  • Hi-My name is joshua and am new to the field of converting heat into energy. I'm in the process of making a thermo-couple using a 1.5 x 16 inch steel pipe that develops an internal heat source of 2, 000 F.The front 2/3's of the pipe is hot & the back 1/3rd cold. No. 8 x 8 inch copper leads are inserted into the steel pipe with ends protruding into the fire with the cold side as the 1st ref. pt.The 2nd. ref. pt. is the cold side of the iron pipe designed as a common junction. Will this work?

  • @joepipe101 It should work, but I'm not sure you'll get much voltage from it. I use the peltier cooling chips that are readily available, these have about 30 semiconductor junctions and produce 0.6 - 2V here.
