His version is better to me, due to his voice, and the way he chooses to perform the song. His voice base is good, and he really knows how to inject emotion into the song. But the higher register (for his voice) probably has to do with that vibe.
Plus, all the girls in SNSD each has their own style, when it comes together, it doesn't feel as whole as when one same person sings it. It's harder to package nine different characters into one for one song, and expect it to sound as homogeneous.
