  • I know Quebec is like the biggest country in Mexico but I have to admit I really don't like it. I shit myself yesterday and called my friend from Quebec he was like "FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING STALKER! DONT CALL ME ANY FUCKING MORE!" So I was like "dude! I'm covered in shit and my best friend is angry because I called him 327 times today! WTF MAN!

  • we could all claim Independence, my county of Yorkshire, England could. we've been occupied by dozens of outside powers since history began. Never mind the bloody Normans (French) who's decedents still own 2/3 of the land here.

we could all claim independence until we're a globe full of squabbling independent city states, but that's a step backwards, i think

    Bang on!

  • Yeah get the fuck out Quebec and take your fucking language with you. You know how annoying it is to have French forced on you through school up to Grade 8 when 95% of your province is English and the rest speak Asian languages and nobody fucking speaks french? That's how it is in Western Canada. Even Ontario has only 5% French Speakers .... This country is 77% ENGLISH, WHO STORMED QUEBEC YEARS AGO AND BEAT YOUR ASSES, YOU ARE LUCKY TO EVEN BE SPEAKING FRENCH. KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES OR GET OUT

  • @XileLord Are you fucking stupid? Don't you know how important it is to learn a foreign language? Not only because it could be ''useful'' but also for the CULTURE. Quebec and France has an interesting literature, musical scene, art and so on. But you're not aware of that, listening to your American Pop Culture crap. You are uncultivated, racist, and disrespectful. Go to school fucking troll and stop being so ''fermé d'esprit''. Dumbass.

  • @LaBellicosa Learning Spanish or some Asian language is much more valuable then fucking french. It's only important to learn a foreign language depending on what you want to do with your life or where you want to go. Most of the time it's for convenience and nothing more. 77% of this country doesn't need to put up with the french bullshit, fine make it a option but don't force it on the public who want nothing to do with it.

  • @XileLord I learned German, you know why? Because it is exciting to learn another language.German was an awesome challenge.I speak both French and English so I have access to both French Canadian and American/Canadian culture and that is amazing. Because I am a proud Canadian even though I speak French as a first language.I don't judge you because you're a racist americanized twat I judge you because dare calling yourself a Canadian. I just want a united country. Don't you?

  • @XileLord In fact, according to certain linguistic theories, as soon as you are bilingual it is way simpler to learn other languages. And if you already speak French, it is a good start!I learned spanish in no time. I speak 4 language and I plan to learn Russian because I want to know more about Russia. But you Canadian redneck could not understand that, in your closed racist mind. And get your fact straight : 57,8% speak English only, 22,1% speak French only and 17,4% are bilingual. 58% / 40%.

  • @LaBellicosa I love how you describe somebody who doesn't want a language forced on him as a "red neck" It's ridiculous to assume that 17.4% speak both English and French because they don't. You realize a good chunk of that 17.4% are immigrants from other countries and the majority of those French speakers are located in one province in the entire country? This isn't about other languages, this about having french forced in a country primarily composed of English and other languages.

  • @XileLord It's ridiculous yes because there is probably much more people than that, they count down perfect bilingual I guess! I come from a 97% French speaker area and trust me they are maybe not comfortable in their speaking but they could understand, write and mumble in Eng. Us too were forced to swallow bilingualism pill from our young age (5 years old precisly) Quebec is like a nation in a nation. Marginalized. Bilingualism is there to create fucking unity.

  • @XileLord But we are the only one believing in bilingualism as I can see. Still, I am happy to know that you are forced to learn French. I did not know that. Even here in Quebec, immigrants are not forced to. Bill 101 should be reinforced. Quebec is probably the last of your interest in an English speaking country but bilingualism is simply to open yourself to our French Canadian culture. Sorry for being rude with you I am a little defensive when it comes to language issues.

  • @LaBellicosa Nah it's fine, my first comment was extremely arrogant and ignorant of me. I honestly can't even remember typing it, it was probably just a shitty day. While I disagree with some of the things, I respect what you believe.

  • @LaBellicosa btw I'm not saying French shouldn't be a open option, but that's all it should be and nothing more.

  • I don't give a shit one way or the other but from what I can recall from the last time there was a referendum on independence for Quebec, the politics on the "nay" side were simply horrible. Simply, simply horrible.

  • I agree, there should be independence for Quebec.

