I feel so sorry for the teacher. I am so ashamed of any young lady that would treat her elders that way. I bet that child fights her own mother or grandmother, whoever is wasting their time trying to raise her.
@WarInBed No, you should just lighten up, I take my job quite serious enough! :-) Join the profession of teaching, then MAYBE just MAYBE I'll take your NON- constructive criticism into consideration...Good day!
@bbrianblair I've taught along a teacher in high school for credit, and I'll tell you, even though the subject was music, I wanted the essays to be written correctly. If you're going to do something, do it right.
I'd lighten up, but students are getting too much of that at home with lazy parents. Teachers, in hand, figure it's not their job to parent, and I'd agree to that. Doesn't mean we should allow teachers to say such things like 'I teach math, English isn't important".
@WarInBed First of all, I never said English wasn't important. You said "I hope you don't teach English." I simply said (in sarcasm) that I teach Math. I was being coy because you were being up-tight and it was not necessary. Teachers are not perfect, we also make mistakes. If you feel so strongly, go back to school, get your degree in education, and become the teacher your accusing me of not being. In the meantime, I'm going to keep making a difference in the lives of our youth! Good day!:-)
What has the school/child/parent relationship come to when students actually put their hands on and "all out fight" a teacher. I couldnt even talk back to a teacher, if I felt I was treated unfairly I was instructed by my parents to let them know and they would fight my battles. Until parents take back their power from kids, our society is doomed. Kids actually curse at and around their parents freely now. WTF!
I live in Biloxi, MS. As a teacher, we have a zero tolerance for students who threaten or bully anyone (students or teachers). If they do this, he/she will be expelled, arrested, and go to Youth Court with their parents, and explain their behavior. If a student assaults a teacher, the student will face felony charges. If the parents don't show up for court, a bench warrant will be issued. Then the student and parents have to set a school board meeting. The Youth Judge is like Judge Judy.
@phuong6936 Hey, I'm a teacher and I completely agree with your school system on that one!! It's a bad spot to be put in when you are forced to defend yourself from a student...There is no happy ending when things like that occur!
@bbrianblair The problem is not so much the teachers, but America, the school system. We oppressed certain minorities like African Americans and Native Americans for 200 years and simply expected that Affirmative Action would solve everything, but it's not that simple in a country that favors the rich and those who are culturally the strongest. Asians often do well because their families didn't suffer dislocation, or having their cultures destroyed. All of America needs to face this.
The sub should have requested not to return to that school after the first incident. Now she is probably banned from the school district and she has a criminal record.
Im a substitute teacher and we have the hardest jobs. The sub-teacher has every right to defend herself. Sometimes you have to beat the shit out these ghetto-trash rats. The family of that student failed you for not raising a civilized human being.
@Drrck11 I mean I can sort of understand why the teacher snapped if she was punched in the face. It's assault. You are technically allowed to defend yourself if someone hits you. The student claimed she was kicked first. That doesn't make sense since the student supposedly all of a sudden at a disjointed time punched the teacher. It seems the student is lying. It was four girls who were like a team who kept driving the woman crazy, so make that four families in one classroom! It's very sad.
@QUINTUSMAXIMUS Yes, you're right Quint', four families failed that substitute teacher and society in general. Sadly, they failed those four girls as well. These students should be grateful to the teachers who have made it their career to educate them so they can be productive citizens of society. It pisses me off to see this kind of shit happen to substitutes. We are there to teach not to fight kids. The animals in the African bush act more civilized than these girls do.
@QUINTUSMAXIMUS I'm a teacher and it's all just sad!! Respect for adults has declined so much in our society today! A teacher should never even be in the position to where they have to even think of fighting a student..Many kids don't respect teachers as adults and if your a substitute, the respect levels can be even lower!
@bbrianblair In America, people try to teach in certain districts, areas and hold on to those jobs, but teachers are often subject to disrespect, in some rare cases assault, accusations of racism when it's probably the parents or students who are more prejudiced than the teachers....However, universally, there is a lack of respect for teachers in America. What's wrong with the education is said to be fault of the teachers, not the system.
Unfortunately, in the Americas (North, Central and South) Teachers are Foreigners to students and Students are strangers to teachers. At the age of 5 on the first Day of my School my Mother advised me to give the Teachers respect as my School Mommies and Daddies (this was in British Guiana-Guyana). My second Family were Teachers and Students. Living in the U.S.Virgin Islands, the Students are no exception to School fights watch the video Part 5 School Fights ...A. Cancryn
it was all the fuckin' student's fault. Teachers don't just fight students for no reason, that bitch shouldn't have gotten out of line, she should be sent to juvy for the rest of her school days, and then sent to jail, or killed + tortured
@LevKozlodoev Your language is quite aggressive! But as a teacher, some of these high schoolers will make you want to refer to them exactly the same way that you are right now!! I agree with you, teachers don't just fight students for no reason! We have too much to loose if it happens! The girl should be thrown out of school!
@WarInBed ACTUALLY, I was being facetious (did I spell that right?) because you are trying to belittle me because I made a faux pas. I would be insulted by your comments, however, I know my value IN and OUT of the classroom, so it's cool...But in the meantime, LIGHTEN UP! :-)
@bbrianblair Whites and half-castes allways resort to pointing out black peoples spelling and grammatical errors. They do this when their argument's weak.
@MRBLACKPOWERFUL02 I have not had enough experience with that to say rather that is true or not, but I do know that I'm not negatively affected at all by the comments of warlinBed. Like I told him/her, I know my worth!
@MRBLACKPOWERFUL02 spelling and grammar appears to be a problem these days across the board w/ all races due to texting and shortcuts. HS and college students need to be mindful and careful when writing essays and interviewing for jobs. In the elementary years, parents need to read to their children daily and emphasize proper grammar, and discuss what was taught at school-this should be across the board with ALL races!
I worked in a suspension site. They send kids down there when all the other teachers/schools get sick of them.
I can't fault the teacher; the kids can be horrible (because of the parents' bad habits). The Principal is usually uncaring and doesn't want to know anything.
