  • 4:58 my absolute favorite part of this episode...lol!!!! :)

  • Dont tell Hyacinth, but at around 3:36 you can see the poor join in her wallpaper behind her above and below the painting xD

  • one of my favorite conversations is when hyacinth is going to look at properties and richard is worried she'll buy something enormous and expensive.

Hyacinth: what have i ever presented you with that we can't afford.

Richard: well Sheridan for a start. lol i always laugh at that part.

  • "OH HYACINTH!"

  • Onslow or Twiggy?

  • Daisey sucks her thumb....lol

  • Sheridan must be gay...I wonder what she'll say when he comes out of the closet.

  • she HAS a reputation. is she aware of it tho?

  • I wonder wha would of happened if Hyacinth had met Victor Meldrew!

  • @pat4891 That is a really interesting thought. Two strong personalities.

  • @pat4891 That would be interesting to see hyacinth meeting victor meldrew

  • Do we ever see her son on the show?

  • does anyone notice that it looks like daisy is sucking her thumb while she is reading her book? ive watched this thing 100 times and i just noticed that!!

  • "Oh, you and Tarquin arent interested in girls?? What a comfort that is to a mother's heart dear"

  • Wery Funny :DD

  • is "singing at" the same as saying "singing to" in america?

  • @luno44 yes

  • @Mst3kfanatic1 That's too bad. I liked the idea of how "singing at" sounds when said here, but being used when Mrs. Bucket is around over there.

  • @luno44 actually, I don't think this is a case of british vs american english. "singing at" is different from "singing to" someone. "singing at" would imply that the singing doesn't carry any direct message, meaning or sentiment to the listener - it's just a load of noise that the "singer" is making at the listener. Whereas "singing to" someone means the song is meant for them and has some direct meaning or message, like a mother singing a lullaby to a child.

  • @grandcharm - I've heard the phrase "talking at" someone....and it means...yeah like someone is talking and they are totally oblivious as to your response. Or whether you have any interest whatsoever in what they're saying. They just like the sound of their own voice. And I took "singing at" to mean something very like that.

  • what's emmit and elizabeth's relation??

  • @BrittneyChristina Brother and sister. Emmit got divorced and now live with her sister while her husband is in asia working. :D

  • @NorwegicusOnAstick

    Asia? I thought Arabia.

  • @BrittneyChristina both tits lol

  • Daisy still sucks her thumb.

  • love it , I used to be able to watch sscv in Germany, now its not possible for me, so Iam glad I´ve discovered this Goldmine

  • so much fun watcing the sitcom!! I live in Germany and used to be able to watch the sitcom via ssvc, not possible anymore, but Iam glad i discovered this goldmine, thanks again Norwegicus

keep on uploading , its addicting

  • " Oh Hyacinth "

    " Oh dear "

    " Oh damn "

  • I can't them to all play in queue anymore

  • LOL @ Richard's 2nd reaction to the table - "Uh- HO!!!" (falls into door) hahaha!!

  • In this episode, Hyacinth has invited Emmet and his sister to one of her candlelight supper. Emmet's reaction is funny because he is scared '' she sang at me'' so he is scared of Hyacinth.

  • Geez, people, it's a sitcom, not a documentary. Hyacinth's ignorance (whether willful or not) about her son is what makes the whole situation so funny.

  • @jeffeastwood15 I agree! It's just humor and the best humor I have ever seen.

  • best part :)

  • Sheridan is definetly gay but Hyacinth doesn't want to notice that, you know how traditonial and untolerant she is...

  • "You're not spending it on girls, you promised mommy". So clueless that he is gay

  • The table looks REALY good!!!!

  • @izzi1000 yea actually hyacinth does a lovely table.if she annoys u fine but her table is nice. a bit too nice

  • lol haha this HILARIOUS!!!

  • My grandma used to wear those typees of dresses all the time when she was going to church:) She had Paticia Routledge's figure too:)

  • About Sheridan,...is Hyacinth really THAT dense or is the way she is with her father, intentionally and viciously obtuse?

  • @Blackthorne369 Sorry is IT the way she is with her father? Oh dear, now she's got me correcting my English!

