I wish Andover still used the old station they have. It's used as an ice cream shop and is in good condition. There are also other stations along the Reading line that could be used. They belong to other businesess though.
Yes it is privately owned. The problem with the new station is like many commuter rail stations there is no station. Just a platform and a shelter. A real station is not really needed but it would still be nice. Also I don't know if you've heard but they are putting a second track in between Reading and Lawrence in the places where there is no double track. Thats gonna be cool. More trains!
From what I'm hearing, how could they put in 2nd track when they are broke and threating to cut service, meaning less trains. Besides if they do that, the what will happen to the Wildcat Branch Line in Wilmington?
Ha Ha I don't know. Thats a good point! They put off buying new locos either MP36s or VE4500Ps based on the Euro 4000. As for the Wildcat Branchline it wouldn't be a problem because it would go on the other side. It used to be double tracked a long time ago. You can still see the old stripe at Ballardvale.
Just if you are still wondering about the 2nd track I was talking to an MBCR engineer today and he said they were going to put in the 2nd track. I guess they must have some money. He also said they were not going to cut weekend service. He said there were just to many people riding it on weekends to do that.
omg it's my friends town!

Not sure, but isn't the old Andover station now privately owned? Besides, the new station is only across the railroad crossing.

If they do put the second track in, I hope they will still run a couple of trains down the Wildcat Branch.

I bet they will. Even if they don't you could still ride the Downeaster down it.
