  • try raising the motor up on the transom, that is the best way to get speed, go small amounts at a time till you find the "sweet" spot that plans off decent without to much trouble.

  • wow that's awesome ! wish I could buy one for myself! that's supposed to equal 25 hp? wow.

  • That's great guys! Looks like it moves right along. The earth appreciates it.

  • That is sweet!

  • one small step for man, one giant leap for the purity of our fresh water supply

  • fragile! acrylic is strong as hell, stronger then glass, think about it, the giant fish tanks at zoos, etc, are acrylic. Nice setup, quiet, and fast.

  • thumbs up for ODI BMX grips!

  • как вы сделали этот мотор?

  • How are the motors getting any cooling? Where is the airflow or are the water cooled? Is that a sealed case? How is the motor controller getting any cooling at all? No wonder you are getting increased temp readings

  • I prefer gas

  • SERIOUSLY cool project guys, brilliant stuff

  • I've clocked our 14 foot aluminum boat at 30mph (50km/h - GPS actually). That has a 25 horsepower motor. The difference between 22mph and 30mph is huge. You probably have more like 18hp, maybe a little more.

  • Do you know the watts per mile your using at that speed (18 mph)?

  • Very cool idea, but a 25 HP 2 stroke motor would push that aluminum a lot faster then 22 MPH. I have a 25 HP Johnson on a 15 Foot fiberglass runabout that's pretty heavy for its size. I get around 22-24 MPH out of her never mind the motor on a light aluminum boat. Awesome idea tho I would like to see the final product in a video!

  • where do u get that boat i looked on all the websites ik

  • @ebentraywick its nowhere near equivalent to a 25 hp a 25hp 2 stroke on that tinny would go soo much faster i have a 5 hp on a tinny about the same size thhat goes about the same speed, but i do agree that it is a good idea

  • @v133n Lets see how fast your 5 HP out board would take this boat with all its weight in batteries. Next time you want to compare boats speeds, be sure they weigh exactly the same and that the props are sized correctly, else your argument is a fail.

  • looks good, but out of my budget at least, so i will also stick with my 2 stroke outboard, thats half the fun in boating and fishing right there, hearing the roar of the engine, smelling the two stroke oil burning off and having a numb hand at the end of the day because the motor vibrates so much. sure this is more efficient, but like it or not, ill take the sentimentality of running a 2 stroke any day, because this is how i knew boats when i grew up, and thats how im gonna know them when i die

  • Good one guys.................Great effort !!!

  • I dont think you want your prop spinning that fast, most boats use a reduction because props actually top out on efficiency!

  • A++ for the motor

  • Huge!!! zero emission propulsion!!!

  • where can you get those???? i need to know

  • Needs a bigger prop.

  • its beautiful i wish i had a boet am getting land sick :D i wanna surf the sea at night time i will pay 1 thousand euros for a boet that can run :)

  • i wonder how long the motor will last not being vented . seems like you did what 4 trolling motors can do better but hell i dk what to think but its kinda cool

  • WOW, very impressive speed. Great job, looks so neat, too.

  • fast

  • you have just saved the boating industry ....

  • wow im impressed!!!

as for the engine heating up why dont yall run water from the lower unit up to cool the engine, just like in a gas outboard. Just a thought...cause i know that eletric RC boats use water to cool their engines also.

  • You guys are amazing. Kudos and keep up the great stuff!!!

  • Nice, good job. I saw one where they took and outboard bottom end, and bolted on one of those big ones like from a car 150Kw motors. it was FAST.

  • Please get this done soon.

I am an avid angler, and also try to be environmentally conscious.

I would love to see 25mph in a safe, reliable platform.

It would be great to have a 20 mile effective radius.

I am currently using dual electric trolling motors on a 12' V-hull aluminum runabout. 44lb. thrust bow with 55lb. thrust transom. It would greatly enhance my ability to fish waters over 4,000 acres safely if something like this was on the market.

    Cheers!

    BSL

  • very good job. 2 thumbs up :)

  • How many amp hours are those batteries, it seems as though you should get more than 20 mins out of them.

  • you should build and sell those on craigslist it could become your new wealth machine

  • super awesome! id buy one.

  • cool

  • all fun and games...until somebody gets electrocuted

  • @insanelygr8hair by dc? i think not

  • @ebentraywick does it fuck

  • so its about the same as a 14hp motor not a 25,

  • i want him:$:P

  • Put a roof on the boat that has solar panels too charge :)

  • but that would be fantastic for lakes that only allow electric motors. looks way more fun than some Minkota trolling motor.

  • pretty cool! but i'm gonna stick with my 5hp Tohatsu. it pushes my boat about the same as ur electric motors and even puts it on plane!

