  • I am indeed so frivolous sometimes! I thought it was "Fields of Nephilim" rather than "Fields of The Nephilim"...

  • sexy sexy sexy

  • One of the best gut wrenching rock songs of all time. God just listening to this again is a gift bringing back the soul. You can just feel the cry from Carl.

  • ME gusta, me gusta, me gusta !!!!!!!Gracias Mackoy, Petit, and company!!!!!

  • Just found this in my stack of vhs videos in the attic

  • trance like and biblical

  • The earth is good the earth is good

    Between the cracks and hollows

The earth is good the earth is good

    I love this song

  • Fields of the Nephilim are forever. (Carl's cameo in "Hardware" was pretty cool too)

  • @HoofandHorn Fuck yeah it was, he just played himself... can't do much better than that.

  • Que buena banda, buen sonido y buenas letras. No se por que no la encontré antes...Es excelente!

  • Love this song... Love Mccoy

  • long live watain

  • Yes it would perfectly fit to a dark tower movie. while reading the books i always imagines mccoy as being roland deschain

  • You know a band's got talent when they sound even better live than they already do on their album(s).

Shame Trees Come Down from this gig isn't on here; that's fucking powerful.

  • That bassline is pure ownage as is the clean guitar lines and the drumming.

  • I remember Carl from the film Hardware . They were better than the Sisters .

  • Remember the gig well.I Was there when they filmed it and still have the entry ticket.both myself and my brother are in the film when they panned the que outside at the start,.:)

  • Carl Macoy seems to just came out from a fantasy book. pure magic...

  • @shi2500

I've been reading through Stephen King's Dark Tower series, which is western/fantasy/horror. Let me tell you, if they ever made those into movies, Fields would have to do a soundtrack for them.

  • @shamusolarry yeah!!!!...always imagined songs like "Endemoniada" the perfect track for an ideal tv serial based on Stephen King's Dark Tower

  • leather clad ass mmm.....ahem..i mean voice of perfection...also..hehe

  • @maritimemoose oh wow. forgot i said that o.o must of been drunk commenting.

  • Fields are one of the bands that doesnt shy away from the big feelings the majestic sounds.. Thats why people like them I guess!

  • The man in the hat is absolutely genius. And one of the most charismatic persons alive. The atmosphere, the music, the voice, lyrics... Everything is so... so. And FOTN is one of those rare bands who have really, really great live records which are pleasure to listen.

  • @BlessedDeviant the man in the hat is called Carl Mccoy and he rocks!

  • @Davelopper

I do know who he is, he's my favorite artist. I just like this expression it was written in one great interview with Mr. Mccoy.

  • @Davelopper The Rev. Carl Mccoy

  • Classic. There's a lot of people. Famous, important and just peaceful people who will have the Nephs in their iPod somewhere. In terms of immersive music ... they were up there with Floyd and Zep. Great, great band.

  • amazing song, very deep...i love it!!

  • Going to learn this on bass

  • i was at this gig and it was fantastic!!! ah the memories!

  • fantastico 10 !!!!

  • great!

  • uhm...godooooooooooooooooooo

  • i saw the nephilim live on many occasions and they never, ever failed to deliver! i still play their albums to this day, 20 years later! arrogance aside, they were fantastic, they let their ego's get in the way though, as a lot of talented musicians did and still do. sad really.

  • Excelent!

  • haha my mum used to play run outs with the band members how awsome!!!!!!!

  • love the jangly guitars on the intro.the fields of nephilim feature on the rare gothic album trumps featuring many of the bands in the 80's the sisters, bauhaus

    now on ebay.....enjoy........

  • I like to look at Mr. McCoy. He is very easy on the eyes :)

  • The bass and guitar tabs for this song are so... Enchanting.

This reminds me the Neph was one of the best of their kind.

  • very very very true

  • @HawK047 They were the ONLY one of their kind!

