  • This song makes me wanna grab a bass and play the shit out of it. And I don't even play bass.

  • Jane Doe has really shown to me that there's more to Converge than meets the eye

  • @alex93metallica Wow, now that you mention it, this song is TOTALLY Slint.

    Loved Spiderland.

  • I have created an account in an offshore bank with a small board of trustees, which guarantees that in the event of my death, this song shall be played at my funeral. A stipulation in the contract has also been derived that, in the case the venue where the funeral is to be held does not have an adequate sound system to fully deliver the nuances of this song, one will be personally delivered by a local production company and constructed to play this song at a level of maximum compliment.

  • this has a very potent bass line.

  • Love the sound of the bass guitar in this track!!!

  • I FUCKIN love this song!

  • Indeed - structurally, this is very much like "Good Morning Captain" by Slint.

  • This was my favorite song for like...YEARS.

  • i can't almost hear them sing !!

    stupid song

  • @DisturbeDsam1 That isn't really the point of this kind of music...

  • @jemimalob

allright then, tell me whats the point then..

  • @DisturbeDsam1 Music is generally meant to establish a mood, or acheive a desired reaction from the listener. Maybe some avant-garde prog is meant merely to confuse/blow the mind of the listener. When music has screamed vocals, it's to make the mood very angry. This band wouldn't sound nearly as agressive if they sung in soft emotional falsetto voices (for example). Not that that wouldn't sound cool haha

  • @DisturbeDsam1

    you are stupid

  • @DisturbeDsam1 Of course this type of comment comes from a Disturbed fan. Have fun listening to your Top 40 garbage that is only marginally mediocre.

  • i love slint

  • Wouldn't you hate to be the girl that this album was written about...

  • @xAtlas1992x You mean Jacob wrote that after a mean break up?

  • @iraedivine13 Yeah, the whole album is basically an ode to a painful relationship.

  • @xAtlas1992x I'm glad she was a bitch to him, because this album came out of that. I want to send her a thank you card..

  • @xAtlas1992x i would be proud ... she know's about how to cause pain and the results are wonderful

  • Best song on the album!

  • Sounds a lot like Slint

  • @tokyohalogen

    if slint was on PCP

  • @Svenous imagine if converge and slint collaborated. unf.

  • @harmonykorine471

    god would quake in fear

  • the sickest, darkest, purest groove ever.

  • saw these guys live

didnt really know them but after that i thought they were pretty good

  • album cover suits perfectly

  • CONVERGE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!

  • eerie ass tune, one of my favorites.

  • noisecreep(.)com/2009/12/02/best-albums-2000s/

I posted a comment here a while ago that received some controversy. I would like to back up my stance.

  • @fakeaname nice :D and wow even after 8 months you still show up to backup your words :D that proves a TRUE fan right there :P \m/ +50000000000 thumbs up :D

  • Jane Doe will make you never want a girlfriend ever again if you listen to it post-breakup

  • @RPExecutor couldn't have said it better myself.....you can hear the love crumbling....best album ever

  • i like this, it kind of reminds me of Neurosis, its got that doom, hardcore, experimental feeling to it.

  • Guitars ... They sound bring to deepness of filth ...

    Beauty ...

  • LET

    HIM

    SOAR

  • this is some thick, dirty fuckin sludge. seeping through my speakers. i fuckin love it

  • Sounds like shit hitting the porcelain.

  • Not...not know Acid Bath?

    Maaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • I haven't even heard the band "Acid Bath" to be honest... My nickname shouldn't be related to some band.

  • Reegatron you make me jealous. i want to smoke a joint with them.

  • Amazing song

I've had it on repeat for quite a while now lol

  • Says the acid bath fan. Douche

  • This song is great

  • i love this shit

  • It's deep d:

  • i think they're stoned xD

  • straight edge is what they are

  • im not english whats that?

  • no drugs, no alkohol, no tobacco, jacob is also vegetarian

  • kk well then...

    nice! :)

  • Negative. Jake Bannon is straight edge, but the rest are not. I know because I had a beer and a joint with them! They define themselves as a hardcore band, not a straight edge band.

  • Converge - is the screaming of broken beauty

  • @EajacyHellfuck -dude, sry, I meant to thumbs up ur comment, i accidently hit the wrong button

  • @EajacyHellfuck well said.

  • this is so fucking scary beautiful, i fucking love it. converge are the beatles of heavy music, suggit haters.

  • WOOOW!!!

i never heard from this band before but THIS IS THE SHIIT!!!

    yeah!

  • That deserves a ..

    :D

  • @mowgliinthenite FUCK THE BEATLES.

  • @sammpaull2722 hahahahahaha

  • I looove that basesound, I think I'm gonna marry it

  • Converge is amazing. Such a creative band.

  • i love this it gets me crazy

  • I sorta like this song too, at bit more melodic than the other tracks Ive heard by'em.

  • They should make more songs like this.

  • this song is... interesting. very interesting. i like it.

  • i loveeeeeeeee ♥

  • Comment removed

  • I beg to differ sir.

