Do you know what I have problem with? It's this whole idea of the catholic church being universal. I mean everyone knows or has heard of the Catholic church. You see it movies, in the news media. It's captured by the eyes and ears of almost every individual in the world. Didn't Jesus say in Matt7:13 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction"? @kiwichristian2009 Jesus died on the cross so that we can have a CHANCE for salvation and go to heaven IF we have faith in Him and DO what he taught. The simple claim that "Jesus purged all of our sins so we're all saved!" sounds too happy go lucky and not realistic. When one truly has the faith in Jesus, they will try to LIVE as He has taught (and he taught us to do many HARD things).

I don't mind the hour and fifteen minute Sunday Mass. I really love it actually. I even love the Great Easter Vigil which can take up to 3 hours or more. I love to praise his name and works (Narrabo Opera Domini)....and let's face it Latin is super cool. Catholic means "Universal" and I really love being a member of the true Church of Jesus Christ. Hence, why Martin Luther broke away from it, starting the Protestant church. But at the beginning, the church was meant to be universal with one doctrine and everyone with the same mind, that is the mind of Christ. Unfortunately, it's not like that...

What it meant? It means to be a part of the One True Church, established by Christ with Peter as the first pope serving as shepherd of Christ's sheep. There wasn't any real issue of whether or not they were authentic. Their writings did not need to be deemed worthy of inclusion in the Canon of Scripture by a later group of men in the so-called Roman Catholic Church. To make such a claim is, in effect, to usurp the natural power and authority of God himself.

Im from Ireland and was a Catholic for 28yrs. I am now attending a Christian Fellowship. Having been living in a Catholic country such as Ireland. One the earliest Catholic countries in the world. I can say his pretty much right but im thrilled to know that you have such a joy to worship the Living God. The Holy Spirit is an expression of God's love for us.

well, Catholicism is the true religion, because it was started by Jesus. Catholic records go all the way back to Peter, who was made Pope by Jesus. And since Catholicism is an apostolic religion, the lineage has been carried down to our Pope now, Pope Benedict. of course, this doesn't prove God exist, but that is why it is called Faith. @SaxoRamirez Wrong. The Roman Catholic Church was not really in effect as an organization in the first couple hundred years of the Christian Church. The Christian church was under persecution and official church gatherings were risky business in the Roman Empire. Catholicism as an organization with a central figure located in Rome did not occur for quite some time, in spite of its false claim they can trace the papacy back to Peter.

The Eucharist is Christ and Catholics don't put their faith in priests.

The Arc was seen as God's presence on Earth and the Israelites would go and worship the Arc, which had statues, it was a place of worship. Where in Jewish scriptures is the term "Bible" referenced? Also, the Biblical canon, as you know it today, was finalized in 4th century by the Catholic Church...do your research. Also, I do not remember Paul ever being Jewish, so does his book not count? Only the Old Testament is attributed to Jewish Scriptures. Obviously you haven't studied the Bible enough.

Do you know what I have problem with? It's this whole idea of the catholic church being universal. I mean everyone knows or has heard of the Catholic church. You see it movies, in the news media. It's captured by the eyes and ears of almost every individual in the world. Didn't Jesus say in Matt7:13 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction"? So that would make one think twice before considering the Catholic church

The simple claim that "Jesus purged all of our sins so we're all saved!" sounds too happy go lucky and not realistic. When one truly has the faith in Jesus, they will try to LIVE as He has taught (and he taught us to do many HARD things).

I don't mind the hour and fifteen minute Sunday Mass. I really love it actually. I even love the Great Easter Vigil which can take up to 3 hours or more. I love to praise his name and works (Narrabo Opera Domini)....and let's face it Latin is super cool. Catholic means "Universal" and I really love being a member of the true Church of Jesus Christ. It's a love with out end.... Amen.

Hence, why Martin Luther broke away from it, starting the Protestant church. But at the beginning, the church was meant to be universal with one doctrine and everyone with the same mind, that is the mind of Christ. Unfortunately, it's not like that...

I think the Mass has really cool stuff - everybody likes saying the Creed together because it sounds so fucking cool. Also, everybody shaking hands and giving each other the sign of peace is great. Finally, genuflecting makes me feel tough.
I do like when we get to go in peace to love and serve the Lord though.

What it meant? It means to be a part of the One True Church, established by Christ with Peter as the first pope serving as shepherd of Christ's sheep. It means you worship in the way established by Christ through the apostles. It means you do not trust the opinion of one preacher's interpretation of scripture as opposed to the one down the road (Choosing whichever one you like best). It means believing there is but one way to interpret the scripture (Catholic) bc Catholics established scripture.

