  • he composed this in his early teens, as long as I can remember

  • This piece is really good.

  • Knows someone where I can find the scores of this piece?! :) thanks!

  • Is not it Beethoven's moonlight sonata from 1:37 to 2:13?

  • @yurastrus no. it may sound like it but its not.

  • Ragtime? Why? Just cause it's played on a cheap piano? Cripes.

  • It must be borne in mind that most of Nietzsche's solo piano pieces were composed when he was a boy, between the ages of 11 and 20. He had piano training from his mother, and picked up some counterpoint from books. But he was almost entirely self-taught and because of his education in philology, barely had the time to perfect his musical training. For him, music was an instinct, but unfortunately, he never had the benefit of proper training.

  • Doesn't sound very rag-timey to me at all. It's more comparable to mid-Beethoven/Liszt to my ears. It shows promise, too. Maybe he should have given some effort to making music; his works are so poetic, anyway.

  • @thinedoor2 Opera?

  • Don't know if this has a ragtimey ring, but ragtime certainly has a Nietzschean ring to it, as do all the great pop styles of the 20th century.

  • is this actually a nietzsche tune? its kind of rag timey
