I had the communicators, but not the console. We used to see how far we could go and stay in contact with each other. Those innocent, care-free fun days are long gone.
Man, if I had this as a kid, 1st thing we'd have done, build a mock spaceship out of whatever we could find. Even a table + blanket. Then the "Away team" would explore the planet surface & relay info to the com-officer, lol. At FAO Schwartz, early 80's, I once saw a giant (10x10ft), fiberglass, play set/fort that was literally a flying saucer! It had a pull down ramp for enter/exit. THIS toy would have went with it perfectly! I can find nothing online like the toy saucer/fort I mentioned.
@gocaitygo They dont even go outside anymore!!!! The kids i hung around with were outside all the time. But this was in the days before these idiotic arcade games became popular.
they worked about 15 feet you could hear your mate talk with no help at that range and the morse code button made the tv go weird when you pressed it. also the other comunicators where only sold in pairs so 2 mates where outside and you where in. still had a summers worth of fun from them lol.
Modern day toys have been regulated by the FCC to not interfere with cordless phones and other devices. We didn't have those back then. Just 1300 feet of power on our hip!
To make your parents buy more toys. I lot of stuff was sold separately then, unless you got a playset. I had a Phazer that projected different images of the Enterprise and other ships.
wow, i have the communicators, need to get the console !!! cool.

Question: if you actually need both toys to make 'em work properly and have some amount of fun, why are they sold separately? Talk about a letdown!
