  • do it without the straps

  • I have no problem with people training with straps. I wouldn't recommend it for cleans though. It's dangerous, because you end up in a position where it's hard to get free, and if you fall back, you risk landing on your elbows with the weight in your hands. It's happened to some of the best in the US. Google Zach Krych. For snatches, though, straps are perfectly appropriate. They're harder on your hands due to the angle, and it's safer, because of your arm position.

  • I don't test my vertical so any advice I'd give would be pure speculation.

  • I'm tired of people complaining about straps. When you train hard everyday your hands take a toll. Using straps allows you to continue to train your stronger leg muscles when your hands start to fail. My PR's are the same with or without them. The best Olympic programs in the country train with straps and I think they know what they are doing.

  • who cares about straps. This is training. A lot of elite professional lifters use straps. I read somewhere Naim Suleymanoglu trains with straps until right before the competition.

  • for some reason i dont like this lift..i can do a decent amount at 135..but for some reason i dont find it being useful, allow i know it is useful, just not to me, nice job though

    I don't know if you do or not but if you can bare the pain use the hook grip you can get rid of those straps.

  • Nice form, nice control. The controlled descent of the bar at the end of the lift is part of good form. So many of the guys with videos of cleans seem to think it's macho to drop the bar at the end. In reality, it means that they have completed one less rep than they think they have.

  • Would love to but they cost money. Most everything in the gym was bought used. If I ever find a used set of bumpers I will probably pick them up as long as the price is right.

  • oh! is it okay for the weights when you drop it??? since its concrete?? im trying to purchase weights for cleans and deadlift those stuff

  • the floor is concrete but I have 3/4 inch foam insulation glued between two peices of 3/4 inch plywood. It also has a sheet of 1/2 inch rubber mat all topped off with carpet. I don't routinly drop weights but my floor is potected when it happens.
