The Troy bilts built after 1990 are shyt as MTD bought out original TROY BILT out of NEW YORK...The junk they make now is outsourced and made by idiots in China who use the cheapest material so the crap will break apart in a year or 2 and you have to buy another one..STAY AWAY FROM TROY BILT..LET THEM DIE AND GO BANKRUPT FOREVER...THE CHINA JUNK
Yes, Troy Bilt is great for cultivating, but virtually worthless for tilling firm soil. Simply loves to run away with one. Now with counter rotating tines, than one would have a real tiller.
The troy bilt tillers made when MTD took over are all chit. They are junk. Me and my family have 2 original tillers by troy bilt actually made in Troy New York. One was bought in 1982 and this tiller is made to last forever. I mean this tiller can run circles around the new junk made today in China.
i have an old one its like an 80 or 82 model that thing is a beast its old n ugly but it could prolly whip all these new tillers out there in a heartbeat
It's seems like the kinds of product we produce in our factory every day.....it just cost USD400 in China..and the shipping freight to USA is just USD100....
The onlyproblem I ave with mine is the tires clog with wet dirt and it gets stuck. Would a set of narrow snowblower chains work? I have the smaller troybuilt self propelled with solid tires. Otherwise I would just let some air out.
@MageesterMixit And not built anywhere near as good as they were back then. This is a good video, but very mis-leading as for Troy history. The real Troy-Bilts died when the company was bankrupted and bought out by MTD.

I had a 6hp troybilt years ago, 1980 or so. Good machine but there outrageously overpriced now-a-days!
