I think the Science skill is a bit underrated. I did very well with a 100 science, small guns, and medicine character since those two skills can increase the effectiveness of medical items and allow you to find some real nice stuff, especially in Vegas.

Because I'm all about quality over quantity. LPs on the other hand are quantity over quality due to their sheer length.

If I could conjure up an effective solution to the length issue I would do an LP. Until then though I won't do one.

wow. I've been playing Fallout 3 since launchday, and have played through NV and FO3 extensively (clocking probably about 1000 hours between them) and I did not know that about the open and close brackets. I've ALWAYS just hacked using words, even when using a hacking oriented character

It should also be noted that you can quit the terminal with 1 try left, and when you reopen the terminal you have the full 4 tries again. Also, a good tip is to look for the most common suffix appearing in the collection (such as "ed," "tion," "ing," etc), because the most common word ending is usually part of the answer, and if you don't get at least the length of the ending correct, then you can rule out all words that end with that set of letters.

Another good tip is using the suffix. ed,ed,ing are usually used by more than one word in the mini-game at a time. if there are more than 1 ing word there try one, if you get 3/X or higher, then there is a good chance that your password is one of those words. That can also help in lowering your chances of failure and the search for more of the symbols.