  • That's cool, I don't even have a particular problem with BTBAM, in fact I like them. The only thing I was getting at is the last 3 albums have been essentially the same cd.

  • Yeah well youre another throw away person in life.

  • lol those guys are rather stupid :) but i definately see you point and from converge check out the newest album it's a great one ; )

  • hey we like it so fuck you

  • Amazing lyrics, apocalyptic guitars. I love it.

  • youre right no heroes is awful

  • I got a horrible impretion of this band by listening to no heroes. that song sucked ass. it was just like 3 riffs the whole time. but this song is kinda unique sounding. it's sludgy and atmospheric. i dig it.

  • i agree that No Heroes was a horrible single. but it matched really really well in the album, and the album itself is pure angst - my second favorite, first of course being... well i dont even have to say it, why else would i be listening to this song right now

  • Rob123cool..he should have hit you in the face perhaps to knock some sense into your head..id be the closes to an honorable moment youll probably ever see..bannon is an icon to the hardcore industry..and the day ''nobody'' applauds for converge is the day you get an idea of what hardcore music is..these guys are fucking pioneers to what we established as ''metalcore''. feel free to pick and choose what bands youd like to critique..but converge is simply not one of them.

  • also ROB123COOL... we all know you went to see dethklok, and that gives you no credibility to say who is a good band. dethklok is a joke, and so is your opinion in music

  • converge are more metal then most bands out there. almost every metal band out right now is just riding the fads, but converge make music by their own rules and it owns. name me one act in the past 5 or 10 years that is still doing what THEY want. all these fucking deathcore bands will be gone in a year. all this "tech" metal is just masturbation. it just, look how fast we are.

  • Between the buried and me... there i just named a band that r doin wat theyve always bin doin

  • What a fuckin' stupid comment. They've progressed more in 3 album's than most bands will in their entire career, and all their solo projects stacked on top.

  • You clearly listen to an incredibly small selection of metal if that honestly what you think.

  • thw shit most people eve call metal now a days is so rehashed, been done b4, blah blah blah. psyopus= metal, ion dissonance=metal, the faceless=metal. i can see how some people dont think converge is metal but to me, they are more "metal" them all this deathcore shit and what not. making and album of just breakdowns is not metal

  • i saw this band live last night. they sucked. fucking singer almost hit me in the face with his mic. nobody applauded for them.

  • Here is my 2 cents. Good enough to quit their day jobs. I wish i could say the same for me

     But i work at night.

  • and i appreciate it for its great lameness.

  • wow actually a decent Converge song...

  • This is the single most important album of the 2000's. And this song is the best there is. If I could lose my virginity all over again it would be to this song.

  • you are fucking retarded. They single most important album of the 2000's????????are you kidding? god damn I feel sorry for you. These guys blow ass hole. I saw them live a few days ago and I was laughing the entire time

  • thats because youre a metal fan, not a hardcore fan. Theres a big fucking difference. You dont have to udnerstand it, or appreciate it, but if youre gonna talk shit you should probably know that theris a strong difference in genre.

  • It might not have been the most important album of this decade, but it's definitely up there! Jane Doe was the most crucial part of the Metalcore roots, do your research! Also, it doesn't make a difference if you hate it or not, grow up!

  • I agree with this Cajun guy, to a point. I don't think that this is the most important album of the 2000s. (Crack the Skye!!! or Oceanic, possibly) But seriously, give it a chance, dude. It's pretty inaccessible at first, but once the density starts wearing off, it is bomb as fuck.

Seeing them live without knowing a lot of their stuff previously I must admit was a bit of a challenge. I couldn't wrap my head around it.

  • I'm sorry, but saying Crack the Skye is one of the most important albums of the 2000s is a complete JOKE. You have no idea what these guys set off, and Crack the Skye didn't do anything not done before it. And Oceanic is amazing, but again is nowhere near most important.

  • Fair enough. You took the word "important" to mean influential and groundbreaking, I took it to mean something like, well, important to me.

  • you are dick, let people have a fucking opinion

  • The told good jokes? You'd think they would play there amazing music.

  • no they played shitty metal core. It was so bad it was funny. The singer would also get extremely emo in between songs and talk about shit like"This song is for everyone who needs a hero". Fucking gay.He also plugged his new album like 6 times.

  • Then why they hell did you look this up if you thought it was funny?

  • I had to see what they sounded like on record. And it is just as bad as it was seeing them live.

  • Dude, if you hate them so much then why do you keep posting comments on how they suck on every video by Converge?

  • Because people keep responding with questions.I'm being polite.Oh and it's hilarious.

  • metal core? fucking hell mate, fair enough if you dont like something but atleast know what you dont like.

  • they never did any of that when i saw them live hahaha.

i think your talking out of your ass son.

  • no I speak the truth...son

  • i listen to all walks of music and even I can appreciate this album for it's lamented greatness

  • Wow, I had no idea what that would set off. Thought everyone who likes heavy ass shit would appreciate the tightness and energy that this group brings to the table. Maybe I'm the only metal guy who keeps punk rock close to my heart.