  • q vos impresionante,vengan a argentina como vino sisters despues de 25 años,los esperamos

  • wow! awesome band, great live and look well cool :P good quality video nice post

  • its music make feel like..i don't know...like a"nirvana"situation or smthng:)

    i am travelling,i am"leaving"..

  • People, stop listening to genres, start listening to bands. Long live FOTN! Long live /enter your fav band/!

  • @zomambik - Great comment and mindset. Mine would be Joy Division.

  • crap i want this dvd too ffffs !! FOTN always was better than The Sisters, esp the singing

  • youre an even bigger idiot, you use IE7 and you seriously need to weed out your cookies, i can see where youve been, thought youd like to know. Fucktard.

  • Stop fighting over opinion. Some people like Bauhaus more then the Sisters. Heck.. Some people even hate The Sisters while they love Bauhaus and FOTN..

Stop hating people based on taste.

That goes to your Chosen7uB3, not mrrotweiler2.

  • Stfu, and im more of a sister's man to be hounst but i do like this band AND each our own. and exactly i used to stick to one genre was a waste of time...theres so much amazing music from all genres

  • you contradict your own statement there, "i like this band AND to each our own" and after that followed "stfu" to someone elses opinion, btw thats not how one spell "honest"

  • all im saying is i personally prefer sisters of mercy but each to our own, and i was saying shutup to your crappy comeback anyway lets leave it and enjoy the tune.

  • yeha... but fotn have a little bit rocker sound... I prefer the voice and the music of sisters in songs like marian ...is totally atmosferic..and the voice 100% gothic...but in live elritch can't sing ...si nephilim is better

  • nephilim es mas rock,no mejor q sisters creo

  • Class tune. Check Carl as the Zone Tripper in Hardware on our channel.

  • my dad went to see them where ever they went all over Europe all i can remember is FOTN and alot of grunge like AIC, PEARL JAM AND SOUND GARDEN AND AS MY DAD ALWAYS SAYS FOTN ARE THE DOGGZ BOLLOX LOL AND NIRVANA ARE 2 BOB (SHIT)

  • FOTN rule.....this is from the Forever Remain vid aint it.......fucking awesome band. Love em

  • This is a beautiful song!!!!Carl is so great!!!

  • Is it progressive industrial goth post pagan rock, or is it just fucking the dogs bollox?

  • As spaghetti metal goes, it's the badger's nadgers ;)

  • Keep dreaming. Its just Gothic Rock dude.

  • clearly, listen to the way he sings, listen to the guitar and bass, the aesthetic is dark and shadowy, the very epitome of gothic rock!

  • Fuck Yeah! What a great band these guys were. Jesus people you spend all your time trying to catagorize music. I read this kind of shit on every music video. Have you ever just enjoyed the music? What's wrong with people today? Open up those narrow minds. I grew up loving all different kinds of bands and and went to hardcore shows but also saw Siouxsie, Alien Sex Fiend, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Sisters and so on. I love reggae and even good rap. It's not about genre but about good music.

  • That's right, man! I'm tired to read comments where people only argue about what's the name of the genre of the music the band plays. And by the way: they still are a great band, they still play shows!

  • I don't suppose they ever play in the states(?) Didn't know they were still active.

  • Yeah, they are! They played at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival 2008 in Finland! I was there, awesome gig, and I have heard that they may do a new album! Excelent music, hope they will remain for a long while!

  • Exactly.

Hmm... name some other bands you listen to?

Have you heard of the band Rasputina?

They're sort of, uncharacterizable, because they play country, rock, goth, jazz, dark, light, fast, slow, etc.

    I love them.

But the reason I ask is because two of those bands (Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Dead Can Dance) I have/do listen to.

  • Hey Otterheart, The list would be long but here's a few you may like: Tuxedomoon (the albums with Blaine Reininger), Milemarker, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Cocteau Twins, old XTC (through Skylarking), PJ Harvey, Birthday Party (and of course Nick Cave), Rowland S Howard, Tones on Tail man, I could go on and on, maybe you've heard of most of these bands. I checked out some Rasputina and they seem pretty cool. Will have to listen to some more.