  • I've watched this episode so many times... and this time was the first I noticed... after Onslow makes that comment about women getting older faster.... Daisy starts sucking her thumb! And while Rose is talking to Boris, Daisy keeps sucking her thumb and reading her book...

  • haha richard is the cutest! what a good husband, if not a little bit of a push over. its so funny how he always tries to appease her, like even though she's a total pain in the ass he puts up with it cause deep down he loves her.

  • lol she was smoking the ciggie that wasnt even lit

  • @ caribbean4u :

I believe the obvious fact that she is upper middle class and not the highest realm of financial status is reflected in her wardrobe. The whole show is based on her false pretenses of being and aspiring to be something more or different than what she is. Her attire is a direct statement of that, and (I feel) quite obvious.

  • For someone of her "social standing"...her wardrobe is not very extensive at all...

  • Aha! "You and Tarquin aren't interested in girls"! Verification. As if we needed it. :)

  • yea i know its funny how his gay richard knows but hyacinth doesnt get it

  • yeah, she is.

  • Is Daisy sucking her thumb at 6:13 ?

  • Haha! That's what I thought. How odd?!??

  • yes she is he made her feel bad

  • I don't care for language like that, when I'm wearing my best earrings. Looks like Rose and Hyacinth may not be that different after all.

  • daisy and onslow need to have kim and aggie round!! mind you onslow prob still wouldn't pull his ample weight...

  • i love richard's "2nd reaction" to hyacinth's table setting...

    "ohhhh ho!!!!!" hahahaha.!!

    xD

  • learn how to spell SON

  • She has got a rather 'common' telefone :p

  • "I've never known him taking a liberty without removing his hat."

    LOL

  • I love Daisy. She combines optimism with wistfulness so winsomely!

And... Tarquin! What a fantastic name. Maybe romance blossomed between him and Sheridan as they commiserated over the eccentricities of their parents.

  • "weren't too many flavours in those days"

  • Hyacinth that's a great looking table well done :)

  • Hyacinth: "What is it now Violet?.....No, I *haven't* a girdle that might fit Bruce."

PAUSE, Hyacinth runs to close the kitchen door---Elizabeth drops cookie in her cup---"Now look, I resent the idea that I'm the only one you who has a girdle. I will not pass my discontinued girdles onto Bruce......Well if he's suddenly ashamed of his tummy, why doesn't he lose weight?..... Oh why do you pamper him, Violet? I mean apart from the money and the Mercedes?"

  • I love Oslow!!...hes the perfect blend of Archie Bunker and Al Bundy..Sorry if that comment to some tastlessly calls me out on being American..Richard is my favorite character though, him or Liz...or maybe it is Onslow, the whole cast. Thats what makes a good comedy, character development. Good characters is the key to longevity and success it seems.

  • Alot of Homer and a dash of Peter Griffith as well...Thats Onslows DNA..

    Al Bundy

    Homer Simpson

    Archie Bunker

    Peter Griffith...yeah....haha

  • Onslow: Yo. lol

  • lol poor richard

  • "I resent the idea that i'm the only one you know who has a girdle"...her delivery of lines is flawless and deeply wunderbar

  • i love Elizabeth.

  • I really like Rose's hair when she enters with the vacuum.

  • Ohhhh haha revelation, Sheridan and Tarquin arent interested on girls lol

  • "Onslow?"

    "Yo?"

    LOL

  • Rose: "and I dont care for language like that when I'm wearin me best earrings" - sounds like something Hyacinth would say ;)

  • very true

  • She is a bit catchy. I find myself pulling a Hyacinth moment now and again after watching these.

  • "you'd think people don't want to come to my candlelight suppers" bingo Hyacinth

  • I'd come!!! :D

  • effeminacy is no guarantee of lightloaferage...the latter is only proven by the frequency of the shout 'HEL-LO SAILOR!!!'

  • This episode proves that her son is homosexual.

  • I thought they proved it in season 1 when he got that gay roommate and they were knitting curtains. :)

  • And the roommate in question had apparently won prizes for embroidery. =3
