  • if you want a workout on a snowboard, ride moguls!

  • smooth riding....good job man

  • Thats awesome...been attacking the moguls, but they frequently get the best of me..Just out of curiosity, what are your binding angles? I ride @ +21, +12, and am ok with moguls, but nothing like that...Not that it matters, I probably just need to practice more!

  • @m1k35ka - Snowboarding is like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, there is no wrong way to eat it ;) I love everything about it, including moguls. I set my bindings to +15 front and +5 back foot. One of the reasons I like this is if I end up with back foot downhill (goofy), +5 will work fine whereas +15 or higher will feel a bit weird. Try it and see if it works for you. The way you set it might be easier on the knees. All the best...

  • It looks like he is just tail-dragging most of the way... Like he is lifting his back foot and pivoting the front, he's not really initiating his turns or carving at all

  • Nice, I was never really the mogul person until the last run of the day for me today. I'm more of a person who tries to ride in the fresh powder and stay away from moguls but I decided to try out this trail that had moguls and it turned out to be really fun.

  • @DavidVillaFan2010

That's great! Gotta try new things for sure. I love everything about snowboarding. Flying down super fast on a steep, groomed trail, ramps... but most of all, steep mogul runs full of fresh powder, especially if deep in the woods. Trees are coming at you real fast and every decision to turn is a split second. (just make sure someone is with you or knows where you are) I've had some mild accidents while by myself in the middle of the woods. Made me think twice...

  • @damunchiman Yeah I haven't really tried the woods for snowboarding but when I skied I used to always be in the woods. The mountain that I go to and have seasons pass too has at least 4 or so mogul trails which is good.

  • is that highline??? and i luv vail i am even here now lol

  • hey, just to share my impression, your handwork isn't correct, your balancing with your hands, which means you're not stable enough on your feet. You are initiating a movement with only the lower part of your body, and you can see on the video that the upper part of the body follows this movement with some delay. If you were going faster, you would've been down after a few turns, as the upper part of your body is disbalanced...Anyway, the fact you're trying to do some moguls is nice, cheers :)

  • Sooo slow

  • I love watching boarders bomb moguls, mainly because its rare. I have trouble talking my friends into the moguls but whenever I do and they let me work with them a bit they improve drastically everywhere else on the mountain.

May I suggest you record a lesson and maybe some slow motion demos? I'm always trying to improve my moguls and my methods of teaching them to others and would love to hear/see what you recommend for making it down them w/ style.

  • @raneman54 - Thanks! I am sure there's lots of stuff on youtube with directions on snowboarding moguls. I personally love them when they're steep and full of powder. What I do is constantly shift my wight (from front leg to rear one) while pivoting. As I begin my pivot from one mogul to the next one, I shift my wight to the front leg (about 60-70%) and that allows me to swing the rear of the board really fast, as I land on the next mogul, and, as I land on the mogul, my wight is centered.

  • @damunchiman I do the same thing. I discovered that shifting my weight to my lead foot helps. And I also use my arms to balance and control the board position like you. But I never realized it until I saw this vid on freestyle and they taught a bit of snowboard physics. Then I realized, that's what I was doing and that's why it worked! woot! It's still a workout though and I usually save them for before I leave. :p

  • @raneman54 The other aspect that you see in the video is that he uses "counter-rotation". This enables the board to swing faster than a normal turn. Watch closely as his arms and upper body rotate in the OPPOSITE direction of the board.

Newton's 3rd Law of motion => Every action has an equal an opposite reaction. It applies to rotary motion in addition to linear motion.

You can practice this on a normal slope to get a feel for it and then take it to the moguls when you're tuned in.

  • @rasmasyean exactly, but this isn't a correct snowboarding technique.Movement isn't smooth and is ok only when going slow, otherwise the lack of balance is too important and falling guaranteed

  • @gigsa1 Which part of moguls is supposed 2 b smooth? And smooth also implies slow. U can take your "proper beginner techniques" u were taught and use it in ur wide unpopulated open groomers...or just throw it out the window. Snowprofessor or whatever u r looking at doesn't talk about advance snowboarding. When you go 2 tricks and complex manuevers especially, counter-rotated body positions become a normal part of everyday riding. So does changing ur moment of inertia by total body poses

  • @rasmasyean hey hey, ok, first, you are way too much aggressive, the point is to have a discussion.so don't make stupid guesses such as "beginner technique"s or whatever, you won't look any more professional to anyone."When you go 2 tricks", ok man, I hope u're aware of the fact that riding technique and trick technique are two worlds apart " complex manuevers" WTF is that ? Come on, you're showing anyone you don't have even basic practical snowboard knowledge. Cheers!

  • @gigsa1 And no point in insulting or being rude, I won't reply anymore anyway...

  • @raneman54 He also swings his arms in the oposite rotation of his board to speed up the pivot. Spam the space bar and you will see. It seems all good mogul riders on youtube do this almost the same. If you want to see a really smooth version of this action, check vid: w0YLznwsBQI ...A more "abrupt" version is in this vid: snZ2sGuUuEQ.

  • @raneman54 Also, if you want to see what effect you arms have on pivot, sit in a swiveling office chair, lift up your legs and stick your arms out and swing them. If you pretend you have a board on, this is extra torque that twists your legs will be transfered to your board, both toeside (open up chest to forward) and heelside (close up back to forward).

  • Right on man! I hope to get as good as you on Moguls this season!

  • Very nice! I'm a pretty decent rider on groomed stuff no matter how steep but moguls kick my ass. I've got to practice more on them next season.

  • very nice, thanks for posting it helps to see someone that can ride moguls like that.

