Unemployment has gone up, families living in poverty has gone up, children living and poverty also has gone up. This isn't me saying these facts its the US census.

Preventative health care isn't going to save money unless you catch a very large % of diseases early.
Otherwise, it's just going to be a money hole. In other words, about 10% of the people screened for disease X will have to actually have it for money to be saved.
You know how much easier it would be for insurance companies to save if high cholesterol or blood pressure is caught early and the emphasis of lifestyle change. Not only would it save thousands of dollars in heart disease, surgery, heart attack, it would also save lives and money.
The point about preventative care is that unless you catch at least 10% of those people screened for a myriad of tests (which would be a high number) you aren't going to save any money with preventative care.
Ok next time you strep throat or have some type of series illness that requires a lab test then OK pay for it by yourself. Let the person barely hanging on financially pay for it. Don't be so selfish.

Because it helps seniors who don't have an income and have to rely on social security to make ends meet. What you want them to do fend for themselves if a senior doesn't have an income or a pension. There's a lot of things people hate like taxes but it pays for our police, roads, and lot of things you take for granted. Your rants about free trade don't fit the facts. Almost every recession we have sees trade slow way down.
Look at how trade came to a screeching halt after Smoot-Hawley in 1930.
Clinton's best years saw trade expand and in 2001 and 2008 (positive GDP growth for the year, but not very good) we saw our trade deficit narrow.
Your protectionism doesn't square up with the facts. But you sure know your talking points Red.

That basically got rid of a lot of deductions for the middle class and lowered the tax rate for the rich from 50% to 28%. It doesn't take an idiot to figure out the GOP has been bought out by big business for YEARS! Even in Iraq, Cheney's Haliburton got record profits from most of these no bid contracts and basically they all ran wild. Still if you look at this mess today, most of this was caused by GOP policies and events show it.

HUD needs to be abolished and the gov't should get out of the business of getting everyone into a house.

Defense spending as a % of GDP is lower now than it was under Reagan, Vietnam and WWII.
We spend far more on Medicare and Social Security than we do defense. Those programs are $43 trillion in the hole.
The top quintile's share of all income taxes collected has grown over the last 25 years. The bottom 50% pay very little.

There are several reasons health care costs are high.
1) The number of state mandates has skyrocketed, increasing premiums.
2) Out-of-pocket payments have plummeted and the gov't share of health care dollars is skyrocketing.
3) Community rating and/or guaranteed issue provisions.

Every other industrialized country has figured a way to get some type of health care to its citizens where they won't be screwed over and don't have worry about paying a $20,000 hospital bill. Were the ONLY country that can't figure it out. I guess you like to have millions of American uninsured and let them continue of denying care and let them have their record profits partly on the basis of denying care. This will pass and make insurance companies accountable.

1) About 12 million of those people aren't even Americans. They are people visiting with visas or here illegally.
2) Many of these people qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP and fail to enroll.
3) Many of them are in households that make over $75K/yr.
4) Some of these people voluntarily go w/out because they are young and healthy
5) This figure counts people who changed jobs and went w/out HC for 30 days.

Also don't forget that as Americans were getting fatter, diseases like diabetes and heart disease in rising while in other countries its not as bad.

Catching that colon cancer or that breasts cancer early covered by insurance and rewarding doctors who get there clients off high blood pressure of cholesterol medication.

Because it helps seniors who don't have an income and have to rely on social security to make ends meet. What you want them to do fend for themselves if a senior doesn't have an income or a pension. There's a lot of things people hate like taxes but it pays for our police, roads, and lot of things you take for granted. I know a Libertarian doesn't like government intervention or the federal reserve but without those things then our situation would be a whole lot worse.

The economy was riddled with deflation all throughout the Great Depression. The 70s were riddled with bouts of inflation.
The Federal Reserve is not accountable and can manipulate our monetary policy.
Federal taxes only (unless they're earmarking) pay for interstate roads.
State taxes are supposed to pay for police. Medicaid is a disaster. If the federal gov't shrunk we could help out seniors but it has its hands in so many pies.
