having Travolta's character in that film telling Denzel's character to shoot him because he did him a favor was quite a different approach to a villain for me. Loosely: "Don't let the cops get me. Do me the favor of shooting me. You'll be the hero and that's what I want." Pretty cool in my eyes.

Not a bad thing can be said about him, but the press feels they are OWED personal details. Motivated by a haughty sense of greedy entitlement and killer prey drive for a scoop, they spin what cannot be obtained. I agree that Keanu has limited range, but you should see "River's Edge", a great early Keanu film. He plays a burnout metalhead and it's a great role for him.

I don't think Travolta is devoid of talent, but he's clearly chosen a career based on personality rather than versatility.
