I miss these types of performances by the String bands - maybe now, with the mummers having to practically pay to march, they will go back to the "old" way of mummering and play good music without all the fanfare of those large props. What a welcome change that would be! BTW - PA's performance her is absolutely awesome!

i miss parades like this...small props and all about the showmanship. my dad was part of the bottom line for pa and still has his costume.

I Love this Performance!! Polish American at it's best. 1986 was such a good year for competition with Fralinger, Ferko, Quaker City & Avalon putting on such great shows. They got the prize they deserved, #1 !!

can someone tell me where to find rules , and what is the purpose of the box on ground , I always thought the leader had to step in the box . any rules? guidelines?

pretty great and imaginative costumes. i bet it would have been fun to see in person. I want that big cute robot with the eyes.

hey rookie i actually didn't get to watch much of the string bands perform due to the fact that i was out with bryson comic club. i did watch the fancy birgades perform and lemme tell you i wanted to throw up after i seen it. especially seeing my dad come in 2nd place with clevemore in the 80s with war god of snow theme. personally i don't consider the fancies mummers anymore. more like an entertainment group.

billw, I agree with you. The mummers have changed and it isn't for the better. I used to get chills up and down my arms from presentations like this. Other han Fralinger this year was a let down