@mLopez54 Stop diverting the conversation. When the apostles wrote the New Testament documents they were inspired by the power of the Holy Spirit. There wasn't any real issue of whether or not they were authentic. Their writings did not need to be deemed worthy of inclusion in the Canon of Scripture by a later group of men in the so-called Roman Catholic Church. To make such a claim is, in effect, to usurp the natural power and authority of God himself.

1) Catholics believe in Apostolic Authority. All Bishops can be traced back to the original Twelve Apostles.
2) We believe that Peter had a special authority among the other Apostles, and that authority is passed to Peter's successors who are the Popes.
3) Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Jesus the Eucharist (the bread and the wine really become the Body and Blood).
4) Catholics believe that all Christians need to be Baptized with water.

Obviously, this guy has never been to a Catholic LifeTeen Mass! The arms do go up! And we are HAPPY to be there..praise God! Inn response to some of the other comments...actually Jesus Himself started the Church and gave His followers the power of His Holy Spirit (who is God, by the way) to keep the Church going all these two-thousand plus years. Im from Ireland and was a Catholic for 28yrs. I am now attending a Christian Fellowship. Having been living in a Catholic country such as Ireland. One the earliest Catholic countries in the world. I can say his pretty much right but im thrilled to know that you have such a joy to worship the Living God. The Holy Spirit is an expression of God's love for us.

well, Catholicism is the true religion, because it was started by Jesus. Catholic records go all the way back to Peter, who was made Pope by Jesus. And since Catholicism is an apostolic religion, the lineage has been carried down to our Pope now, Pope Benedict. of course, this doesn't prove God exist, but that is why it is called Faith. The Christian church was under persecution and official church gatherings were risky business in the Roman Empire. Catholicism as an organization with a central figure located in Rome did not occur for quite some time, in spite of its false claim they can trace the papacy back to Peter.

hello, im a practicing catholic you have been arguing with reachforthelasers and i just want to apologize. many catholics believe that since our church was the church founded by christs deciples that it's the best. of course this probably isnt true, i love being catholic but i'm not a slave to religion, i think for myself and make my values based on the teachings of the church. and one is that if there is Christ in your heart, and live as morally sound as possible, you will always have Gods love

Don't you dare talk about Jesus & Mary like that! You have been severely mislead. Yea, there are those priests who have made mistakes, but they're human. We all make mistakes. Priests aren't perfect; they sin, too. Maybe you should actually try to get to know Jesus/God. God is waiting for you to 'open the door to let Him in'. You have to make the first step. Do it (and i mean actually try), and see what you think after that. It might take a while for you to realize something's happening though.

You are confused about the Catholic faith...first off, Catholics don't worship statues, the statues serve as reminders and are merely symbols kind of like how the statue of liberty is a symbol of America. Second, God doesn't adore statues and I am not quite sure where you got that idea. Third, If the God of the Bible hates statues so much, then why did he order statues to be placed on the top of his Arc of the Covenant? The Eucharist is Christ and Catholics don't put their faith in priests.

Do you not read the Bible? DO you not know what the purpose of the Arc of the Covenant was? The Arc was seen as God's presence on Earth and the Israelites would go and worship the Arc, which had statues, it was a place of worship. The Catholic God is the same as your God, it's a sad thing that you have been brainwashed otherwise.

I know All about catholicism, I was infant baptized and schooled for 10 years as a catholic. Everything they do contradicts The Very Word Of God and they worship a dead Christ! They say there is no salvation outside of the RCC, but to my own experience there was no salvation Inside of it. I Know who there god is, and it is definitely not The God of The Bible!

It is not my fault that you were falsely catechized. I actually chose to become Catholic, now I am a catechist and I will become a nun. Actually there is salvation outside the RCC, you will not find otherwise in the Catechism. Also, Catholics worship a risen Christ, were you not taught that every Sunday is an Easter? Did you not learn the Regina Caeli where Mary is told to rejoice in her risen Son? I was schooled for 12 yrs, trust me, you don't know everything there is about the RCC.

Have you heard of persecution of Catholic by protestants in the infancy of the US, KKK< Salem Witch trial, plus more...well you can thank the protestants for that. Also, the Bible was complied in the 4th century, by Catholics, prior to that, there was no Bible...an historian could tell you that.

The Old Testament is also known as the Hebrew or the Tanakh, the Books of Moses or the Torah, is attributed to the Jews, but in Christianity, the Bible was not compiled until the 4th century...also don't "little girl" me or call me "sweetheart" I find it rude and disrespectful...also I might know what I'm talking about since I am a religious studies major...

Where in Jewish scriptures is the term "Bible" referenced? Also, the Biblical canon, as you know it today, was finalized in 4th century by the Catholic Church...do your research. Also, I do not remember Paul ever being Jewish, so does his book not count? Only the Old Testament is attributed to Jewish Scriptures. Obviously you haven't studied the Bible enough.
