I want to buy this, but does it come with charger adaptors for different countries? I'm specifically looking for a charger that will work in South Africa. South Africa uses the same sockets as the US.
I want to buy it on Amazon because it is not available in South African stores.
Hello your reviews are very good. I'm trying to decide between the braun 790cc or the new panasonic es lv81 arc 5. can u do a head to head on these 2 or at least review it thanks.
Great review! I am looking forward to getting the Series 7 - 790cc-4 for my birthday soon. Currently I use a Braun Series 3, fairly standard electric razor; my question is, will I notice a complete difference as far as cutting power and smoothness with the Series 7? Particularly in the neck/chin area?
Thank u so much for ur review. U were the reason I got this shaver for my husband. My husband is using it everyday, he loves it, never used electric shaver before. He has sensitive skin,so I was afraid it might irritate his skin, but nothing yet, he says it is very gently.
However u didnt say anything about changing the blades. How often do u do that?
Thanks for the comment. I'm very glad I helped you out and happy your husband is enjoying the shaver.
The recommended time frame for changing the blades is usually between 12 - 18 months. It will depend on how often your husband shaves, how well he cleans the shaver, and how thick his facial hair is. I would say that when there's a noticeable dullness to the shave the blades need to be changed, but again this may be after 12 months, or not until 2 plus years.
@ElectricShaverGuide Hi Sr, I have a this question, I need a shaver that lets you to choose shaving by millimeters because I don't like clean shaving I like to leave some hair on my face, is there any shaver that let's you adjust shaving by sizes just like haircut machine has heads for all sizes? I know there must be one like that but I'm having trouble to find me like that and I need the best one, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
You will probably want to look into a beard trimmer for this. I haven't made any video reviews but you can find some information on beard trimmers on the site.
Great video! Helped me decide to pick up a 790cc. Are all 790ccs labelled 790cc-4 like the one you reviewed here, or is that a specific updated model?
@aavallone As far as I know, the 790cc-4 is the top of the line model, to this date. There is another 790cc model, but I believe the razor itself is all black, with a black charging station, and doesn't have a few of the options that the 790cc-4 has.
Hi Taylor, you mentioned in the video that liquid life is 2 months whether we use it or not if we leave the cap open, so you advise us to keep the cap and with this logic, does it mean that liquid will not lose its effectiveness for example 3 months later If we are use it only once a week. Regards Emre
I have had the Braun Series 7 for some time now not sure but seems like 3-4 years. I have replaced the Clean and Renew base once, since that stopped working, now the razor (model 9595) is now breaking. About a year ago the trimmer broke, now the chrome is peeling off quite extensively. I loved the razor, can I just get the razor that will still work with the clean and renew system or do I have to buy the entire Braun Series 7-790cc box. Would like your advice or should I go to Panasonic LA93
Hey there. The shopping links on my site actually offer the 790cc for cheaper (it really depends where you shop for it). It's priced around $200 but it fluctuates a bit. I put a link in the description which explains the differences between the Series 7 models for you to check out.
Great to hear that you found yourself a good shaver! Everyone's experiences with electric shavers is a little different, but I would think that a very small percentage of people would dislike this shaver. All the best.
It's meant to help with lubrication. Braun actually sells their own machine oil that you can apply to your shaver, but some users at Amazon.com feel it's overpriced and basic sewing machine oil is a better deal. I personally haven't used any.
Hi, I was looking at purchasing this razor, the main reason is because I hate manualing shaving. I was wondering what has been the closest shaving electric shaver you've used? Thanks.
Thanks for the review!! i was debating on getting the braun series 5 or the braun series 7. is the series 7 that much better then series 5? The only difference that i see is the polsonic feature on the series 7, is it worth paying more for the series 7? which one do you recommend? thanks
Hey there. Unfortunately I can't give a solid answer to this question because I haven't tested out the series 5. So my suggestions on this specific question would be based on other sources of research. From what I've seen, people like the series 5, however there are better reviews on the series 7. I plan on comparing these two shavers in the coming months. Sorry for the incomplete answer.
Do you recommend any shave prep for the Braun such as Lectric Shave or the like? Do you shave immediately after a shower? What about post shave products?
If you have sensitive skin and experience a bit of irritation, a pre shave oil like Lectric Shave can help. I plan on doing a comparison review on some products shortly. If you use the Braun Series 7 which is a dry shaver, you should shave before you shower, not after. I find with a bit of moisture, whether from cleaning your face or just a bit of sweat produces a less effective shave with this model. I find first thing in the morning with a dry face is best.
For the people who cry about the added $60 need to do some maths. I used to be a wet shaver as of today (got one for Christmas woo hoo!) and I use guilette fusion power. It's like £9 for 4 blades. Plus I have to buy gel etc so definitely electric is better and works out cheaper I guess.
I think the "shadow" you're referring to is just stubble, and when your skin is light and your hair is dark, it shows a bit more than when you have a tan, or your hair's a bit lighter. So there's no real way of removing that.
Yes it's faster. No need to prep with cleaning your face or applying shaving cream. With a normal day's growth it shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes. I can shave my face in 3 to 5 minutes comfortably with this shaver.
This shaver is not designed as a wet shaver and Braun does not recommend this in the manual, and I wouldn't recommend it either... however there are some people who have said they use it wet with shaving cream. I wouldn't use it in the shower.