  • 3:23 makes me Quieff

  • If you're a guy, that just makes the song all the more powerful.

    lol

  • best converge song ever.

    most epic riffs ever.

this song still gives me goosebumps after the 10,000th time listening to it.

if you don't have this whole album, i would highly suggest it to everybody.

    read all the lyrics.

    beautiful.

  • the songtext you know?

  • anyway..i think he killed the prostitude

  • i really need to get this album

  • my mate has this image tatooed on his arm...intense.

  • I know a dude who has it on his arm as well, it's just her head though, not the rest.

  • Even though this isn't as fast as their other songs and doesn't really have any screaming, this is my favorite Converge song.

  • thats so good, wow

  • I love deftones but I have to admit I can't see much of a similarity between them and Converge. Maybe it's just me.

  • well i ment mostly this song, and more vocaly. but idk

  • just low, with reverb. i could name a billion bands that do that

  • do it. right now.

  • effort

  • How about awesomeness?

  • This kinda reminds me of deftones

  • definitely. got that droning quality to it

  • is so fucking psycho!!!!!!!!

  • Thats the catch.

  • genres dont really apply, being that most good bands; each songs can have different structures.

  • I think an hour on frost wire will serve me well with this band MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

  • I think that you people should stop trying to catagorize every fucking band you listen to. What? Do you not enjoy Converge as much if it's not mathcore. My ass. You catagorize the fucking music, you're a tool. A horrible piece of MTV raised corporate brain drain sucking filth. No, I'm not singling any one person out. The matter is that it is sad that in today's society everyone feels like they must group and subgroup everything. Knowing it's origin. Knowing it's future. Fuck that. I listen...

  • two thumbs up :D

  • thats word!

  • yea, your absolutely right man. i mean, i myself am guilty of categorizing music myself... but, i only do it because i listen to so many different types of metal. the only type of metal i dont like is black metal. but it is totally retarded to sit and fight about what band falls under which category because of one insignificant detail that vaires from genre to genre

  • church

  • The reason for bands to be subdivided in the first place was to help such individuals like us in finding bands that would have a similar sound to the ones we like. For example, I like Isis, who are post-metal/sludge. So, all i have to do is just search for the bands with the same tags.

Now, if there would be no genres whatsoever, how the hell am i supposed to find those bands?

Therefore, labelling, my friend, is in fact a very handy and useful tool when searching for new music.

  • I agree, i love genres. Some people act like it's a crime to list any of your music under a genre.

  • labelling kills originality, no matter what you say. everytime a musician is starting doing something just to "be" in the genre, hes dead to me. and however, you can see that it doesnt even works cause people calls everything the way they want. and when music critics calls bands like MCR emo..? i never searched for something just because of the "genre" thing anyway. that would be boring. at this point were all on our own and have to search for what we like. cause there are simply way too many

  • well said, dude.

  • Nate's bassline kicks so much ass!

  • This is an absolutely amazing song.

  • If any of you used a genera the actually existed to describe this would be a little bit cooler

also which album is this from?

  • Are you implying that mathcore isn't a genre or are you talking about all the odd terms thrown about below? Mathcore is very well established at this point.

  • No I know mathcore is a genera it's pretty sick, I'm talking about the stupid shit below I.E. indie "stepcore 2step funk deathleadstokill metal", "rape/ganga core, CORE core, and Koolcore(I know most of these are ment to be jokes but like FUCK THAT SHIT)

  • lmao i'm sure they're just joking haha XD and it's off of Jane Doe album :in stores now o: so buy it cuzz it's worth every last penny :D

  • sick thanks It seems like its worth every penny

  • yeah o.o i hope all of you are being very overly sacrcastic or else you guys reaaaally need some help XD

  • do you know which album this song is from??

  • Jane Doe

  • any other songs as soft and musical as this one?

other songs i found sound a little too mashed up for my taste..

  • grim heart/black rose is pretty calm...and well they are calmer than the rest but still a bit chaotic: Phoenix in Flight, Lonewolves, and Trophy Scars, and u can kinda fit in Distance and Meaning XD

  • its fucking called mathcore you goddamn retards.

  • im really bad math

  • i found it!

    it'sjustmusiccore!

  • no, im still pretty sure its COREcore

  • I thought of "indie stepcore 2step funk deathleadstokill metal"?

  • this album, Jane Doe, is one of the defining works of the modern metal/rock scene. They combined the ferocity of grind and hardcore with the experimentation and creativity of indie. There would be no breakdown-core or whatever-core or any of that without Converge.

  • horrorcore?

  • maybe not horrorcore, or pornocore, or sci-fi core, but possibly obesecore and agriculturecore. oh, and happycore. that's the best.

  • Don't forget quasi-intelligentcore.

  • are you a fan of veiled-insultcore? I'm not.

  • Yeah, and I also love coolcore.

  • I think it's more like koolcore. GET DOWN, GET DOWN!

  • i think its rape/ganga core?

    but thats just me

  • fantasticore, pussycore-.-

  • Converge is good band, but i like still more Raein, daïtro, la quiete and envy
