  • Can you put up the instrumental to download? I know there's already some instrumentals of it out there, but not great quality. Can you for me? :)

  • Friggity fresh

  • Is there a computer involved anywhere in your chain?

  • STR8 DOPE REMAKE F*CK THE 3 HATERZ

  • "10 out of 10" on the remake of such a classic track and song!!!!!!

  • i like your work!

  • what kind of table do you have, a hip-hop-renowned one or just conventional?

  • yeaah big krit

    nice ;)

  • Really nice remake dude! :D Very well done!

    Peace

  • Dope remake! Are those drums standard MPC sounds? And do you know if the Souls of Mischief used a sample for 'em in their track? Peace :)

  • @JeszeySB Thank you. MPC-2000 was not yet released until 2000, so we know for sure that MPC-2000 was not used for the production. Unlike DAWs or NI Maschine, Akai MPCs didn't come with sound library, so there is no such thing as standard MPC sounds.

  • @jvcforce I thought the 2000 was released in 1994, and were made up until 1997... and maybe the 2000 xl (the one u used in ur video) came out around 2000?

  • @LDNURECS According to Wikipedia, MPC2000 Classic was released 1997, 2000XL was released in 2000. MPC3000 was released in 1994.

  • well done! You got skills, saw it on most of your videos! Suscribed!

  • i hear kid frost la raza in there!!

  • Hey could you do a tutorial on how to pan horn samples? on the 2kxl?

  • I honestly think your Jesus Christ that returned to save the world

  • What materials are you using to make this beat!?

  • @MrAllsmilesallday MPC-2000XL and vinyl records, and some drum machine samples.

  • @jvcforce You're talented man! You're vid's are awesome.

  • You have insane talent for those remakes, it sounds just like the real deal! Keep it up!

  • @jibber951 Thank you for your complement, but I don't think I have insane talent, but maybe I do have insane patience to find the original sample source!

  • @jvcforce

Aight, let's say you have insanely good ears then! :-)

I think it takes a lot of skill to re-create beats that accurate (and patience to find all the original samples, i can only immagine!).

  • @jvcforce you should use whosampled[dot]com

  • @slop123456789 I do use it, but rarely. I know most of the obvious samples, and many cases, those lists are incomplete, or/and contains wrong data. (for instance, "The Jam" was not listed in the sample list, at least when I looked.) Sample lists on the internet often contain wrong samples sources, I can tell you that.

  • @jvcforce also, ive always wondered what that wailing noise is sampled from coming in at 1.48?? would be great to know :)

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

omfg fuckin' dope as fuck bro!

  • nice

  • Nice job man. How do get that echo effect on the sax stab? I have an effects board on my mp but i cant figure out to get it to echo and fade out like you did?

  • @pOBrain It's not echo, no effect used at all, I just sample triggered like that, I just changed velocity so that it sounds like echo.

  • @jvcforce I meant I triggered (sequenced) the sample like that.

  • This is the one song that takes me back to the early 90's every time I hear it, even if I'm in a bad mood

  • Was that single saxophone stab sampled from the Billy Cobham record too?

  • @brianMcc25 Yes, from the same song.

  • this right here is like sex to my ears. well done man, much props.

  • Comment removed

  • did you just happen to put your technics on 45rpm and keep the pitch control on 0? I'm currently trying to remake this song as well to familiarize myself better with my 2000xl.

  • @keepyourlovesafe I did sample "Heather" on 45 RPM, pitch set to 0. I did pitch up on MPC side as well. I also EQed it before sampling, I used the Portastudio for that. What you see on the video clip is all I use for making beat basically. The sound is taken straight from the MPC-2000XL.

  • @jvcforce When you said you EQed it, do you mean you cut out the other frequencies when you sampled to get the low pass, or did you sample it regularly and and just change the frequency in the mpc for the lowpass effect? I doubt you would want to do this but if you could upload a .zip or .rar with all the chopped samples, programs and sequences that would be awesome since I would love to dissect and break down everything you did to better understand and learn. Thanks for the reply!

  • real nice bro

  • nice 4 track tape recorder. classy

  • @MegaDan1310 I started it with two copies of breakbeat records. I finally got the MPC now. I could not afford it in the 90s'. You can start making beats with Fruity Loop even, nothing wrong with that (even cheaper, since it can be used on a PC that you own.) I've never used it, but I've seen impressive stuff with FL. Use anything that available to you!

  • @HydefUK I don't really understand what you mean by "I've got this beat." Best wishes.