There's just one mode on the SensoTouch, and if you have sensitive skin, go with the Braun!
Hi, if you have to choose between this Braun and the philips SensoTouch 3D 1280XCC which one do you choose?, one big difference is the price of the replacement heads, Braun = $30 and philips = $70. I think is very expensive.
You can check out my "best shaver of the year" video which explains a bit why I chose the Braun over the SensoTouch. I personally found the Braun to perform better. I think shaving performance is a bigger factor than comparing the price of replacement blades, but that's a good point that some people might need to consider, thanks.
Yeah you probably can, but then you would just be washing it with water, which you can just do by rinsing it under the tap. Also Braun recommends that if you do rinse it with water often, that you rub in some machine oil on the foil head once and a while.
It had a retail price of $269, however it has come down quite a bit. If you click through the links on the site, you can get it at a sales price of as low as $179 during the holiday season. It is usually ipriced at around $205. Other online retailers tend to offer it for around the same. Don't buy it at the original retail price.
Hello, great review. I bought one today. I was wondering does the charger station charge your shaver after every use? I don't think that's good for the battery in the long run. The own'ers manual doesn't indicate
When you put the shaver in the base, it automatically charges it. I don't think this will cause any problems though. I don't have the manual on me at the moment, but I know for sure the Panasonic ES LA93 K cannot be "overcharged", and I would imagine it's the same with the Braun. Normally shaves take around 5 minutes with this shaver, and in the long run I don't think the battery will have a problem lasting at least this long. IMO I don't think it will be a problem for you.
I just bought the 760cc and started using it yesterday. I wanted the 790 but Best Buy had my version on sale for $179.99... I'm definitely happy with it so far, so we'll see how it goes!
You've done a great review here, by the way. Keep it up!
I have used rotary shavers lately (norelco arcitec) and found that using the dust removal spray cans (usually used for cleaning keyboards, etc) worked great at removing the hair without the worry of scratching the parts or damaging them. But now I am switching to a 790cc. Do you think this would be a good idea to use them as well to manually clean the head if I was only wanting to using the cleaning system every couple days?
Hey thanks for the comment, that sounds like a really good idea. I usually remove the foil cap and brush or try and blow away some of the stubble before putting it in the cleaning system, so I would imagine those spray cans would do a way better job. Even if they don't fully clean the shaver, doing this "pre clean" will help keep shaving stubble out of the cleaning base and the installed liquid pack. Also, looks like there aren't any health concerns so let us know how it goes.
Excellent review. Thorough and concise. Shame it's not in HD but commentary was objective and to the point. So many reviews spoilt by rubbish music. I have now decided to purchase this product from amazon.
No I don't recommend using shaving gel or cream with this shaver. It isn't designed as a wet shaver, plus using it dry is all you need for a smooth shave with no irritation.
Hey there. When I use this shaver I usually remove the foil cap after shaving and shake out the stubble then run it through the cleaning station. I usually shave often (about every day or every other day) so there isn't too much stubble so the cleaning is always just on the low setting. So I probably run it through the cleaning system maybe 15 to 20 times a month because I normally don't shave on the weekends either. This way the cleaning cartridge lasts about 1 and 1/2 months.
Manually cleaning with water will make the cartridges last. You can do this effectively, however if you do this often Braun recommends that you apply some machine oil every so often to the foil to keep it in good condition. The other thing worth noting is that some of the cleaning liquid will dissolve if you keep it in the base without using it, so about 8 weeks seems to be the typical lifespan of an opened cartridge, unless you put the cap back on like the video demonstrates.
I wouldn't recommend using shaving cream with this shaver. Some people have said that they do, however it isn't a traditional wet shaver. Plus the dry shave is very comfortable so you don't really need any extra comfort.
If you have thick facial hair, I would not recommend this as a beard trimmer. It can straighten out side burns and trim down some longer facial hair, but it can't "buzz" down a beard like other beard trimmers can. If you want a smooth shave it's great, but if you want to leave some stubble there are better options out there.
Yeah, and that's if you use a cartridge each month, so not a huge expense. Prices for disposable blades and shaving cream will vary, but most people will pay around 60 dollars per year on replacing disposable blades and buying shaving cream.
Wow, that is really wasteful. I've had this razor for well over a year, and I only clean it once every few months. When you have finished shaving, you take off the head/foil and blow away all the stubble.
Well, maybe this is just a solution I use because my station is way more thirsty than yours apparently. It will drink a whole package of the fluid just in 5 times using eco-mode or quick clean. I've no idea why, but it has done so since the beginning.
Hey there. Sorry to hear about the large appetite of your cleaning station. Using the solution every few months seems like quite a stretch, but I'm glad that it's working out for you. I usually remove the cap and brush and blow out the stubble after a shave, especially if I haven't shaved for a few days, but I usually run it through the system a few times a week as well. Hopefully others can make their cartridges last a bit longer thanks to your comment. Thanks for sharing.