  • @rowen211 4 stroke or 2 stoke ive got a 5hp 4 stroke as an auxiliry for my rib

  • great job. how much to build?

  • wow! holy crap! I didn't actually expect it to go that quick with one person in it. Good job, now al you need is something like a hydrogen fuel cell to power it and you'll be sweet.

  • great power, i also like the videos of the electric jetski called ecoWatercraft

  • 2.29 , it is like a plane is approaching, nice vid and nice motor.

  • 2.29 , it is like a plane is approaching lowl!

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT. I coach rowing. My launch is a catamaran. I do not go any faster than 20KM/hour. The launch I have is a stillwater weighs about 250 pounds. I currently use a 15HP motor that is PLENTY of power. I can't wait until I don't have to drag gas down to the launch anymore. I coach three hour stints every second day or so. What are my current options?

Thank you and great job. Keep innovating let's get rid of foreign oil!

  • A solar vent on top of the box might exhaust the warm fog and cool the motors. I had a vent for my enclosed battery/controller.

  • how many hp do you think ;)

  • impressive!!

  • great job!

  • very nice but you should have a fan on top to cool, yes ur wires are way too small. how much did you spend on this?

  • Wow very cool, I know nothing about capacity; would solar panels help out the system?

  • yes for recharging or in parallel with a blocking diode

  • Nice Trolling motor. I'll still stick with my Yamaha 250 Saltwater Series though.

  • You guys website sux, the quiktime movie link is all messed up, can't believe it locked up my pc!!!

  • why instead of worrying so much for the temp don't design some cooling system you have the whole lake for that purpose that sealed plastic box makes nothing but worst, the batteries you have are comparable to a probably a 500cc of gasoline and those two motors are only puting out 5 or 6 hp at the peak,,,way far from the 25 you want to get to, be realistic we don't need false profets like the GM Volt 230 MPG car.

  • they h ave 25hp electric motors now

  • thats awesome

  • I'm Glad To See this guys.

  • How high is the torqe? If it is high enough you could use a larger prop with a greater pitch, ala the prop used by the Torqeedo motor.

  • Love it. looks like a pair of washing machine motors.

  • Nice motor but I prefer gas outboards

Certain lakes don't allow gas motors anyway so that's what my Minkota Trolling Motor is for

  • Bigger batt cables more juice.

  • Outstanding! Impressive performance. Can't wait till this stuff gets more comman (and a bit more affordable). Until then, I'll use my old fashioned 2-stroke, but I'm following stuff like this very close. I like it.

  • what is the estimate cost of this motor?

  • Fantastic job guys.

Would love to see more videos of your future progress along with battery, motor and projected HP specs

  • Very nice for an electric, el-engines are the future! Much more torque, much less sound, vibration and fuel.

  • fuck eltric 2 stroke power kills eveything

  • Because of ignorant rednecks like you, this planet is in such a bad shape. But, of course, why should you worry. Just go have some fun with your two stroke engine and do not think about your kids future, you stupid fuck head.

  • I like internal combustion better as well, as long as they make it clean - the electric power comes from combustion anyway, if you think about it - the power plant.

Europe has been running diesels for years as the primary source of combustion, and they beat gas hybrids for economy and efficiency. Plus, Canada has pollution from mining the nickel for hybrid batteries.

they can make biodiesel from almost anything organic with only oxygen and water as a waste product(even from sewage).

  • @emeded You just SHUT UP!!!!!!! TWO STROKES ARE AWESOME!!!!!

  • @emeded and its people like you that will make the world into a electric world. who cares if the world dies have fun on its while its still around. use petrol your the fuck head

  • Very nice guys... Excellent.

  • put a small gas engine to charge the battaries, like a car battery sized generator

  • That was an amazing run! I know battery power is going to be an issue but you really have somethine good going for you guys. Keep up the good work!

  • How long will it run on a charge?

  • wtf is that ugly thing you need to get yourself a internal combustion engine a throught that crap overboard

  • How do you 'throught' something overboard?

  • thats eezee...first you follough an old two srtoughk around foughr a fu minutes, breething deep as ja gough, and in theigh ensuing moments of gasping clarity yu joughst heeve the dam thing overboughrd and voila! its throughten!...jeez, dont ja no nuthin??

  • @chipferbrains omg go to school and learn how to spell.

  • Hi Guys,

First of all thank you for the informative video, it is great! I am looking for a boat right now to convert myself. In what ways is there an advantage to two motors instead of one and what disadvantges are there in your opinion? How many amps/volts were you pulling? Greetings from sweden.

  • Can we do the Iron Man armor next? :D
