the z06 does it in 10.6 for HALF the price. You can google it so the 10s mark is actually just on par with all the other cars out there. Overpriced german car, that has looked the same since the 80s....

@suprattkk You can't compare a Porsche with a Corvette. 911 is made for reliability on the track and extreme performance while the Corvette is made to have power and go fast. A ZR1 will burn out after 10 laps around the Nurburgring while the 911 can later be driven home in time for supper. It is engineered to the point where they use magnets to control the downforce. ZR1 uses a supercharger for more power which is MUCH less efficient then a turbo. You have to love both for what they stand for.

Admittedly this video is about drag times but if one judges this car by such statistics i feel it is to miss the point. The fact of the matter is the Porsche in no uncertain terms is the better car, you simply cannot out-design something that has taken over 30 Years to develop, by the Germans i might add.
However, the GTR is a Magnificent achievement and is more like the future of car making, rather than Porsche's design philosophy which stems from, in the 911's case, a unique engineering feat.

what a nice car, the SMALL 500hp version was testet in carsinaction with 10,8s @ 1/4 mile and 3,1s @ 0-100km/h (in mph its faster)
The Turbo S is the biggest bang for real driver!!!!
2,9s @ 0-60mph, 1/4 mile @ flat 10s (high 9s with Semisliks) and that with only 28,4mpg (Highway). Thats awesome for a bonestock sportcar with ONLY 530hp!!!

100lbs is said to be a tenth in the quarter. I just saw it run an 11.2, Unless the passenger is made out of iron, the trunk is full of sand bags, and the car has a 100 gallon fuel tank, its not going make 9 second passes.

@maxinator39 visit "carsinaction", there was tested the 500hp version with 10.8 @ 1/4 mile, thats the small Turbo version. the S have more torque and more power. The new Turbo is lighter than a ZR1 bud!!
11.2 is a very bad time, if i remember correctly its the time what porsche claims.
so its tested, 500hp Turbo = 10.8s (streettyres) and Turbo S = 10.2s (Streettyres) official tests, with SLICKS it break the 10s

yeah, i doesn't say it generate a flat 9s, i think a high 9s is possible (maybe a ~9.8 or something)
The Turbo and the S use 235/35 ZR19on 8,5J×19" in front and on the rear-axle 305/30 ZR19 on 11J×19" at moment the most Porsche use Michelin tyres, with real slicks you must change the wheel from 19" to a smaller wheel. I don't see a real slick in this size at moment.

Haha no shit. A true slick with proper sidewall flex would require a 15 inch wheel. Which obviously would not clear the stock brakes, and sways would most likely have to be relocated. Not saying its a bad car, its pretty quick for a stock car, but obviously this car with its huge brakes and multilink suspension was not engineered for drag racing.

A Porsche is engeneered for all situations, street and race, thats a long history by Porsche.
I would take a Porsche any day, its the whole Package, a luxerious car, a serious sportscar for races, a cruiser and all in one car :)
Look at the quality, the materials, haptic and so on, the price is very fair i think. And you safe money if you need to sale it ;)