  • Of the music of theirs I've heard, Cocteau Twins play such beautiful music. THough I've only heard a few songs.

And the only others I've heard of is PJ Harvey (Though never heard any of their music), and Tones on Tail, whom my dad loves.

    :)

  • i think the main reason for genre is so if someone asks what kind of music one likes you can say "metal" or "Rap", but overcomplicating it kills the purpose "oh i like metal with punk influences and hard rock roots and a goth aesthetic" most people will walk away and have dinner before youy finish telling them what you like! i mean i know people who will say "Oh i only like death metal" and thats ok, but they dont dis on other genres. i like everything

  • I agree with you on that. My point is when these guys started that there was no term for the kind of music they and other bands like them were making. I just don't like the way too many genres constrict bands and fans. I'm open minded about music. Back when "punk" started you had Blondie, the Ramones, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Iggy, Dead Boys, Television, Suicide, New york Dolls, etc. all supporting each other and playing together even though each of these bands had their own style/ sound.

  • yuh, I hear ya there.I mean I see other reasons for classifying music, just like art, but unless you are talking to someone that is as much into music as you are, try to generalize what you are "into" I love music of all types, it just depends on the way the songs are put togeather..

  • quit arguing about the genre and appreciate the music *wink*

  • FAB.Great stuff.

  • it was NEVER known as gothic rock.... just goth....

  • What the hell is pagan rock??

  • This is nothing like Pagan rock, wtf are you talking about?

  • The Genere is Gothic Rock.

  • great song

  • HAHHAAH NICE ONE TY

  • Sisters of Mercy é bem melhor

  • Sisters of mercy = little league compared to this.

  • bella musica,bei tempi.

  • This song has so much energy. Thank you:)

  • <33

  • Beautiful song. Thank you for posting this.

  • Mothafix, I agree. That bass line is great. 8)

  • me and my pal gav covered ourselves in bero and went to the broken doll.Golden times.

  • Not the since knocked down Broken Doll in Newcastle?

  • aye, the broken doll is history man.

  • man, those were the days...

  • (L)

  • Awesome bass line!

  • My favorite song!

  • Saw them at the Forum Camden mid 80's fucking awesome, the bass went deep inside. When I die I want this and New Dawn Fades by Joy Division playing. :-)

  • You're so lucky! I was too young and in the wrong continent. Dammit!!!

  • FOTN were so superior to SOM. Too bad this was lost on the masses who just craved a drum-machine.

Carl McCoy remains the sexiest man on earth. Eldritch is but a spindly fool next to him.

  • This is the truth!

  • FOTN are one of the best bands ever

  • They're the best band ever indeed!

  • i was in liverpool the same year, they were so fuckin' cool, and they still are, check muorning sun, carl mccoy sounds rough as ever

  • the real gothic rock of the 80`s

  • this song destroys, but whats with the horrible camerawork and editing?

  • comment dire ...... un mot : R E S P E C T

  • siameses brothers of the Sisters of Mercy

  • Sorry...but dont mix the real one and unique gothic rock Fields with a one guy Eldricht that make just one bad album...if was not the Hussey Sisters didn exist :)

  • Sisters of Mercy, The Mission UK, The Fields of the Nephilim, The Swams, Sex, drugs, and Jesuschrist, An also the tree, Bauhaus, Xymox, Dead cand dance, This Mortal Coil, Ghost dance, etc.

  • and this is live - LIVE! not studio recording. how great were they? (& always will remain)

  • I think they sound a lot better on stage rather then on studio.

  • I Agree, this sounds so much better.

  • One of my favourite songs.chaotic.and very sad.I cry every time i hear this song.

  • gosto muuuito do fields, mas ele tá muito mendigo com essa roupa, rsrsrsr!!!!