Hey thanks for subscribing, and talk about good timing. I'm currently reviewing the SensoTouch 3D and when it's done I don't think your prediction will be too far off :) Should be up within a week.
good review, i have a 8985 and i really like it. i only shave once a week (i like a mild beard) so i clean it like once every 2 months, pretty much the same as cleaning it once a week if you use it everyday. i wonder what would happen if i put water in the cleaning fluid?
Not totally sure. If you mix water with the fluid it would probably dilute it. If you just replaced the cleaning fluid with water and used the cleaning system I would imagine it would just be like cleaning it manually with water. I don't think the cleaning system would clean it any better with water than you would by rinsing it under the tap. I don't think it would cause any problems to the system by adding water, but I haven't tried anything like that. Let us know how it goes.
Supposedly electric razors can help reduce ingrown hairs, however this may not work for every situation. Shaving against the grain seems to be the main culprit in producing ingrown hairs, so some ppl might not react well to using electric razors. That being said, if you're going to use an electric shaver, then this one would be a good choice because it works so effortlessly. You don't have to apply a lot of pressure and irritation is at a minimum.
My target shavers are Panasonic ES-LA93-K, Braun Series 7 - 790cc and Philips Norelco 1280X/42 SensoTouch 3d. I'm waiting for your future reviews which will be helpful to make final decision.
Do you know some other high performance models to take into consideration?
Hi there. I recently posted a review comparing this Braun Series 7 with Panasonic's popular ES8249. For shaving experience, this Braun shaver is one of the best I've used, however when you start thinking about price and value for money, there are some other good options. It depends what factors are important for you, such as features, price and so on. If you visit the website you will find some articles which try and help you find the best shaver based on these differences.
Hey there. You shouldn't use this with any shaving cream or shaving gel. This shaver is not meant for wet shaving. Many of the Panasonic shavers you can use wet with shaving cream/gel. A top model is the Panasonic ES8249. This Braun shaver should be used when your face is dry only. You can use a pre shave oil like Lectric Shave, but that's about it.
if i had facial hair like yours, then almost any electric shaver could do the trick. my facial hairs are very thick and it's hard to get the perfect shave with a shaving machine. i already ordered this machine from the internet, i just hope it can cope with my grizzley-bear stubble
No, you can't use this shaver in the shower. If you want a shaver that works in the shower you should check out the other video review I put up on the Panasonic ES8249. This is another great electric shaver and you can use it wet or dry.
Hi there. I've been quite happy with the Series 7 so far. I really love how easy it is to use and clean. I just reviewed the Panasonic ES 8249 S which I thought was also a great shaver. I plan on trying some of the Braun Series 5 models out as well.
I can't express how this review was awesome and perfect, I spent around 2 hours in the internet searching for some website or anything that could give me some of all these valuable information, now I found them all, at your (unfortunately) not so much viewed video, all I can say is thank you so much for that amazing work, which helped so much.
im 15 and i bought Braun Pocket Go M60B Shaver for the first time , is it any good ? what would you recommend for having a really close shave for my age but also good for my skin?
At 15 all I remember was trying to grow my beard, not shaving it off, haha. I think the Braun PocketGO series should be a good start because I'm guessing your beard is not that thick.
Anyone know how long this will run on a single charge? I ask because I need to shave my head as well as face and am worried the battery will crap-out before it's finished.
A full charge battery should last around 50 minutes so that should definitely give you enough time to shave both your beard and head. Remember you can always use the cord as well.
Very rarely I experience a little razor burn but this only happens if I'm shaving with 2 or 3 days growth because I need to go over certain areas a few times. You'll notice that the shaver actually shaves against the grain so when you run your fingers UP on your face it's just as smooth as running them down in most areas. At the beginning this can cause irritation for some people but should go away. If this problem continues a product like Lectric Shave can definitely help.
Is Lectric Shave good for oily skin? Because i usually have to wash my face before shaving with my 790cc so that the skin can be dry and the shaver can cut more hair.
I wouldn't say that Lectric Shave is designed for oily skin, however you might find that it helps if you're experiencing a little razor burn. Lectric Shave is supposed to add a bit of lubrication so the shave is more comfortable. Some people like it and need it, others don't. This won't fix your oily skin so you might want to consider other approaches to reducing that if it continues to be a problem.
I want to buy this, but does it come with charger adaptors for different countries? I'm specifically looking for a charger that will work in South Africa. South Africa uses the same sockets as the US.
I want to buy it on Amazon because it is not available in South African stores.

