@Blitfast Thank you very much. I am trying not to get into anything too intense since this is my first attempt at the iphone but I do enjoy the mario style 2d games so I wanted to try a game like that. I hope people enjoy the game for some simple fun.
I do think that the real hard part in all of this will be getting ppl to know about the game, since it is easy to get lost in the app Store.

Nice game, congrats!
Are you using a CCSpriteBatchNode along with a texture atlas?
Thats the correct way to optimize sprites, also, your textures should be sized in powers of 2.
Example: 64x128, 256x256, etc
Also its a good idea to create a loading scene, so y can preload sound and music for example.
I hope y Fps get to 60!

Did you work out why the FPS was dropping when including the background image?