  • Haha Drole

  • With all due respect, I would appreciate that if you are willing to assert such claims, you at least endeavour to support them. As it stands, you are carrying on with the oft used delusion that somehow the language I speak makes me a direct affiliate of an older Empire with which I maintain no such connections so as to justify antagonism towards my own person.

As for "not your own country". Every place in the Americas can make that claim!

North America was shaped by conquest.

  • Don't misunderstand me, while I am opposed to Quebecois nationhood, that is not to say I am in agreement with the forces that caused such demand for a sovereign Quebec to come about.

I'm a firm believer in bilingualism, and I seek people coming together to build Canada as the society it is supposed to be according to our legislation, one of multiculturalism, tolerance, and bilingualism. I feel that this is the best option, as ripping Canada asunder is something I think diminishes both "nations"

  • Harming both parties and killing both a country and a dream I feel has the potential to bring great benefit to all of its peoples, not just the Quebecois, the Easterners, the Natives, the French or the English, but to everyone.

  • @TheLastCanadian Your vision of Canada is very noble and I am sincere when I say that if the leaders on both provincial and federal level were thinking like you I wouldn't be a separatist. It's a paradox to say that but I'm proud to live in the same country than you :)

  • jeez, they are Canadian, thats a French word

  • Eh, while I can't say I'd look forward to them separating, it would certainly be interesting to see how long they last.

  • @TheLastCanadian With great energetic plans

    and having the most drinking water territory in the world;

it's clear it will be more than you think.

  • @SCrepeault I'm sorry, but I don't care to talk with separatists. This country needs people coming together to build it, not people seeking to tear it apart.

    Good day.

  • @SCrepeault I was unaware I was involved in the capture of Quebec. Furthermore, I was unaware that I was even alive in 1763, under the auspicies of the British empire. I'm sorry to have remained so ignorant of what I thought was my life.

Why aren't you equally Canadian? Hhhm. Good question. It's an unfortunate mix of factors, primarily demographics. French speakers, as you are probably acutely aware, are a minority. It's hard to rally support for bilingualism in provinces where its even less.

  • @SCrepeault I'm not quite sure what that smiley is supposed to represent......

At any rate, if you care to continue this, please send me a private message. I find youtube's character limits to be rather restrictive, and it makes fleshing out any point in detail a burdensome task.

  • Let us continue examining this: If not for simple numbers, let's consider the actual constitution, which has backfired on both French and English speakers. It has a clause that allows provinces to opt out of certain stipulations, one which is language rights. Bill 101 in Quebec, for instance, is only legal because of this.

Similarly, in provinces with minorities of French speakers, they have not seen fit to enact bilingualism.

Just let us go and don't come say to us: "we love you Qwebeck" when we separate. I appreciated what maclean's did with it's article it's a way to boost the separatist movement. Thanks maclean's!

  • @SovietMudkipTheTiger =: )

You already forgot about the Liberals?

Don't you worry: you're not alone.

  • LIBRE

  • I wanna know what's the name of this cartton. :P

  • @killerguitar44 The Critic

  • @ElGreatHambino

And Americans really know about Quebec's independantist movement?

  • @killerguitar44 Doubtful. Mainstream Media is a massive failure in this country. If you want to know something of no substance, then it will be covered. If you want to know something relevant and important, you have to scour the earth to find the news.

  • @ElGreatHambino I remember seeing in a "The Simpsons" episode 4-5 years ago, Marge holding a Canadian flag in one hand and a Québec flag in the other. Medias maybe don't talk about it but people with greater voices (imo) do ^^

  • @killerguitar44 Most Quebecers these dont even know about it lol its kinda non existant

  • @six80ususus

Eh?? All Querbecers know about Quebec's separatist project.

  • You cut it off! boo!

  • Soyons libre

  • Vive Jay sherman!

  • Isn't it sweet.. =)

In their crass ignorance they gave us France's french accent.

Thank god theres a hockey goalie on a moose...

  • @Vineon We would make the same kind of mistake with any other language than ours as well.

Know the difference between Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Argentina? I don't and most of us don't either. Doesn't mean we can't have fun anyway with the Spanish accent we do know of...

Mais c'est sûr qu'on aimerait mieux entendre notre véritable accent lorsqu'ils font allusion au Québec. ;-)