BeyondNeptune 3 months ago
@BeyondNeptune

Drew1734 3 months ago
@Drew1734

Hey there. I haven't tried the ES-LV81 yet. Still too expensive I think.

do you recommend applying shaving gel before shave?
BallisticBrawler 3 months ago
@BallisticBrawler
No I don't recommend using shaving gel or cream with this shaver. It isn't designed as a wet shaver, plus using it dry is all you need for a smooth shave with no irritation.
ElectricShaverGuide 3 months ago
Great review, thanks for the effort.
I have few questions, 1- do you rinse theshaving head with water after every shave to clean it? Is that possible or will it ruin the head?
2- how many cleaning does the cartlidge last, and how can i make it last?
thanks man.
ahhm51 3 months ago
@ahhm51
ElectricShaverGuide 3 months ago
@ahhm51
Manually cleaning with water will make the cartridges last. You can do this effectively, however if you do this often Braun recommends that you apply some machine oil every so often to the foil to keep it in good condition. The other thing worth noting is that some of the cleaning liquid will dissolve if you keep it in the base without using it, so about 8 weeks seems to be the typical lifespan of an opened cartridge, unless you put the cap back on like the video demonstrates.

raneve23 3 months ago
@raneve23
I wouldn't recommend using shaving cream with this shaver. Some people have said that they do, however it isn't a traditional wet shaver. Plus the dry shave is very comfortable so you don't really need any extra comfort.

this shaver can beard trimmer?
9990Matan 4 months ago
@9990Matan
ElectricShaverGuide 4 months ago
Did not explain HOW the dock actually cleans the shaver head.
Entropy56 5 months ago
@Entropy56 turns on the shaving heads and squirts a fluid (anti septic and lubricant) against them.
You DO have to rinse it before cleaning or you'll waste the fluid in a few usages. If you use it right it can last for MONTHS.
And use shaving cream with it. Much smoother and less irritating for heavy beards like mine.

60 dollars a year..... That's nothing
crunkdaddy11 5 months ago
@crunkdaddy11
Yeah, and that's if you use a cartridge each month, so not a huge expense. Prices for disposable blades and shaving cream will vary, but most people will pay around 60 dollars per year on replacing disposable blades and buying shaving cream.
ElectricShaverGuide 5 months ago
Wow, that is really wasteful. I've had this razor for well over a year, and I only clean it once every few months. When you have finished shaving, you take off the head/foil and blow away all the stubble.
Well, maybe this is just a solution I use because my station is way more thirsty than yours apparently. It will drink a whole package of the fluid just in 5 times using eco-mode or quick clean. I've no idea why, but it has done so since the beginning.
stossan 5 months ago
@stossan
Thanks for sharing.

good review, i have a 8985 and i really like it. i only shave once a week (i like a mild beard) so i clean it like once every 2 months, pretty much the same as cleaning it once a week if you use it everyday. i wonder what would happen if i put water in the cleaning fluid?
tgshark1 6 months ago
@tgshark1 not trying to be cheap just dont like chemicals on my face
tgshark1 6 months ago
@tgshark1

Thanks for this review. I constantly struggle with ingrown hairs... do you think that this shaver could help?
AUKwrestle 7 months ago
@AUKwrestle

Awesome review!!! But one Q, Can I use it with Gel?
rajivjawa1 7 months ago
@rajivjawa1
ElectricShaverGuide 7 months ago
if i had facial hair like yours, then almost any electric shaver could do the trick. my facial hairs are very thick and it's hard to get the perfect shave with a shaving machine. i already ordered this machine from the internet, i just hope it can cope with my grizzley-bear stubble

1usernameleft 9 months ago
@1usernameleft
A full charge battery should last around 50 minutes so that should definitely give you enough time to shave both your beard and head. Remember you can always use the cord as well.
ElectricShaverGuide 8 months ago
@TheAcuralover90
ElectricShaverGuide 9 months ago
Is Lectric Shave good for oily skin? Because i usually have to wash my face before shaving with my 790cc so that the skin can be dry and the shaver can cut more hair.
MrBanilejo1 9 months ago
@MrBanilejo1