  • not bad

  • amazing, congrats for a remake thats so on point.

  • Just revisiting! This is so sick, I love it! One of the illest beats done in hip hop! I have to give you kudos again for recreating this! Nice work!

  • @Sinosure Thank you for your kind comment. I lost the data files shortly after shooting the video. Well, I re-done the same beat after that again! I'll post it with better video & audio quality when I have time.

  • @armandoarevalo1 Except a pair of SL-1200 and MPC-2000XL, I don't own fancy gear (can't afford it.) I own the 1200s for about 20 years. The portasound (got it from my brother) and the cheesy speakers (they are not active speakers, it is old AIWA mini component stereo) are worth close to nothing in used market today. The MPC was so worn out when I got it from ebay seller, I repaired it by myself. I'm on low budget!

  • that is sick dude

  • this is a masterpiece

  • incredible skills my dude incredible...

  • You got skills man, i just listened to the original and you recreated it perfectly! Peace

  • i love tis beat do you have it finished wud love to use for a non profit mixtape

  • nicley done mang !

  • From "93" UNTIL !!!! .......er.$

  • This is so fucking smooth.

  • Peace to you Brav

  • Dope homie. By the way I still have that same 4 track lol. It's out of commission though. I still want to get another one for sentimental reasons. But yeah you got some heat bruh.

  • @ves120 Thank you. I use the Portastudio as mixer only. The recorder (takes hard-to-find chrome tape only!) still works fine though. The mixer part is not very nice, it would make annoying clipping sound if input is too loud. Recorded sound is actually pretty decent with DBX on.

  • I'm loving you're work man...amazing

  • i would like to use this in the beginning of a song on my mixtape if its kewl with u ?

  • @iCoolNinja That's fine.

  • hey bro u cold wit it!!!!!!

  • nice

  • Throwed stuff, keep it up maan

  • dope

  • I really enjoyed this i always wanted to do it but after hearing yours I can just click and vibe out Very Dope Very Dope indeed i would like to hear some OG beats do you have any?

  • @warpnine9 Yes, I have posted some OG beats on YouTube, please check out my uploads.

  • great remake bro!

  • Dope remake! Classic song! :)

  • Best remake yet!

  • OMG ONE OF MY FAVEEEE HIP HOP SONGS!!! Had so much 90's flavor it could explode! Good work man

  • funky fresh

  • awesome man

  • Much respect on the beat remakes. You should put together a tape full of your favorite remakes.

  • @ruslanio Thank you. but, you know, I lost the data!

  • very good remake of a classic track. you put some time into this one. with the 2000XL you can create folders and name them. save all your programs, sounds & sequences in the folder and you don't have to bother naming each sound. way easier. that way you just have a bunch of folders with names of beats and you can load everything from there.

  • i like this version ! good job bro!

  • beautiful.. brings me back to my golden days... take care and cheers.. and thanks for taking the time to do this

  • Nice beat, man.

  • uhh just wonderful!

  • @irememberwhat "Heather" was listed on the liner notes on the 12" single. The drum break (The Jam) is one of the most famous & sampled drum breaks of all time. I love finding out samples, Something that I've been doing since late 80s'.

  • nice........

  • Yup...I've got to agree with the others, you nailed it exactly. Great job JVC!

  • @Realizeskateboarding My MPC does not have optional effect board installed (I heard that it is not that great anyway), but MPC-2000 has low pass filter and resonance. I used the Portastudio's EQ (has only high and low EQs) when sampled Heather. MPC cannot be used as a effects unit, effect can only be applied to the samples. Electribe can be used as effects unit.

  • Nice!

  • *Heather

  • Nice!!!

  • I like how you got the og samples vinyl, the beat, the drum break n sample,, kool kool

    props

  • Man you absolutely killed this!! Great work!! I love your dedication to the REAL hip hop, taking the time to dissect these CLASSICS!!! I don't think people realize what goes into sampling sometimes. It can be very creative even if you ARE taking a "snippet" if you will from someone's original to make your own song. I ALWAYS enjoy your vids JVC! You pretty much nailed that track to the wall, lol!! This was always a "sleeper track" IMHO!! It put SOM on the map!! It's one of my favs no doubt!!

  • sounds about right

  • dope!! props

  • whats crazy is you got the exact drums

  • OMGoodness, You have a four track recorder. Is it a fostex?

  • @CivilIllEnt No, it is Tascam Portastudio 424. I just use it as a mixer.

  • This use to be my song when I was a kid. It made me just want to go away or move to California!