  • i wish i could do that :O

  • 1nswbrdr1 - dude, you rock! Thanks for sharing that video. I take it it's all you riding. Amazing stuff !!! Really... Wish I had someone like you to ride with. All my mountain buddies are skiiers :(

  • I bet all you jerk offs saying you can do better are full of shit. I bet this guy was a skier before boarding and has more control than any of you pussy straight line downhillers riding out of control all the time fuckin it up and hurting innocent people constantly blaming it on them that they can't ride learn to ride with control and stop on a dime without being ion you asses all the time .

  • You're right on the money "lusoch". I was a skier since 12 yrs. old and switched to snowboarding later on. Thanks for your comment. Some of these dumbass people used to get to me but I just stopped caring. It's kind of fun now, actually. I am going back to Vail, Colorado in a few months so I am very excited. Take Care and Have Fun!

  • I'm 43 I took up snowboarding 11 years ago I was an expert skier and would consider myself a very technical border. I can ride down moguls but when I invite other boarders down the moguls every single one of them chickens out! They make up excuses that its no fun. They just cant ride under control. Headed to Jackson Hole tomorrow . Deep and Steep! Take CAre

  • super weak

  • nice

  • yo bucketheadhead, i beg to differ. Shitty snowboarders fuck up moguls and shitty skiers fuck up moguls. but if you're good then you dont. Kinda simple

  • Snowboarders fuck up moguls

  • Skiiers fuck up slopes.

    You make the moguls.

  • i would smoke you in the moguls on my snowboard, while drinking a hot coco

  • sure sure Vin Diesel

  • hahaha i luv it! someone with balls! most boarders chicken out on the Moguls! don't spill the coco!

  • why is it gettin low ratings?

Out of the 5 mogul snowboard vid's ive seen (one of them has a guy actually teaching... and he absolutely sucks at moguls LOL), this is one that you actually seem to have a rhythm goin for ya.

Gj. Could always be better, but it's good enough ;)

    5 stars

  • Yeah, this guy is better than me at moguls for sure. I am at least out there working on improving my riding and trying to help people out who are not yet at this level of riding unlike you sitting in mom`s basement playing WOW and being an internet poser. If you are so good, why not man up and make your own video and show us all how it is done.

  • Gotta love these internet warriors who can`t give constructive criticism. Those of us out here riding and having fun, improving our skills and sharing with others get to read childish insults from these internet warriors who probably can`t even ride themselves.

L33tzSaib0t.....man up since you are so good and show us all what you got. Make a video showing us how to ride moguls since I "suck" so bad. At least I am not sideslipping my way through them and am hitting them and improving.

  • You're the one talkin shit about me lol

I stated that this vid was one of the better ones about snowboarding moguls. please learn to read. you've become snowblind from starin into the snow too much without goggles/shades.

i never said you "sucked." are you so insecure that you have to assume other strangers think you suck?..

P.S You do suck. i just saw ur vid about arizona snowbowl. Ur not even carving. Your flailing your arms like a crazyman scared of the speed on a BLUE slope LOL

  • Still have`nt seen you ride fuckwad

  • Hahaha..just checked your channel out. A 51 year old old fart in Afghanistan who has nothing but video game videoes....what a total poser; I am thinking you don`t even ride.........Loser!

  • this guys good, I'll give it to him. but he's still not that great. he's letting the moguls push him through his turns and his arms are flailing. not to mention guys that these moguls aren't that big. He's also riding the top of every other mogul. If he could get a rhythm down and board between the moguls without taking that bouncing pause he'd be a lot better.

  • No argument there - I am not a pro. and don't claim to be one. You comment makes me think you're a skiier. Also, steepness is hard to tell at this angle. It was 25-30 degrees (see angle @ end of video) That's steep for high mogul run. Anyway, who cares. Have Fun! Relax!

  • actually I'm a snowboarder from Park City Utah. haven't touched a pair of skis in my life.

  • @atomicshift You a boarder or skier? Boarders flail their arms in the moguls to pivot their body around, we don't have sticks to hang onto and stab into the tops of moguls. I board over the tops of moguls to check my speed because you can't get your board sideways to cut and slow down when its between moguls very easily.

  • haha that is not how u do moguls

  • Well... the haters can talk what they want 2..

but i think you rock!!! =)

haha i wish i could do as good as you..

in february i'm going to Austria and i will snowboard for the first time!!! =)

    Love all your vids..!!

  • yea dude...dont listen to all those haters out there that think they know how to ride...you tore those moguls up dude..keep it up!....it aint easy riding moguls on a snowboard...i tried moguls last year and they chewed me up...im lookin for some payback this year.

  • Thank you friend. In truth, I took that morons comment too close to heart. That was a mistake. Have some amazing riding my friend. I can't wait myself til my April's trip to Vail, Colorado. I moved to Miami 4 years ago and haven't done much riding since.

  • thanks dude...i wanna go to colorado so bad...maybe next year..im gonna have to save up for it......yea man have a good time in colorado...good riding!

  • very clean, moguls are a bitch on a board.

  • Aaron, how about you go try boarding a mogul field before talking ish... The only way to ride moguls fast on a board is to throw your weight and pivot, tard... go back to playing your Tony Hawk Pro Skater or whatever makes you think you know how to ride

  • nice? ha learn to turn idiot, as in dont pivot off your front foot and throw your upper body around

  • let me guess... you were born in USA! In most cases, it is the Americans that express themselves in such ways (from a far distance). If you called me an idiot to my face, your teeth would meet the back of your throat and you would be in agonizing pain. Do you even ride? Ever tried huge moguls at 30+ degree drop? I don't see any videos of you out there.

  • i just call noobs when i see them

  • the vid was right on moguls u should throw your arms to make the turns

    not on groomed thouw
